  1. 2023 Westfield 7 on 7 (7th & 8th Grade) Coach, We are reaching out to schools around here who may be interested in joining us. Westfield will host 7th & 8th grade 7 on 7 on Thursday, July 13th from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM. Games will be at our high school stadium which has turf as well as our grass practice fields next door. Incoming 7th grade teams, and 8th grade teams (or a combo of both) are invited. Players will need a helmet, shoulder pads, mouthpiece, cleats, and if possible the team in the same color of jerseys. We want this to be a positive experience for everyone so coaches are welcome to be on the field. Games are 20 minutes with a 5 minute break in between. Warm-up on the fields will be available starting at 9 AM and we will get together for a rules meeting at 9:30 on the stadium mid-field logo. We will conclude the last games around 11:30. We look forward to another great experience for all teams/players involved as we prep for the upcoming Fall. Contact us for more info and let us know if you will be coming & which grade the team(s) you want to bring. Zachary Zimmer, Greg Pope zimmerz@wws.k12.in.us, popeg@wws.k12.in.us

  4. I'm currently reading 'Race and football in America" by Dawn Knight. It highlights George Taliaferro and by the title alone am hoping by reading it I can continue to do my part to make this world a better place. I know Dick Dullaghan wrote a book, "Reflections of Indiana football". I've read "Chasing perfection" and 'The right kind of Heros". I was wondering what other books are out there written about HS football.
  5. I'm interested in if and how teams are addressing this? We need to do better. We need to listen, educate, and do much much more than just wait until something happens. Stop thinking racism doesn't exist. https://www.wishtv.com/news/local-news/westfield-washington-schools-responds-to-blackface-photo-releases-statement/
  6. For all the finals this weekend the change of possession has been an either very quick play clock start or longer than usual. The quick start has resulted in what I recall at least 2 teams getting a delay of game to start their drive. The delay if course being commercial breaks which I understand both teams are dealing with but when it comes to momentum it puts damper in things at times. Lastly, I miss hearing Coach Dullaghan. I wish more retired coaches or even current coaches, would call these games. Nothing against who is calling the games this weekend.
  7. That was a top notch post game winning coach interview.
  8. I was wondering if Boser played dline back in the day?

  12. Thanks. I'm curious how places like Edgewood, Wabash, and Southmont get ahold of the $ to do this.
  13. Is there a break down anywhere on how many 1-3a teams have turf fields? I'm also curious about how many from the north vs south have turf fields.
  14. Westfield has hosted a summer 7 on7 for several years with the exception of last summer. Westfield Middle School will host our 7 on 7 on Saturday July 17th, 2021 Games will be at our stadium which has turf as well as our grass practice fields Incoming 8th grade teams or a combo of both 7/8th are invited. Players will need a helmet, shoulder pads, mouthpiece, cleats, and if possible the team in the same color of jerseys. 16. Bringin back the fullback! That was a lot of carries by one player. Anyone have a record for amount of carries in a state championship?Great game!
  17. I know Washington was one of the 3 who conceded the sectional championship. Who were the other 2?
  18. Just curious, does anyone have a tally of regular season games cancelled, round 1 sectional, round 2, etc?
  19. Which teams that are 5a and 6a do NOT play on turf home fields?
  20. I wonder if anyone has requested to use a college football stadium for their games this fall? This would allow for a larger crowd to attend and be able to socially distance the fans, bands, etc.
