  1. I talked to the people who chased down the pranksters. It's what it was. But, you know...you do you.
  2. Tell me you have not been to a Ben Davis game this year without telling me you have not been to a Ben Davis game this year. Also, BD leads the series 7-5 vs Brownsburg and is 5-1 in the playoffs vs the Bulldogs. Brownsburg has won the last two vs. BD. It's 5/6 overall, but the 1 for the Giants is pretty big. I think this one is a coinflip game. Should be a real war. 1 1980-81 Ben Davis 35 Brownsburg 7 Brownsburg BD, 1-0 2 1981-82 Ben Davis 15 Brownsburg 7 Ben Davis BD, 2-0 3 2007-08 Ben Davis 35 Brownsburg 13 Ben Davis BD, 3-0 SECTIONAL; 400th win in program history 4 2008-09 Ben Davis 45 Brownsburg 10 Brownsburg BD, 4-0 SECTIONAL 5 2011-12 Ben Davis 38 Brownsburg 31 2OT Ben Davis BD, 5-0 SECTIONAL 6 2016-17 Ben Davis 49 Brownsburg 13 Brownsburg BD, 6-0 SECTIONAL 7 2019-20 Ben Davis 24 Brownsburg 29 Brownsburg BD, 6-1 8 2020-21 Ben Davis 7 Brownsburg 38 Ben Davis BD, 6-2 9 2021-22 Ben Davis 22 Brownsburg 33 Lucas Oil Stadium BD, 6-3 10 2021-22 Ben Davis 32 Brownsburg 14 Ben Davis BD, 7-3 REGIONAL 11 2022-23 Ben Davis 16 Brownsburg 21 Ben Davis BD, 7-4 12 2022-23 Ben Davis 20 Brownsburg 48 Ben Davis BD, 7-5 SECTIONAL
  3. Well, first of all, your pick is solid. Secondly, if you're referring to the WC/BD game, those were pranksters outside the stadium in the woods with fireworks and that loophole has now been closed by Wayne Twp. School Police. If you're coming in to the game, arrive early. There will be delays at the gate for the security lines. If you arrive at 6:45 pm for the 7:00 pm game, you may miss action. Gates open at 6 pm.
  4. Coin flip. I'll take the Giants with a late score. Ben Davis 35, Brownsburg 28
  5. The learning curve is getting shorter. That Avon team played BD closer than the final score indicated earlier this year. They scored a lot of points on the burg too.
  6. If you start talking contraction, I'll think maybe another person has taken over your account 🤣
  7. I would argue that Carmel is still pretty darn elite in basketball. They certainly came the closest margin-wise to beating BD last year. Coach Osborn is a heck of a basketball coach and so was Scott Heady before him. Your point on the 11 on the field is very valid. I remember having a discussion with Mike Kirschner one time where he talked about the "You have 4000 kids in your school" argument. He said that everyone that everyone that could help the team was pretty much out. I think they had 150 kids out around that time.
  8. That was not the 2017 BD team that went 14-0 and won state. In 2016, the Giants lost to Center Grove in the Semi-State. The 2016 team went 9-4. The 2017 Giants were special. They had a challenge in the Sectional against Warren that year which became the 14-0 Warren team that won state in 2018. Other than that and a tough first half against LC also in the Sectional, the 2017 Giants were not touched.
  9. CG struggled with LN and Moeller...BD didn't. Well CG smacked LC and BD struggled. Be careful with transitive scores. There are a lot of factors that go into games. Matchups, rivalries, injuries, how the day went at school, travel, etc.
  10. I'm not saying any predictions given my less than stellar performance last week.
  11. I saw Phantom...which was not Phantom of the Opera, but the story was similar.
  12. After touting Warren Central as a darkhorse team, I'm going to shut up the rest of the year about rankings or predictions. Looks good to me.
  13. And, as we've seen with the MIC in the past, sometimes you get down and it's hard to get back up again. You can be pretty darn good in the HCC but the results don't show...especially when you share a Sectional with BD and Brownsburg, too.
  14. Sometimes it takes a bit to get everything grooved.
  15. I think that's a pretty good score on the Carmel/BD game Pike is going to really struggle against CG. 48 is kind. They really seem to struggle when they get down early. I expect this to be running clock city. I watched the Carmel/NC game on YouTube. NC really struggles on defense and can't get out of its way on offense. I don't know how they can stop an LC team that can look good at times. I like your prediction. Warren is a darkhorse in this 6A thing. Not saying they'll win it all, but I think they're coming along. Their defense is stellar and playing very well. Lawrence North just did not impress me at all. I mean, at all. I don't know if that's because Ben Davis is better than I think or if LN is just not. Warren 35, Lawrence North 14.
