  1. No. They shouldn't have. I would expect them to poke back into the rankings next year.
  2. Ben Davis should be better if they can hang on to everyone. JV and freshmen had good years. Varsity was very young. Started a freshman or sophomore at QB for most of the games.
  3. Is that a judgy subtext? My dad never came to any of my matches or programs. He was a high school assistant principal, so he was busy. When he wasn't, he didn't want to make me nervous. It wasn't that he didn't want to be there. He told me what was up. He did the same thing with my brother. He didn't want to hover over us. He wasn't famous, either. But, anyway, it appears other posters have pointed out you might just be missing him. Solid.
  4. Hey, I just work here. Well...not really...
  5. Looks like both 6A games are on turf.
  6. Not to mention, the midweek Regional was randomly hosted by one of the teams. Can you imagine the uproar if, let's say, a mediocre team wins a mediocre Sectional only to have a good team win a tough Sectional then have to travel to the mediocre team for Regional midweek?
  7. Only problem I could see is that some schools might bid in anticipation of hosting. You'd have to put something in place that would make that not happen.
  8. You could follow the basketball model and have schools "bid" to host a Regional or Semistate.
  9. It wouldn't be unprecedented that the Bulldogs lose to an underdog in Sectional (or Regional) BDGiant93 thinks those are fair...except, what's the 1 percent that Warren doesn't win? The locker room gets locked and they can't get out until tomorrow?
  10. Ben Davis has had the Warren route a couple of times. It is what it is. The IHSAA won't split school districts, so the Lawrences, Fishers/HSE, Southport/Perry are package deals in the Indy Metro. Tech has to have somewhere to go, too. T'is what t'is. Warren got it the last two cycles. Assuming if Decatur stays up, that probably will be where they get slotted in the next sectional cycle.
  11. Some gems on the schedule!!
  12. Carmel since 1963. Ben Davis since 1966.
  13. They are the powerhouse in Indiana high school media. I have the face for radio. I will pass it along to my students.
  14. BD does not video stream games. We have a radio broadcast, but other schools do have robust video streaming departments. Many stream their home games and have quality graphics, etc. In Central Indiana, ISC Sports Network has a MIC or game of high interest broadcast on MYIndyTV 23. There's several games available on ihsaatv.
  15. Many schools in the Indy area offer TV. Carmel does a good job with radio & TV. CHTV, I believe, is unique because it has its own cable access channel. BD, DC, Warren, NC, Avon, Brownsburg, Whiteland, Franklin Central, etc. etc. all have solid TV offerings. Left out Western Boone. They have one of the best.
  16. Ben Davis will be back. If all the players they have in the program stay, and that's a big if these days, the Giants will be back in the conversation. While there are some upperclassmen, the core of this year's team is very young. Gotta love the latent homophobia. You realize that you can be gay and like football, right? You can be gay and play football, right? You can be straight and male and a cheerleader, right? Geez. Maybe not relevant in a state sense, but if some of these teams up in the far northern region of the state had to play the schedules Warren and Ben Davis do, they wouldn't be where they are. ----------------------- As far as who Temp is, he's accurate when he says he doesn't have a rooting interest. He's no WC Warrior, I can tell you that.
  17. Nothing specific, but I remember the great battles in the late 1990s when Decatur Central was just so close to beating Ben Davis in the Sectional. I have no doubt that if any of those really good Hawks teams had gotten by the Giants that they would have been contenders further down the line at State. The 2000 Sectional at Ben Davis was a classic.
  18. It has to get pricey to rent Butler or UIndy all the time.
  19. I don't believe a 3-6 team should be in the top 25, but the Sagarin rating puts the Giants ahead of Homestead and would have them as a favorite in a head-to-head matchup. The Giants have played the #2 schedule in the state so far this year.
  20. No question. Avon/Brownsburg is must watch most years no matter the records.
  21. Not this year. While the Giants have certainly improved in the last few weeks, they're still extremely young. Good years ahead for them.
  22. I am still picking Carmel, but if they play like they played last night, the won't make it out of Sectional. Ben Davis' offense appears to be rounding into shape finally. Gabe Kennett tossed 8 touchdowns in the win last night against North Central. Hope the Giants didn't use up all the offensive juice in Week 9.
