  1. Carmel. Might leave Bud Wright there, too.
  2. Certainly there will be some big student sections there.
  3. Kyle is a first-class individual. He is deeply immersed in the local high school sports community, and he understands how to report on it. If he has an opinion, it's usually based on facts and knowledge. Plus, he's just an excellent writer. One of the best they have at the Star on any beat.
  4. If anyone can bring Carmel back, it's Coach Wright. Excellent hire and welcome back.
  5. Westfield 28, Brownsburg 21 F Enjoy your Thanksgiving and your time with Mrs. Temp.
  6. I believe they also did this last year before the State Championship Game.
  7. What do you consider Metro Indy? Brownsburg is a 10 minute drive on a good day from Ben Davis, and Westfield is probably 25 away. They literally fight with Carmel all the time about what land to annex or call theirs. If Carmel is a Metro Indy team and Center Grove is a Metro Indy team, then Westfield and Brownsburg are Metro Indy teams.
  8. I have heard some rumblings as well regarding the Carmel job, but that was before the Warren job was open.
  9. DuJuan McCoy (WNDY owner and Ben Davis alum) has been great for high school sports through his stations, but he has to have dance partners willing to carry the game in all of the state's TV markets. He doesn't own stations all over the state. You're not dealing with mom & pop organizations like you did a long time ago. You're dealing with major corporations who have no civic pride because they are based in other states. DuJuan is a unicorn for local ownership of TV stations now. Radio is a bit different, but that's changing too.
  10. I know it's done at the State Finals meeting, but I don't know if it's separate flips these days. I used to just be one flip for all north and all south teams.
  11. Tutsie can go fly a kite. Sorry...BD bias here.
  12. Pretty sure it's Kirschner's though I haven't talked to him. Mike's 63. He doesn't look it. I can imagine being AD isn't a picnic when you're doing it on top of being football coach.
  13. Yep. CG can actually chew clock and shorten games effectively. BD/LN were not built to do that as much.
  14. WNDY is not a statewide network which, it's my understanding, is a requirement...the ability to be seen statewide.
  15. I think if Brownsburg is playing up to its potential that it is going to be tough to beat them. That's an if though...and Center Grove just knows how to do this at this point. They're here every year, and their kids expect it. Experience. It's not new. Crown Point and Westfield is a toss-up game I think. I agree.
  16. I'm told that they tried, but nothing made sense. There were no partners willing to do the finals like before. Broadcasts cost money. Broadcasters cost money. Camera crew costs money. Techs cost money. Equipment costs money. Network infrastructure costs money. I don't think the margins are what you think they are.
  17. I am not confident...I just wanted to be different.
  18. Crown Point 35, Westfield 28 Brownsburg 42, Center Grove 24 I'll be contrarian.
  19. Don't take it as Gospel. I heard it secondhand.
  20. I was told the ADs in Sectional 6 agreed to let the home games be treated as home games in the Sectional.
  21. Some? They're primarily Spread now.
  22. The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inducted him as a Silver Medal winner. https://hoopshall.com/inductees/john-harrell/#:~:text=created and launched JohnHarrell.net,also honored by IHSAA and Probably helps give him a little comfort while he's waiting for the Indy Riverside vs. Lighthouse Christian score on a Friday Night at 2:00 am.
  23. Coach Moore adapted...and they can still pop into that Wing-T faster than you can say, "Ope!"
  24. I imagine this time of year (with football and basketball rolling), he goes into his basement not emerging until April.
