  1. Congratulations! Class of the field. Go win it all for the MIC.
  2. Center Grove is the class of the field, and that doesn't surprise anyone. BD played as hard as they could in the 1st half. They couldn't get started in the third...gave up the football...and the Trojans just ran it right down the Giants throats. Impressive 2nd half. Disappointing loss for Ben Davis, but that's happened to a lot of people this year. Back to the drawing board. Congratulations to Coach Moore and the Trojans. They'll win it all next week if they stay healthy. To Coach Simmons and the Giants, thanks for another exciting turnaround. I'm already looking forward to August!
  3. This is spot on. Lawrence North and Central are not leaving the MIC.
  4. It's all about relationships. If you can get the current generation to trust you, they'll follow you.
  5. I think you find a young assistant who's willing to go in and do the work or maybe a guy who's nearing retirement who wants a new challenge (like Mike Kirschner did at Mt. Vernon). Either way, I'd love to see Lake Central be a north power again.
  6. I didn't take it personally. I took it as good-natured ribbing. That's why I responded in as many cliches as I could come with in that particular moment.
  7. That is not accurate as to any information I've heard at 3:16 pm on 11/19/20
  8. I'll put the MIC up against any conference in Indiana. You put up your best eight teams and let's see who wins the matchups.
  9. I'm just lucky to have the opportunity to take the chance and get to the next day.
  10. It's my understanding the gate money after the Sectional round goes to the IHSAA, so I would think that this money probably goes to the IHSAA. That's what I surmise anyway.
  11. I'm just trying to be the best I can be one post at a time. At the end of the day, I'll let the chips fall where they may. It is what it is.
  12. The MIC did tread water as the top conference in Indiana and one of the best in the Midwest. I'm sure they'll take it.
  13. All coaches should dress like Lou Parnell (BD's coach from 1949-1956) now!
  14. You're going to make me go to the dictionary this early.😁
  15. Please look and see where I made a prediction (other than it might be closer than many think).
  16. BD cut the CG lead to 35-21 and nearly recovered an onside kick if I remember. CG added on two TDs later in the 4th. 🙄
  17. Historically, the favorite has at times a tough time in this one. If we look at the seven Semi-State meetings between the two teams, it's rarely cut and dry. 1987-Ben Davis 49, Center Grove 0 (BD's first Semi-State triumph) 2000-Center Grove 30, Ben Davis 28 (Awful weather. I believe Banks threw five INTs, but the Giants still had a chance to win it. Center Grove avenged an earlier season loss) 2002-Ben Davis 21, Center Grove 3 (Dick Dullaghan's 300th win. Giants avenged the earlier regular season loss) 2008-Center Grove 49, Ben Davis 21 (A game that was closer than the final indicated. Again, another cold weather game) 2014-Ben Davis 49, Center Grove 45 (Still one of the most unbelievable games I've ever seen. BD had won 28-0 in the regular season) 2016-Center Grove 42, Ben Davis 22 (This game was never really close. CG dominated BD. Giants went to work in the offseason and this loss helped motivate them to the 2017 finish) 2019-Center Grove 17, Ben Davis 10 (A fun, hard-nosed football game. BD fumbled on the final drive that could have potentially stopped a game-tying TD)
  18. Ben Davis is a completely different team than they were before. That said, Center Grove is what BD 2017 and Warren 2018 were...one of the best teams in history. They are loaded. BD has to play some mistake-free football, but I think they can keep it closer than most believe. They are playing with no pressure right now and are playing motivated football.
  19. Good call on the score the first time. That was my mistake.
  20. Never miss a chance to stick it to the Giants.
  21. Roncalli is not Cathedral. They are tied to parishes...just like Chatard, Ritter, Guerin, etc.
  22. For the eighth time in the history of these two programs, Ben Davis and Center Grove meet in the Semi-State. Obviously, Center Grove is an amazing football team who is playing sensational football. The first time these two met earlier this year, the Trojans "mercy ruled" the Giants in a 35-14 win. It's going to be a high hill to climb, but BD has some balance that many of the other teams in the MIC did not. J'uan Swanson has emerged and the defense is playing stout football. Will it be enough to conquer Mr. Jackson, Mr. Steele, Mr. Delp and the amazing Trojans' D? Here we go!
  23. This was a great win for the Giants. Amazing how far the team has come since losing to Carmel made them 2-5 on October 2. Kudos to Jason Simmons and his staff for keeping the boat afloat. They're playing their best football right now.
