  1. All I know is Jayden Brewer had pretty much the best reason I've ever heard to transfer. His mom could no longer transport him due to the increased workload with the pandemic, and the IHSAA gave him limited eligibility for basketball. So the kid has to sit half his senior year because the IHSAA (and Avon) held up that transfer...yet I hear about other transfers. I'm not going to dig into people's business, but it just makes you wonder why some transfers go through slick as a whistle and others don't.
  2. I'm really interested how this happens. How does the IHSAA just allow it? I mean, if they move there...I guess it's ok. But how can this not be for athletic reasons at some level?
  3. I can't say that I precisely agree with you, but this does clarify your point. Thank you.
  4. Ok, I'll play. How do you figure athletic success or lack of it translates into "Public education is dying a slow death."??
  5. In this climate of politics, it's going to be very difficult to add on to school buildings. Requires the referendum, and, while many of those pass, it's a different situation when you're adding on to a school building. Will be interesting to see what happens.
  6. There was some old school nasty on the BD '91 squad. They were as tough as they were good. They'd pound you. Closest game was at state vs. Penn and I think, if memory serves, they were up 35-0 before Penn scored a couple. It's been 30 years so I may be foggy.
  7. It's possible. Those guys that liked Coach West may move to follow him. I'd think those considering a "move" might want to hedge their bets since Kirsch was the hire to replace West.
  8. I will say this...Center Grove does a lot of things right when it comes to building a culture and has for years. It is kind of a "Texas" type atmosphere when it comes to the community's support for high school athletics and football.
  9. Yes. Sure he can. He's done it with other players. Will he? Remains to be seen.
  10. As a former Franklin Central teacher, I'd love to see it. Franklin Central is supported by a special community, but, unless Center Grove is hit by a ton of injuries, there's no way they are getting out of Sectional anytime soon. Yeah, Coach West is a great football coach and has proved that at both his HC stops, but this is a heavier rebuild, IMO. Wish him well though.
  11. There's also this. The coach is gone, but yeah...it allegedly happened. http://www.dailyjournal.net/2021/02/01/ihsaa-violations-alleged-at-greenwood-christian/
  12. No room on BD's schedule for several seasons. It's my understanding that Brownsburg and Avon are locked down long term as out-of-conference foes. Kevin Wright is at Indiana now as an assistant to Tom Allen.
  13. '17 BD was supremely talented offensively. Reese Taylor was a human highlight film with an offense full of weapons. '06 Warren was good on both sides of the football. '91 BD was in that vein. They had a great mobile QB named Chris Ings and a phenomenal running back named Steve Holman. Steve was big and tough. The defense was also fantastic, and they had maybe the best kicker BD's ever had as well in Trinity Hines.
  14. I believe that Warren team had multiple 300 pounders up front. They wasted BD (ranked #2) 76-7 that year. Granted, BD may have been overrated to start the year, but they beat us up so bad in that game, BD had to start its fourth-string QB vs. TH North the next week.
  15. My gold standards are '06 Warren Central and '91 Ben Davis. Those two teams were exceptional. I don't know if we've seen the likes of them since or will see them again.
  16. I heard an urban legend that Penn at one point was contacted by Ben Davis and a handful of others about forming a conference like the MIC before the MIC. I don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard it.
  17. Center Grove is in Sectional 8. That means that they are south per the IHSAA.
