  1. Oh, you're still here. If there was so "little interest", why were there three TV outlets and three radio stations doing the game?
  2. Congratulations to the Trojans on a hard-fought victory. Very proud of the Giants. Thought they were going to make that comeback again. Just couldn't do it tonight.
  3. 1) I don't have the stats, but I do know that this community has a large number of students who must work to support the family. Some students are being raised by grandparent/s or a disabled single parent. It's a bigger factor than you know. Another problem is reliable transportation. It's about a half mile walk or so to the nearest bus line, and those buses run at weird times. They are done running late at night on the Westside. Our students are, in general, relying on others to transport them to and from school. 2) They cost money. Many of our families don't have that money to go around. Fundraising is important. 3) True. You go from Bob Wilbur to Dick Dullaghan to Tom Allen to Mike Kirschner to Jason Simmons, that's a pretty good run. I would say that it's getting harder to retain assistant coaches for obvious reasons...don't want to get political, but there's a teacher shortage for a reason. 4) See #1. I remember one of our coaches a few years back describing that they had a player living out of his car. 5) We do have a great stadium, and the district does a great job with the facilities, but it's hard for some of our families to come up with the necessary funds for practice packs and transportation fees, etc. Fundraising is necessary here adding another layer to the coach job description. I apologize to @Grover for my flippant comment. It was not reflective of how I try to conduct myself on this board. I apologize.
  4. @Bobref pretty much nailed it.
  5. Agree he'd be a great hire. It would be interesting to see what he could do with the Millers program. He's won everywhere he's been.
  6. Very true. BD can't put the ball on the ground and make the mistakes they made vs. Zionsville this week. Won't work. Yes, I remember that 4-3 game. BD had a long run called back due to a hold. What an awful win...if there is such a thing. Same year BD got toasted at Warren. BD had a 76-7 loss and a 4-3 win on the docket that year as well as a loss to Terre Haute North and a shutout win over Penn. What an up and down year. I really am impressed with the job that Jason has done this year. I have to admit that I didn't know where BD was headed at 1-3 coming off a 3-7 year last year, but it's been a fun experience seeing this group buy what Coach Simmons is selling.
  7. Just awful news for those students. So, will they be consolidating into Morton and Hammond?
  8. Another great honor for a Central Indiana coach. He may have done his best coaching job at Warren this year.
  9. Carmel's peaking the right time...just like the other MIC combatants.
  10. You're really out of touch.
  11. When BD still played Cathedral, I was always impressed with the support and the tailgating. It's definitely one of a kind!
  12. It did early in his tenure there. LN finished 2nd in the MIC under Coach Dilley.
  13. Mallory's arrival at LN has not gotten a ton of fanfare, but he deserves more credit for changing that culture. They now field a full, MIC-style roster with very good players. Tom Dilley's a great football coach, but I think in his last year he had 36 players finish the game against BD that year. Coach Mallory has done a great job and, with McCulley coming back next year, they will be strong.
  14. Wouldn't surprise me to see Merrillville hang around a while, but Carmel pulls away in the second half and wins by 3-4 scores. I feel 35-7 is a good number.
  15. Go back and look what they did against Warren, Carmel, and North Central. BD handed LC two scores, too. But yes, I'm sure they're just awful🙄. 37 points in the second half.
  16. Pike's like...COME ON MAN!
  17. The old Trojan Horse trick by the Trojans.
  18. Well, and I think because three of the usual suspects are back that the premise of the post is no longer accurate. 6A was apparently never wide open.
  19. He is. One of the best men I know. He has his heart and his priorities in the right place.
  20. Should also be noted that the game at Center Grove was key to where BD is now. Coach Simmons tells a great story when asked about it. Essentially, he did an analysis of the first four games and came down with some numbers. His review showed that the Giants played the majority of the first four games well, but it was the bad start vs. Brownsburg that buried them. The end of the half vs. Avon buried them. The end of the third quarter and start of the fourth against PIke prevented a bigger win vs. the Red Devils, and then the aforementioned sequence in the Center Grove game. He presented to the team and showed them how those small mistakes added up into big ones that were costing them games. They worked to tighten things up. He said that if they focused and reduced the seven percent of the season that was costing them games, they would win games. They did it the next week vs. Warren! Rest is history so far. I honestly didn't think we'd be here at this point talking about the Giants in the Semi-State when they were 1-3, but here we are. Congratulations to Coach Simmons who took a lot of slings and arrows. He has, as my friend Tevin Studdard said on Twitter, "remained the same through it all."
  21. I was unaware Bishop Dwenger and East Noble were in 6A.
  22. Mike Kirschner will have the Marauders ready. Go MV.
