I'm assuming no one bothered to correct him. He only has information sent to him.

This BD team isn't bad now that they've found themselves. I was one of the 18 or 19 people to see LN absolutely plow the Giants that day. It wasn't pretty. BD was caught flatfooted, and it was over before it started. LN came in on a business trip.
-
I'd slot them behind the 2023 BD team simply because I think last year's BD team was deeper on offense. I also think that team prevailed over an overall tougher field last year. I guess that remains to be seen.

Lawrence North compares very favorably on the offensive side of the football to the 2014 Ben Davis team that won state. Weapons all over the place with a big, smart quarterback who can deliver the football where it needs to go. That Ben Davis team also had Dorian Tate and Chris Evans in the backfield. They don't have anyone who can compare to Asmar Bilal on defense, but they do have a defense that plays well with the lead. I've seen them compared to the 2017 BD team and the 2018 WC team. Not sure I'm ready to go that far. Those two teams were both regarded and should be regarded as two of the best-ever teams in Indiana.

I have been an Indiana High School Football fan since the 1980's and an avid follower since my sophomore year at Ben Davis in 1990. I have never seen a Carmel football team achieve at a lower level than this year's squad. They look lost, and it's getting worse. For comparison, Ben Davis looked lost early, and they've got astronomically better in all three phases.

6A Tournament Discussion
BDGiant93 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Crown Point should win Sectional 1. I think they also have to be the favorite to come out of the North again. Sectional 2 is loaded with Snider, Carroll and Elkhart having strong years. Carroll's probably the favorite, but it's hard not to look at Snider and not see the tournament success and history they've had over so many years. Sectional 3 is Westfield's playground. Carmel's probably at the lowest level I can remember their program. I don't remember them being this bad even before Mo Moriarty arrived on the scene. Zionsville has yet to turn the corner though they've proven they can worry folks. Sectional 4 is absolutely brutal. Assign a each team a random number and let the random number generator pick a victor. Would be cool to see Noblesville somehow come out of there. Brownsburg is still the favorite in Sectional 5, but those ghosts of past failures have to be rattling their chains at Brownsburg with BD looking a lot better. Big danger is for Ben Davis to look past Pike. The Red Devils have become Ben Davis Northwest with all the coaches on that staff that are former Ben Davis players or Ben Davis coaches. Good to see Coach Brevard installing his vision up there, and you have to appreciate Pike for giving him the space to do it. Sectional 6 should come down to Cathedral and Lawrence North, and that's going to be a great football game. Many people are starting to believe in Lawrence North. Give Temp credit...he's been on the bandwagon from the start. Another kudos to their excellent Athletic Department for giving Coach Mal his space to implement his program. Sectional 7 Perry keeps improving as a program, and Tech won three games this year to date. That's progress. Southport appears to be where Perry was a few years back. All that said, if Warren doesn't running clock both of their games, it will be because they get in their own way. I think you can Sharpie Warren Central into the Regional. As soon as the clock hits zero on Friday vs. Cathedral. The Warriors are already prepping for CG. Center Grove is still the class of Sectional 8, but Franklin Central's defense could make things extremely interesting. I don't think Columbus North, despite their 7-1 record, will have enough to beat the HCC or the former MIC squad. -
Hebert has two state titles and a runner-up, but that seems like 100 years ago.
-
This is going to be a whale of an interesting playoffs this year.
-
Final Ben Davis 27 (3-5, 2-2) Lawrence Central 7 (3-5, 2-3)
-
Make it 27-7 Giants with 3 mins to play
-
Ben Davis up 27-0 over Lawrence Central with under 4 mins to play.
-
LN is an excellent football team as they are proving tonight.
-
Worse for Carmel. Warren's offense was always going to be a problem. Now, it appears their defense is struggling a bit.
-
Criticism is fair. I just don't think the year is over yet, and you pointed that out here.
-
I don't know if I agree with your coaching assessment, but it seemed that Carmel got a little banged up last week. Their offense really struggled in the second half. 19 carries for 18 yards on the ground. They did make their mark through the air. Carmel just seems like a team that's plateaued. Hard to say that someone whose team is 6-1 could be out of a job unless he retires at WC. But, you do have a way of picking these things. Warren 28, Carmel 7 Until I see something else, these are the two best teams I've seen all year. LN is loaded on offense. Two of the best QBs in 6A. Hard to believe these Trojans could get blown out, but LN just may be the team that can do it. I don't think it happens here, though! LN 42, Center Grove 35 I get the feeling that Ben Davis has turned the corner. I just think that second half against Carmel showed that they are ready to make a stretch run, but you're right about LC. I think they're flying right under the radar. They aren't great, but they certainly are very good. They've played everyone not named Warren Central tough. Despite losing 18 of the last 20 in the series, LC seems to have BD's number. I will choose BD in a nail biter. Ben Davis 45, Lawrence Central 42 I think Pike rolls North Central. Pike 35, North Central 7
-
That Sectional should be one to watch with LN and Cathedral and a potential sleeper in LC if they ever get things together on the same night.
-
Warren has a great defense, but I think LN's offense has more firepower than what BD did. It's just an opinion. 21 not 28. I'm losing my marbles.
-
At this point, I just think that it's too heavy of a lift to see BD go on the road and win at Carmel. Carmel 24, Ben Davis 21 I think Center Grove is a really solid, good football team in all three phases. I think McWilliams pushes them past the Irish. Center Grove 21, Cathedral 17 I agree with you. I think Lawrence North is the best team no one is talking about right now. You called it earlier than I did. If BD's offense can drop 28 on the Warriors, I'll say that the versatile 'Cats can go for more. Also, we need to talk about LN's kicking game too. They're just solid. Lawrence North 38, Warren 28 I think NC is the worst team in the MIC, and I think LC appears down, but they, like Ben Davis, have played a brutally tough schedule thus far. Thus, I don't see this one being close. LC 38, NC 14

Temp’s Top 25 (Week 6)
BDGiant93 replied to temptation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Ben Davis should not be in anyone's top 25 at this point. It's not the year for the Giants. Hoping they can get it together, but they're just trying to salvage something right now. They need to win out and win a Sectional game to get back to .500, and they've only been sub .500 once since 1986. -
That's ok. I believe you. Probably some ibuprofen or some ice will help those triceps.
-
Lawrence North is for real. That football team is loaded on offense. Time to add them to the serious contenders list in 6A.
