Man , not being a rat, I’m in shock , with the awe you all are in ,with this hire. This pretty much puts the pressure button on the guy to perform, and perform quickly. I’ve seen this scenario before ,and it never seems to turn out the way everyone thinks it should. Good luck.

I’m really not talking 5 or 4a or even the rest of the lower enrollments. Just 6a here. Granted ,Carroll is in an affluent area of town and has the money for top notch facilities, but that is just one of the steps to get to where Marion and surrounding counties are right now. Plus as Homestead and Carroll get better, do you think Marion schools are staying the same? It will be several years before you see any consistent challenge from The Fort or the reigon , in 6a.

The region schools and Allen county schools are so far behind, it won’t happen in my lifetime, Marion and surrounding counties own 6a for years to come. Keep enrollment to 5a and win championships.

I have one that I was close to and have followed a few since that have gotten to the top. If it’s not contentness then maybe it’s know how, or can’t dedicate time? Again you keep referencing NHHS. So I’m not privy to that. Don’t want to get into any specific programs here , but in general discussion.

Ok, I was just iterating good “football programs” do it all now days, to stay relevant. Others are content to be mediocre, and if the schools are ok with that then this is ok also.

No ,what I’m saying is in general, nothing to do with NHHS situation, but being good at coaching and with the kids is not going to make a great program. These other leadership skills must be in place. A lot of good coaches never progress with a program because they don’t emphasize enough ,the other management requirements . They can’t be minimized and then expect to be a top program.

So what you are saying makes sense, it takes more than just a good coach to have a successful top to bottom program. Good program, ie feeder system, middle school control, even peewee influence. This is what you are insinuating?

You may be right . I have a little bit of a different take on the situation. This program ,basketball,was in similar shape as the football program was before Wilson took over. Crean literally could not coach players, 5 years in, it was obvious when we ended up with two, 2! now, top five picks in the NBA draft. And didn’t get past the sweet sixteen. That’s when he had his walking papers but was given a 2nd chance. And AD Glass lost respect.So recruiting was his savior first 5 years, then his Achilles. He alienated all indiana HS coaches and lost all the all stars to various other schools. The situation ,little Ryan Miller took over ,was in shambles to say the least. And A situation no reasonably established coach wanted any part of after, Sampson and Crean eras. So the time frame is at least 5 years for Arch, in my mind. To accumulate and form a team here. The defense is getting respect from other coaches around the league . Also the one and done thing makes it a little harder on a unproven coach. He continues to sign top Indiana kids, keeping them away from OSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Louisville, Etc. which is crucial to the success of the program. All schools know Indiana boys can ball. Indiana is not to far off on talent but I think next year will be a big bump in production for the program. The confidence is just not there yet ,as you can see the way they finish games this year. Let’s give it another few years here.

It was nice to see 3 Indiana D1 schools land in the top 25 in the AP poll. Although I think Ball state was under ranked by 5-10 spots. Conversely Indiana was over ranked by several spots. Not so sure about ND. though.

Ryan Walters hired from Missouri for DC, in addition to Tony Peterson, you already knew from Appalachian St. As OC.
