Agree. The coaches had a great game plan, and they stuck to it. Should have been 31-0, but Mark Zackery saved the Giants' bacon. Classic thumping. Credit to Cathedral for bringing the Giants back down to Earth a little. I think the loss may help them, and hopefully we'll see these two again in the Regional. All three phases performed well last night for the Irish. Congrats on finally ending that 15-game losing streak over the last 37 years to Ben Davis.

Just saw this. They cut off tickets at 6:00 pm when the gates open.

I would think that lighting issue from a couple of years ago that forced the postponement of the Chatard-Cathedral game was a factor. I'm not sure the Irish have been back there since. I know Ben Davis played them at Key Stadium at UIndy last year.

It's preseason. I don't read much into the polls for a couple of weeks.

Kyle also said in the article that he reserves the right to redo the predictions after Week 5.

Coach Mann said the schedule is no walk in the park this year for BD, and the Sectional is going to be even tougher with Avon and Pike improving. Pike has a ton of Ben Davis alums/former coaches now on staff, so Coach Brevard is trying to build something for sure. I think you're pretty spot on with your picks. No major disagreements except for including Carmel and Center Grove. LOL...just messing with you.

When do we vote?

Don't quote me because I'm not in that dept., but I believe you have to be passing five or six classes at Ben Davis.

Students must be enrolled in at least five classes and maintain a minimum of a grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. So, let's say I have seven classes. History-C (2.0) Math-D (1.0) English-C (2.0) Social Studies-F (0) Choir-A (4.0) Advanced PE-A- (3.5) Art-B (3.0) 15.5/7 GPA is 2.21. I'm eligible. Of course, this simplifies it way down.

I don't know how something like this would be done, but I've actually mentioned that I'd like to see a de-multiplier. So, if a team is really struggling in a class it can be moved down to a class where it's more competitive. Again, I don't know how you'd do something like that and make it fair, but it was one of those silly ideas I had one afternoon.

And as we've seen firsthand here at BD, you can be enrolled at a public school, live in that district, but not be allowed to play at that school by the IHSAA.

I said PRIMARILY...and I didn't accuse anyone of anything. My point was that Brebeuf and Cathedral are not tied to parishes. You're reading things into my statement that were not there.

Ritter, Scecina and Guerin are also parish-based, I think.

Roncalli and Chatard are a little different than Cathedral in that they primarily draw from an individual parish where as Cathedral (and Brebeuf) draw from everywhere.

Yep. Now I-69 joins up down here too.

I should say that Decatur did grow exponentially from 2000 to 2010, but that growth has really tapered off in the last 5-10 years. Still lots of farmland and room to grow down here, but we keep having to fight off warehouses. Not much residential growth. Most of the houses are "starter homes" as well.

Decatur Township has had stable growth for the last few years. I live here. The only new neighborhoods have largely been apartments. No new housing developments in several years. Decatur's been a solid program for several decades. The move to 5A made things a little easier and with Cathedral up in 6A it has made it an even better situation.

Those Ben Davis/Warsaw games are not reflected on the schedule as of yet for BD. What week would they play? If the Ben Davis offense is what it should be this year, that's going to be tough.
