Weird that the NW regional isn't LCC vs Pioneer but North Judson vs Carroll (Flora). NJ favored I assume? Watching both, Carroll's run game could give NJ some problems. -

They are playing well no doubt tonight. Negative a bit but more cautious. I want them to get to Indy like everyone else. Already thinking how they need to keep Wanner off balance and watch for the screens. Not thrilled about playing on the crap field in Berne. -

They better tackle Triton's QB & RB better than what they did against Busco. Those 2 are physical runners watching highlights. Hoping the AC lines are better than Triton's or it could be interesting. -

Yeah probably right on 17, but going in with Schultz & Macklin I thought the outcome would be different. Should have also said 2019 greatly over achieved by upsetting SA at regional too. -

2015 I saw an AC team lose a week before they should. 2016 almost lost 2 weeks before they should have (luckily they got to SS). 2017 saw Southwood not just upset but dominate them. 2018 & 2019 did what they were supposed. 2020 they lost a week before they should as well. I want this team to get to LOS, but I just listed why I want to take it one week at a time. -

AC just wants to beat Triton first. One week at a time. -

I'm impressed with Triton's QB & RB. They play hard nosed football from highlights I've watched. -
There really wasn't a field available as AC used Bluffton's turf. I doubt MC was going to drive to Woodlan or Heritage just to play on turf. Berne has a ton of $, so we will see if they upgrade the field with donations.

Yep that's correct. They forgot about the 3rd quarter TO by MC evidently.

It was head scratching. I watched the 2nd half after AC had wrapped up their win in their 1st half. My cousin had been watching the SA 1st half and saying Kennedy was having his way but MC couldn't figure out the redzone. They never tried truly running it the whole 2nd half. Injury would have to be the answer. The end of game debacle has to be sent to the IHSAA. That was unacceptable all around regardless of shortage. It's the playoffs and it matters.

Week 2 Sectional Scores
Basementbias replied to Lysander's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
The crew working South Adams vs Monroe Central has to be removed from officiating the rest of the tournament. Monroe Central got 4 TOs in 2nd half. SA should have been able to kneel it out instead of giving another chance to MC. Luckily it ended up a non factor but it could have been. That can't happen in the tournament. I know there is a shortage, but that is unacceptable. -

They need him this week! He could be a difference maker with his athleticism compared to the first matchup. You'd have to respect his dual threat capabilities, while without him it's either passing or handing off to a RB. He could bring RPO for SA. -
State tournament and playing fields

I watched the game again and replayed over and over the plays on both sides. The pulling linemen had a rough night to say the least on the offense. Busco also did a good job with the MLB #25 blitzing off a pulling guard as well. The wings had a hard time blocking as well, but the way they line up makes it hard on a few of the plays. On defense, it was clear Busco outnumbered them by pulling guard & tackle to a specific side. We need another quick DE to go with Currie and move Wurm to DT with Hirschy. Wurm is a great player but couldn't get to the edge fast enough as DE. Up the middle they drove Moon back multiple times into the LBS. Wurm & Moon are young and will be really good in the future. I think Bluhm may need to go DE & bring in another LB. Bluhm standing over the center felt like it took him out of the edge support to help Wurm. I know the turf can help our wings this week, but I also think it helps Southwood's offense even more. A muddy field in Monroe would extremely hurt the Southwood offense more than AC's. I guess hopefully advancing and getting another possible home game is the only benefit I can see. I'd rather see neutral site for regional and semi state anyway. I'm sure if that ever happens, it'd be turf for those games. -

I don't like moving the game to Bluffton. I'd rather AC play in a slop with their ground & pound game at home. This playoff draw has not been what I hoped. Only 3 regular season home games already and now moving the home playoff game to a close neutral site that helps the opponent. -

Field conditions coming into play this week. AC moved their home game to Bluffton's turf. AC has a great grass field that's well maintained. I think that helps AC's opponent Southwood & their offense than if the game was played in Monroe. Meanwhile SA hosts Monroe Central. SA has an ok field but it doesn't do as well in the rain as ACs. I think that muddy field in Berne could help SA against MC. Did AC beat SA to the punch to get Bluffton's turf or is this by design in each matchup? -

He was a key part of their offense before getting hurt. SA has done well replacing him, but he can add another level to their offense. -

That was my thought as well. Is he healthy enough to be back? -

Anyone heard if A Wanner will be back this week for SA to play against MC? -

Don't get me wrong, they won and that's all that matters. On to Southwood and hopefully another win. -

Maybe Heyerly imposing his will, but the line sure didn't. That was evident with Newy and Currie's stats. Not saying any play calling at youth or middle school is equivalent to high school, but the offense is easy to slow down like Busco did. There isn't much to deviate because of the formation. How much will Heyerly have left in the tank if it has to be that way each week? Really Black only had one keeper that went for yardage. That was snuffed out as well. Black is going to have to stay in and deliver the ball in the pocket. We need more than just Heyerly to be able to get his own yards. The conference did us no favors to prepare us for the playoffs. It would be nice to get more formations to put in the offense. -

Busco was good & physical, but they too were predictable on offense. If both teams are going to be that predictable, then you better be sure that you can impose your will. This has been the problem for AC's offense for years. I had to use some other plays & formations at the lower levels as teams were prepared for the same plays we run in HS. The size & physicality MC has on the lines is a threat along with their skill players being able to run or pass. AC's pads game was non existing last night and that's a problem. -

AC survives Churubusco. Busco exposed AC weaknesses. I'd have MC as a favorite at this point. Hope I'm wrong, but AC has work to do against tough opponents.
