  1. Or Ben Davis (Railroad Executive) who got a stop on the railroad line. It became known as the Ben Davis stop which became the very small town of Ben Davis (lost to history). They opened a high school which became known as Ben Davis (which was named after the community). That's why "Davis" is not remotely the name of Ben Davis.
  2. The Giants threw for over 300 yards last week vs. Brownsburg and put the ball up two weeks before vs. Southport in the wind. Swanson throws a good ball, but you're right. It would be nice if the wind is calm.
  3. It stood out to me as well. When I saw the call over the video feed, I thought it was a tough call against the defender, but I'd like to see the video again. BD can run more now. They were just a game or so from losing their starting TB. Since then, they have developed a couple of guys who can run it. They also have been able to get both QBs more confident at using their legs. They're still a passing heavy team though...no question.
  4. The defensive player has as much right to the ball as the offensive player in that situation. Can we see the video rather than a still shot?
  5. CG popped two big plays on back-to-back possessions to make a 24-21 game 38-21.
  6. BD should have lost to that Arlington team, but the 56-yard FG by Damon Fine saved the Giants. https://audioboom.com/posts/7411673-20-years-damon-fine-wins-1999-regional-on-a-56-yard-field-goal
  7. You're not intimidated when you're Ben Davis and you've already seen Center Grove seven times since 2018. The Giants know what they have to do. Many of the seniors have started or played in two Semi-States.
  8. Looks like one of the schools hosted before the neutral sites. Here's John Harrell's list. http://indianahsfootball.homestead.com/pastfb/chart.htm#loaded
  9. I believe the classes were held at different sites in Indy. I know Lawrence Central and North Central both hosted.
  10. That was Coach Dullaghan's final game. I remember his name being mispronounced over the PA..."Congratulations to Coach Dick Dull-again". I also remember Coach D addressing the Warriors informally as they all congratulated him on his career. "Be Humble. Play your hearts out! Now go win it all because you're the best team." Still have the audio somewhere around here.
  11. Is the game at Giants Stadium or Lucas Oil? At Lucas Oil, I say Ben Davis by 3 At Giants Stadium, Give me BD by 14.
  12. Tech had a winning record. BD also didn't pick their Sectional, but they're now 3-0 in Regionals under Coach Simmons. I guess that he's doing something right with the time he's had to prep. I'd also say they were big underdogs in 2 of those.
  13. BD has guys that have now started three-straight Regional Championships.
  14. I never do, and I am always here to eat my crow when I am wrong. Have been since I came on this board.
  15. For the third-straight year, it's Ben Davis at Center Grove in the Class 6A Semi-State. The Giants nearly beat CG in 2019. They were in the game for the majority of the first 30 minutes in 2020. Can they pull the major upset in 2021? Sure they can. We've seen the Trojans just a little off the last few games. It's still been good enough to win, but I think this Ben Davis team is coming in heavy with a freight train of confidence. They blew the doors off Brownsburg before the Bulldogs knew what hit 'em. Will it be good enough to win on Friday night? CG's awfully good. I'm sure Coach Moore will get their attention this week in practice. He may be fighting a team that feels that a championship is inevitably theirs. BD, on the other hand, I believe is playing with confidence and poise. They've been battered and beaten this year and have had things happen off the field that completely were out of their control. I think it's galvanized them. Give me the Giants in a tight one. Good health to both teams. Let's have some fun on Friday.
  16. Well, that may be true, but they're going to the Final Four with a chance to beat Center Grove, a team that they led at the half and were within three of with four minutes to play in the third quarter this year. This is a healthier, more confident version of the Giants too. Call them whatever you want. They just beat a good Brownsburg team. They've got a kid that's thrown for almost 3,000 yards. That's only happened twice in BD history. But, you clearly know all great oracle of Ben Davis Football. Or a Ben Davis team that's about two plays from being 9-3...but...you know. Whatever. Ya just gotta love a guy like @Footballking16 who comes in and dumps on kids on one of their best nights.
  17. Great win for Ben Davis. Total beat down of a fine football team. Don't discount the number of "flight hours" (as Coach Simmons says) on this Ben Davis Football squad. This is certainly a different team than it was at 2-5. They are healthier and better. Puncher's chance next week against the defending champs. We'll see what the Giants have for the Trojans on Friday, 11/19.
