  1. Iowa didn't have much of an offense...and it showed. Michigan State didn't have much of a pass defense...and it showed. Ohio State has both. Although Stroud can be shaky, they have great WRs and decent running backs. I also fear their defense and just hope Purdue keeps it respectable.
  2. Foodie, townie--you guys hit the jackpot!!! No, Lowell does not have a dearth of fine dining, but there are some good places: 1. McVey's--about a mile west of the Inferno on SR 2/Commercial Avenue. The only fine dining spot in our little burg. Pricey, but well worth it. 2. Mi Ranchito--two miles west of the Inferno on the main drag. Very authentic, the owners are from Mexico. Great food and better maragaritas. 3. George's--across the street from the high school. Will give Denny's (of which there's one at I-65 & SR 2) that is, well, Denny's... $. Bearski's--Awesome local sports bar with decent food and drinks. 5. Dicky's Dogs--a Portillo's wannabe, but not bad. 6. Aurelio's Pizza--real good sit down pizza place. 7. Pizza Hut--not any better, but cheaper 8. Loven Oven--Best pizza in town 9. Athens Grill--great take out Greek and American food. 10. No. ! Chinese--more like only one, but still pretty good take-out 11. Chicquito Mexico--not bad, but not as Charming as Mi Ranchito. 12. There's also a Shoop's Hamburgers in town, but they have odd hours. Normal fast food, too.
  3. Best of luck, my friend.
  4. You are absolutely right. LSU is just 2 years removed from a National Championship and they have no tolerance for mediocrity. If Brohm has a season or even a few bad games there, he could easily find himself unemployed.
  5. Good for you, seriously. I’m not blind, it can do much more harm than good. Just keep on keeping on.
  6. Just a few. I also expect them to proudly wear the Big 10 decal on their jerseys for the bowl game. I’ll be the first to admit I want a New Year’s Day game, but I’m cool with anywhere they go really. Case in point: Vegas Bowl, 12/30.
  7. Last time I checked both Purdue and MSU are state schools.
  8. Ugly game indeed, one to grow on. GB’s lead in the North is still in the stratosphere, no losing sleep here…
  9. Both very good questions. As for other college jobs, I could see at least LSU, USC, and probably Nebraska now looking at him. As for the NFL, I think the position of Offensive Coordinator would better suit him. As for Purdue, just keep Brad Lambert and Mark Hagen should Brohm bolt.
  10. With these, I don’t know if I should go or not: 2000 Outback Bowl—lost to Georgia 2001 Rose Bowl—lost to Washington Then again, if Purdue gets a bid from the Las Vegas bowl, I’m probably going because A) Vegas, baby and B) I would love to see a game in Allegiant Stadium.
  11. The Boilers are bowl eligible!!! Here are some Gipperjections: 6-6 record (not very likely): Quick Lane or Pinstripe 7-5 (still not feeling it): Duke’s Mayo or Music City 8-4 (most likely): Las Vegas or Outback 9-3 (you never know): Citrus or Rose
  12. Wasn’t all that surprised. Ohio State underwhelmed…again. Although they won’t be in the top 5 next week, this a very winnable game for the Boilers.
  13. Interesting take. Some games, such as Lawrence North-Center Grove, Lowell-New Prairie, Central Catholic-Scecina are close enough a neutral site isn’t really needed. Furthermore, I graduated from a Class A school. Long bus rides were an accepted part of the deal.
  14. Thanks. Admittedly, last night’s display was not good. Unfortunately, it’s not an isolated incident. From “Malice at the Palace” (NBA) to bench clearing brawls in baseball, to every fight that has arisen in football, violence and belligerence is way too commonplace in sports. Do we need to switch to a non-meat diet?
  15. This wasn’t the first fight between two teams. There was a lot at stake, emotions were running high. Although it was a very bad outcome, It’s Trump’s fault.
  16. The way I see it, success on the high school level doesn’t always translate to success on the college level. The two are entirely different. Mr. Steele is getting a quality education and the opportunity to star for the next 4 years at Ball State.
  17. Good night for the Northwest Crossroads Conference: Andrean 49, Whiting 0 Lowell 38, Hobart (NWCC member as well) 10 Hanover Central 26 (future member), Knox 14 OK, although Munster lost to Valpo, we had 5 teams playing for Sectional championships, not too shabby.
  18. Lowell 24, Hobart 3 Hanover Central 19, Knox 14 Both in 3rd Quarter Always good to see new blood in the Regional round…
