Watched the Ben Davis/Westfield scrimmage. The Giants looked pretty good. I think defensively they only gave up one big play over the top and spent a lot of time in Westfield's offensive backfield defensively. On offense, BD moved the ball very easily into Westfield's territory. They bogged down in the red zone, and that's disappointing and something to work on. Unfortunately, the stream cut out and I didn't get to see the Giants scrimmage Carmel.

Penn and Ben Davis have a mutual respect for each other dating back to Dullaghan and Geesman.

Ben Davis has an AD and an assistant AD , but they have two athletic secretaries (One of those secretaries is also an assistant football coach). At different times in the past, the department has had a second assistant AD but not for several years.

That's what I have been told by coaches. Like I said, I'm not aware of financials.

I have not heard of any specific financials on the IMG game. I can certainly ask. I believe BD is anticipating a large gate for the game. Again, as I stated earlier, I really believe the friendship of Jason Simmons and one of the coaches at IMG started the ball rolling on this one.

Either that or just do away with this PHD degree needing level of trying to figure out where the heck you're going to playing the next game. "Home team is the Regional non-host but only if the team came from an even Sectional and played a team that started with the letter B and led after the first quarter but not if they hosted the Regional six years ago...blah blah..."

WC's Mike Kirschner has long advocated for a 1-32 seeding in the 6A tournament by the Sagarins. Home team is the higher seed.

It was 49-7 at the half in that game against Penn. If BD had left in Reese and the rest of the guys, it would have been MUCH worse. Should the Giants have benched everyone in the second quarter? I mean it was 28-7 after one. I mean, what do you want them to do? That team was one of the best ALL TIME in Indiana. Same for the Warren teams under Kevin Wright and Steve Tutsie that embarrassed everyone (including Ben Davis, 76-7, in '06). As the 76-7 game and BD football history pre-1977 shows, the Giants have taken plenty of embarrassments...some fairly recently. The 2018 season wasn't fun at all.

It's my understanding that the previous BD HC, Jason Simmons, has a relationship with someone on the IMG staff. I believe that's what got the ball rolling. Listen, I don't know what's going to happen that night or if Ben Davis has any shot, but I think it speaks well for the program and for Indiana High School Football that IMG wanted to come and play here. I also know there has been tremendous interest in the game from not only BD folks. If the Giants get shellacked, it will be what many expect. If they are competitive, it will really show the team where they are against one of the country's best.
