  1. Cool. Stay dry!!!
  2. In addition to turf, we need domed stadiums!!! Or maybe just throw some carpet down in the gym and play a 50 yard indoor war…
  3. May the best team win!
  4. Although I normally showcase ineptitude, the following games have the potential to be leg-en--wait for it--dary: Batesville-Lawrenceburg--the Bulldogs will most likely have to build a casket for the Bulldogs. Crown Point-Valparaiso--can anything stop Coach Buzz? Gibson Southern-Heritage Hills--I'm going with the Titans and Jay Cutler won't be under center for HH. Northwestern-Maconaquah--although MHS are the Braves, I like the Tigers in this one Triton-North Judson--the Blue Jays get caught napping to the Trojans and already focused on their Sectional final with South Newton is in a few weeks. Westfield-Brownsburg--the Rocks will roll.
  5. With all this talk of new conferences, here are some name ideas: Big 12--yeah, I know, done once with the 812's Big 8, how did that end? Catholic League--borrowed from our good friends the FIPS... City Speed League--applicable to our metro areas only... Hoosier Prairie Conference--two things we have a lot of Indiana Flyaway Conference--borrowed from our good friends who originated the term FIPs... Little 8/10/12 Conference--for our beloved 1A members... Sycamore League--recognizing Indiana's heritage should not be ignored The Valley--if the Missouri Valley conference in the NCAA can do it, so can we! Just pick any valley and go with it... Tomahawk League--see Sycamore League (also insert Rust Belt or any past topic).
  6. Although new conference are a good thing in my far from humble opinion, there are many traditionalists in the fine state of ours that would disagree. Good for them. But do they see the big picture? Logistics and (to borrow from @DT's vernacular) competitive balance are essential. Some leagues have, while others don't.
  7. Just got this alert: rain starting in 1 1/2 hours... Looks like I'll be in search of the Gore-Tex...
  8. The following could get real U-G-L-Y: they ain't got no alibi: Bluffton-Southern Wells (see I look at teams not in my area) North Posey-Tecumseh (not the camp in Brookston) Lawrence North-Ben Davis--might irk some West Siders, but the Giants are experiencing a rebuild Griffith-East Chicago Central--more than a case of the haves vs. the have nots.... Columbus North-Terre Haite North--funky architecture meets the baking powder maker of the world Penn-South Bend Adams--are there any good sales at the UP Mall? HEAD SCRATCHER OF THE WEEK Lafayette Jeff-Richmond--I don't see why the NCC is still in operation.....
  9. www.google.com
  10. Pretty low-class
  11. This has not been a particularly good week for former players from the Black & Blue division. Not only has Brett Favre announced that he has Parkinson's Disease, but Tommy Kramer of the Vikings has also just announced he has Demetia. I also understand Jim McMahon isn't his best self.
  12. In addition to the Midwest, the Hoosier Heartland and Wabash River would be viable. There's also this Monon thing or even Sagamore, but BC is a basketball first conference....
  13. They're almost a perfect fit for the Midwest.
  14. All good, brudda!
  15. My two cents, sorry you were rubbed the wrong way...
  16. Let it be known I'm not a Bears fan. But since I live in the Chicago area, I have observed a few things: 1. QB situation: although Caleb Williams may be a "generational talent", how good was he at USC against those mediocre-at-best Pac-12 defenses? Do the Bears have an O-line to protect him? 2. WR room: injuries, inconsistent play. and having to lean on recent draft picks to produce a lot. 3. Who do they have at running back? 4. The defense needs to set up, not being very monster-like at this juncture. 5. Stadium issues--yes, Soldier Field was once an amazing venue but is now one of the smallest in the NFL. Iam not in favor of a new downtown stadium, why shackle residents with more taxes? Build it at the old Arlington Park site or Rosemont. 6. Ownership--someone needs to let the geriatric McCaskeys know, it is no longer 1985.
  17. Although things don't look good, most fields have turf, so...
  18. "Even the darkest night will, and the sun shall rise..."
  19. No, these games don't feature Brownsburg, Crown Point, or any other team with that far from creative nickname. It's just all of teams playing have less than stellar win-loss records this season: Bedford North Lawrence-Jennings County--in honor of Damon Bailey, I'll take the Stars. Bishop Dwenger-Northrop--Sr. Rita would paddle me if I didn't pick the Catholics! Bowman Academy-North White--Although I used to date a NW alumna, gotta go with the MWC Caston-Culver--although the Comets bailed from the MWC, I'm stuck on Caston's epically long bus rides. Corydon Central-Salem--I know a girl from our former state capitol--sweet girl. Going with the Lions on this one. Goshen-Wawasee--even if Ricker Mirerererer was playing, the Redhawks would go down to WHS. Union City-Union County--the Union must be preserved at all costs. Good luck to all!
  20. To the victor the spoils. We will, we will rock you. If it ain't worth winning big, it ain't worth winning. Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing. I am a soldier; I fight where I am told, and I win where I fight. Victory belongs to the most persevering Full effort is full victory. Faith is necessary for victory. Victory: a matter of staying power. Winners never quit and quitters ever win.
  21. Look, football isn't a peace & love/everybody gets a trophy kind of thing. It's violent and abrasive and as Jessie Spano (played by the lovely Elizabeth Berkeley) said in a "Saved by the Bell" episode, "it's a bunch of barbarians trying to kick each other's butts." So, lopsided scores are part of the game, deal with it.
  22. "Greed is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed cuts through, clarifies, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit." --you know who (Gordon Gekko/Michael Douglas) because it is far too early for me to be wise.