  16. Ben Davis and Carmel renew their rivalry again on Friday night at 7:00 pm from Giant Stadium. The Greyhounds lead the series, 25-24 after winning the last two games in the series to take their first lead since 1995. The series has been tied eight different times since then. It's just remarkable how close this series has been since the late 1990's. Research done by Jim Pich and yours truly on this one. Greyhounds lead series 25-24 1958-59 Giants 19-6 (BD) 1959-60 Giants 20-19 (Carmel) 1977-78 Giants 24-7 (North Central) (Sectional) 1981-82 Greyhounds 28-0 (BD) 1982-83 Greyhounds 21-6 (Carmel) 1983-84 Greyhounds 7-0 (BD) 1984-85 Greyhounds 28-21 (Carmel) 1985-86 Greyhounds 19-14 (BD) 1986-87 Greyhounds 31-14 (Carmel) 1987-88 Greyhounds 35-20 (BD) 1988-89 Giants 36-0 (Carmel) 1989-90 Greyhounds 35-20 (BD) 1989-90 Greyhounds 14-10 (Carmel) (Sectional) 1990-91 Giants 30-7 (Carmel) 1991-92 Giants 56-28 (BD) 1992-93 Giants 48-0 (Carmel) 1993-94 Greyhounds 13-12 (BD) 1994-95 Giants 41-33 (Carmel) 1995-96 Giants 15-10 (BD) 1996-97 Giants 29-15 (Carmel) 1997-98 Giants 38-11 (BD) 1998-99 Greyhounds 14-3 (Carmel) 1999-00 Giants 49-0 (BD) 2000-01 Greyhounds 21-14 (Carmel) 2001-02 Giants 38-3 (BD) 2002-03 Giants 31-7 (Carmel) 2003-04 Giants 27-11 (BD) 2004-05 Giants 18-8 (Carmel) 2005-06 Greyhounds 17-14 (BD) 2006-07 Greyhounds 20-7 (Carmel) 2007-08 Giants 28-27 (BD) 2008-09 Giants 24-17 (Carmel) 2009-10 Greyhounds 21-7 (BD) 2010-11 Greyhounds 35-7 (Carmel) 2011-12 Greyhounds 20-10 (BD) 2011-12 Greyhounds 11-9 (BD) (Regional) 2012-13 Giants 13-7 (Carmel) 2013-14 Giants 28-24 (BD) 2014-15 Greyhounds 37-14 (Carmel) 2014-15 Giants 42-24 (Lucas Oil Stadium) (State) 2015-16 Greyhounds 35-21 (BD) 2016-17 Greyhounds 40-36 (Carmel) 2017-18 Giants 28-10 (BD) 2018-19 Greyhounds 21-7 (Carmel) 2019-20 Giants 27-14 (BD) 2020-21 Greyhounds 31-9 (Carmel) 2020-21 Giants 27-21 (BD) (Regional) 2021-22 Greyhounds 35-21 (BD) 2022-23 Greyhounds 21-14 (Carmel)
  17. There never really have been a ton recently.
  18. I'm worried about the LN/Ben Davis game. The Giants cannot play anywhere close to the way they did against Warren and be successful. That said, with all the mistakes, that's a game they would have lost in the recent past. They got lucky, and they did enough to win. I agree largely with your picks. Poor North Central. In 2019, they were MIC co-champs. In 2020, they were competitive and in the hunt. The drop has been precipitous. Hopefully Derek Hart can turn it around.
  19. It was a really bad night for special teams. Rudolph has been rock solid all year. That missed FG was his first miss of the year. It was wide left by a few feet with good leg distance. He nailed the other one. Punting was a big issue last night. I will have to ask why the Giants rush their punt unit onto the field like that. I am curious. As far as the punt return, that was a case of not wrapping up a tackle. They had two shots at the guy, and he got away. That opening kick was probably the worst coverage I've seen out of a Ben Davis team in years. You could have driven a semi through that gap sideways. Something happened there. Knowing Coach Spinks, that unit is not in for a good week, LOL. He'll fix it.
  20. Warren has a championship level defense. They are very good and sound. That freshman has an arm and he looks bigger than 5-11 and 175. Warren is getting to the Regional. I could see them making a run. The coaching staff did a fantastic job last night just keeping the team in it on the sidelines. On the Ben Davis side, the Giants had better find some answers to some things. I like what Coach Mann said in the Star. It was a "humbling" win. Got lucky. Sometimes you get those.
