  1. While I'm one of those people, there's a reason why Carmel has won 32 Sectionals. They find a way. Great program, well-coached, physical and hard-nosed.
  2. Decatur Township resident here with a lot of respect for the school and the Hawks. I just think Cathedral is a different animal. I mean, Center Grove rolled Decatur Central. A vs B doesn't mean C vs B will be similar if C played A tight, but I just think Cathedral is probably a threat in 6A obviously. Decatur is a great program, but it's one of the best in class and Cathedral is one of the best in the show. No shame in that.
  3. By interesting you mean how long will it be before Cathedral takes control? Cathedral 42, Decatur Central 14.
  4. Let's get these out of the way first... Ben Davis 48, Tech 7 BD should win going away. The Giants rested almost all their starters in the second half vs. Southport. Tech's had a very good year, but I just don't see much of a chance for the Titans to get their first ever Sectional and first win vs. BD since 1944. Center Grove 42, Columbus North 7 CG is too strong for the Bull Dogs. Now, the interesting ones... Brownsburg 24, Carmel 21 The 'Hounds have just been ok these last few weeks. I watched a lot of the Avon/Carmel game, and I just couldn't shake the feeling that the Greyhounds have been coasting and underachieving for a few weeks. Even the win over Ben Davis which was marred by the ending was the result of a couple of random big plays. I think they're cruising for something. Now, I agree that Brownsburg has stubbed its toe year after year, but I think they'll get it done this year. If not, I still think it's a tight game all the way through. Lawrence North 21, Lawrence Central 13 LC has made great strides forward this year as a program and Will Patterson has them headed in the right direction. Lawrence North has an underappreciated defense and one of the states best playmakers in Omar Cooper. While it would not at all surprise me to see LC win this one, LN, like Brownsburg, has been at this point before and you feel like they just have to break through at some point.
  5. Forgot LN/NC. Lawrence North 35, NC 14. At one point, it was 27-8-2 Southport.
  6. Interesting tidbit... Ben Davis and Southport have played each other off and on since 1937. Southport has always led the series. Tonight, BD can tie the series for the first time. It's currently 28-27-2 Southport. Incidentally, the Giants have won 14 straight and 19 of 20 from the Cards. BD has not lost to Southport since 1980. Thanks to Jim Pich, Marion County's Football Brain for this one!
  7. Carmel rumbles past Avon, 41-14 Brownsburg knocks off Pike, 34-7 Ben Davis rolls over Southport, 50-0 Warren sneaks past LC with a late TD, 27-21 Center Grove gets by FC, 35-13
  8. No. I would be surprised if LC is 24 points worse than WC at this point. Coach Patterson is doing a heck of a job. LC is a very talented football team. Speed all over the place. Coach Patterson has done a great job.
  9. I've seen basketball games get forfeited for less.
  10. You've been great picking these games this year. Much better than I have been. Carmel at LC-Boy you said it there. Coach Patterson has done a great job. LC is the little team that could this year. Speedy speedy speedy! Carmel's too good though. I think the Hounds win it in the neighborhood of your score. Center Grove at Cathedral-I still fail to understand why either team schedules this game the final game of the regular season. It's a big game and certainly there will be hard hitting and the potential for season-changing injury on either side in a game that means little for conference or even class bragging rights. That said, I get the feeling this one comes down to the final possession again. Low scoring on grass and on a rainy evening. I'll take the Grove 14-13. North Central at Ben Davis-The Giants are getting healthier and better at the right time and finally figured out how to close out somebody last week. North Central got the win over Pike. I think they have their biggest offensive showing to date, but it's not enough to stop the Giants (although the weather could hold the score down). Ben Davis 35-North Central 20 Pike at Lawrence North-The Red Devils continue to try to find traction. It's not happening this week. LN 24, Pike 7.
  11. I like all the thought you put into this! I also like your plan for the SAC.
  12. You might end up with open holes. What's better? Don't play some week or play a game?
  13. LN just gets it done. Their defense really is sneaky good and Cooper is a true talent. Richardson makes them go too. The one that really matters comes later in the season. Not doubting them anymore.
  14. Scheduling is not as easy as you might think. At least with a slate full of conference games, you don't have to fill the other ones.
  15. I know the result didn't show it, but I think the Giants are turning a corner. Young defense is still giving up too many big plays, but I saw some things out of them on Friday that were really encouraging. BD is still a couple of plays from being 4-3. Giants win at LC, 42-14. Lawrence North may have one of the best defenses in the MIC that no one knows about. That said, it won't matter against Center Grove. CG 45, LN 14 Pike showed against WC that they can be a better team than they've shown. Pike 21, NC 7 Warren Central's loss to LN shocked me. I guess it shouldn't have. LN is a good team. I think Warren pulls the upset over the Hounds. 35-28.
  16. James was Mr. Football at DB and QB. Yes. He played defense. He also punted his jr. year.
  17. We had a play like this in the Ben Davis/Pike game. The young man from Ben Davis picked up a Pike player and tackled him like that. He didn't get ejected. Just an unnecessary roughness call. He literally didn't know he couldn't do it.
