  1. Many schools in the Indy area offer TV. Carmel does a good job with radio & TV. CHTV, I believe, is unique because it has its own cable access channel. BD, DC, Warren, NC, Avon, Brownsburg, Whiteland, Franklin Central, etc. etc. all have solid TV offerings. Left out Western Boone. They have one of the best.
  2. Ben Davis will be back. If all the players they have in the program stay, and that's a big if these days, the Giants will be back in the conversation. While there are some upperclassmen, the core of this year's team is very young. Gotta love the latent homophobia. You realize that you can be gay and like football, right? You can be gay and play football, right? You can be straight and male and a cheerleader, right? Geez. Maybe not relevant in a state sense, but if some of these teams up in the far northern region of the state had to play the schedules Warren and Ben Davis do, they wouldn't be where they are. ----------------------- As far as who Temp is, he's accurate when he says he doesn't have a rooting interest. He's no WC Warrior, I can tell you that.
  3. Nothing specific, but I remember the great battles in the late 1990s when Decatur Central was just so close to beating Ben Davis in the Sectional. I have no doubt that if any of those really good Hawks teams had gotten by the Giants that they would have been contenders further down the line at State. The 2000 Sectional at Ben Davis was a classic.
  4. It has to get pricey to rent Butler or UIndy all the time.
  5. I don't believe a 3-6 team should be in the top 25, but the Sagarin rating puts the Giants ahead of Homestead and would have them as a favorite in a head-to-head matchup. The Giants have played the #2 schedule in the state so far this year.
  6. No question. Avon/Brownsburg is must watch most years no matter the records.
  7. Not this year. While the Giants have certainly improved in the last few weeks, they're still extremely young. Good years ahead for them.
  8. I am still picking Carmel, but if they play like they played last night, the won't make it out of Sectional. Ben Davis' offense appears to be rounding into shape finally. Gabe Kennett tossed 8 touchdowns in the win last night against North Central. Hope the Giants didn't use up all the offensive juice in Week 9.
  9. Carmel was awful last night. Just watched the game. So many penalties. They were lucky to get out of LC with the win. Brownsburg is back at the top of my list. I didn't particularly think it was close between Carmel and Brownsburg, but it looks like I was incorrect (as Temp would say, "like always").
  10. Costly. Conference makes scheduling easy.
  11. Many programs are now doing it earlier in the year. It moved at BD during the pandemic, and I know one reason why it's stayed earlier at Ben Davis is because it was falling on Fall Break. Both the basketball teams still do their final home game as Senior Night.
  12. Tech is currently having issues with their stadium...at least anecdotally. Jerdson Gamble's a good guy. Loved working with him here at BD. I know the program he's trying to build there. I just hope he can build it before it wears him down.
  13. How many State Championships did Rick Streiff win at North Central? Mark Haste? Kevin O'Shea? I'd say there are other things that must be at work there. But, that's just one example. Those are all fantastic football coaches.
  14. I don't care if Carmel had 100 kids or 5500 kids...if they fielded this year's Carmel team, they'd still be a good team.
  15. I'm telling you...eye test...Carmel is going to be a tough out for anyone, Brownsburg included.
  16. Carmel is different this year. They just are. They're good in all three phases and are beating good and bad/struggling teams badly. Carmel is a complete football team. Only loss was to nationally ranked Louisville Trinity.
  17. Never saw that result coming. Cathedral seemed to be really struggling...then here they are. Great win for the Irish.
  18. John has his own ratings metric that he uses. It's what he uses to make his predictions.
  19. Wingate still touts their 1913 and 1914 State Basketball Championships
  20. I figured there had to be a reason. These calls just don't get missed very often.
  21. These squads aren't down for long. They'll be back.
  22. #2, I can only imagine they'll be ready to dump some points on Ben Davis. Kevin Wright's last appearance against the Giants didn't go so well after the 17-0 start. #3, Center Grove just gets it done. Must be something to that old formula they have down there. They just keep doing it. #8, Boy, Warren feels like they should be one of the top teams. They're certainly better on offense than they were last year and have some players on defense. When Warren fans are saying that Pike got robbed, then Pike got robbed. That was one of the worst missed calls I've seen in maybe 15-16 years...maybe back to that Carmel/Warren state game. I get that officials are human and make mistakes. It's hard to see what that official was watching, but I'm sure he feels horrible. Usually those guys and gals are hardest on themselves when they know they messed up. By the way, Is Pike playing a backup QB? I know Lewis was hurt against BD.
