No doubt he flopped. But it’s still a good call. There’s a sort of sliding scale of roughness vs. timing in calling the foul. The more time passes after the ball is gone, the less rough the contact needs to be to call roughing. Conversely, much rougher conduct can pass muster if it’s very shortly after the passer releases the ball. This was waaaayyy too late. It wasn’t inadvertent. It was a gratuitous shove. But I doubt Josh Allen has spent any money on tacting lessons.

ESPN reporting this morning that both Pace and Nagy will be retained. Disappointed, but not surprised. So, that leaves the big off season question: What does the future hold at the QB position? Trade? Bring in someone to compete with Trubisky for the starting job? Sign a free agent starter and keep Trubisky as a backup? Trade and move up in the draft to pick a rookie QB?

I think what Brady has done this season should put to rest any lingering criticism that he would be unsuccessful without Belichek and McDaniels. He’s become the de facto offensive coordinator of the Bucs, and has been among the elite in the league the second half of the season. He’s got a tall task against New Orleans.
