I am one who believes while this is a big game, the loser can redeem themselves on Dec 19th barring neither team losing to that point. And with the way covid is exploding with the holidays coming up who knows where things will be

With the spike State Wide of Covid, that could become interesting. I was wondering if local authorities may pull back on crowd size -

Wonder how physical the Logansport run game is since SJ has had trouble tackling physical backs this year Concord - tough one to gauge but Adams athletes could be the difference -
NIC TEAMS in Sectional Play Week # 1

Wow - a couple of surprises. Not sure what has happened to NP but I did not see that coming. From when I saw them in person to now it is like a complete slide the wrong way. Watched about an hour on TV and the Plymouth QB is a beast. KV losing to Culver. Not as surprised. Culver has a couple of athletes some teams may find hard to stop Marian went as expected as did Bremen - TIppy beating Wash. had that one same with Jimtown Logansport running for 400 yds did not know theyw ere that good but play in a touch conference Have to feel for Clay so many coaches over the past few year and so few kids - very tough - those that played it out should be commended -
Postseason cancellations

With the Covid #'s rising, this should have been expected. This is why Ohio shortened the season and end much earlier. The fact remains the behavior and attitudes of people and whether they follow the guidelines or not effects many other people. -

With the outbreak in the state especially heavy in Lake, St. Joseph, and Elkhart Counties there could be more -
I 2nd that but last year I thought they had to keep him as coach because you could see the Blazers responded to him. Now he was able to take 2 and make 1 and was very successful Let's see how far they can go

SBCSC Board has had years to make the downsizing and failed to do so. They need to act but I sense they fear a charter school will take over the building and they will lose more kids. I could see 2 high schools and maybe a vocational one. I do not see what advantage any conference would gain with Penn and ELK. FW has a great conference and all close by. NLC will not move to make it better since it seems to be working. Penn and Lk are more or less stuck or play a football only non conference schedule. Duneland again travel and time difference

South Bend Clay was the focus of the article The following was copied from the article Volleyball teams from Lafayette Central Catholic and Riverton Parke also had to withdraw from sectional play this week due to COVID-19 related issues. LCC was slated to play in the Class 1A sectional at Covington, while Riverton Parke was in the Class 2A North Putnam Sectional field.

The paper this morning reported at least 3 volleyball teams would not be participating in the state tournament due to covid issues. It is the sign of the times unfortunately With the cases reported growing in Indiana anything could happen with the upcoming football tournament

Marian - Elkhart Game Cancelled

Lot of people talking but with HIPPA you have to be very careful. As the numbers pick up players need to watch their surroundings and what they do because you cannot afford to shut down after this week -

How many schools may not be interested because of the size of the school, and the talent on the field? Many schools would not accept that challenge. -

So, if 6 players were in quarantine and the rest of the team was negative, they why could they have not played? Unless it was who was in quarantine and not the #. -
Hard to believe - end of the regular season Friday, Oct. 16 Bremen at Clay ©, 7 pm Elkhart at New Prairie ©, 7:30 pm Penn at Adams ©, 7 pm Riley at Jimtown ©, 7 pm St. Joseph at Marian ©, 7 pm Washington at Glenn ©, 7 pm

Marian - Elkhart Game Cancelled

In Mishawaka, Marian High School, which had been teaching students entirely in person, switched Thursday to hybrid until at least Oct. 30, citing “an increase in the number of confirmed positive cases within the school community,” according to a letter that Principal Mark Kirzeder sent to parents, obtained by The Tribune. Because it has players quarantined after contact tracing determined they had been exposed to people who have tested positive, Marian Thursday announced it had canceled its highly anticipated football game Friday against Elkhart. Both teams are undefeated. It was unclear how many new cases Marian has seen. The private school is reporting its student and staff cases to the Indiana State Department of Health’s online schools COVID-19 dashboard, but the state updates it only on Mondays. Kirzeder declined an interview request Thursday, referring The Tribune to the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. Diocese spokeswoman Jennifer Simerman said Superintendent Joseph Brettnacher declined to be interviewed unless he could receive questions in advance, a practice that violates Tribune policy.
