Honestly, when the IHSAA set up the “new” 5A, the only legit team was Snider....and they bumped up and down between 5A and 6A.

Back down to 5A next season just in time for an uptick in talent. Doesn't make much sense, but nonetheless, they'll be a legitimate contender next year.

Concordia was also without their starting QB for week 2 and 3. If he had played during the Homestead game in week 2 I think the Cadets could have definitely won. If they were to play again though I wouldn't expect it to be as close as week 2.

To be fair, Homestead wasn't exactly healthy themselves until week 3 or so if my memory serves me correctly.

Right now you can’t use ANY analytics.......Sagarin, MaxPreps/CalPreps, etc. because we have 2 closed conferences in Indiana (SAC and SIAC) and it takes a few weeks AFTER playoffs have already started to see just where those teams rank relative to the rest of the state.

The only alternative is to eliminate conferences (or, at least eliminate closed conferences....but you still need several non-conference games to get reliable numbers) and that isn’t happening.

Alignments wouldn't be assessed until the season is over. We would have four seasons in the books. I think everyone is in agreement that the Sagarin Rating is pretty accurate by seasons end. Not sure how else to do it. The IHSAA should take advantage of this opportunity that's been gifted to them. Sagarin ONLY does this for the state of Indiana. They should put it to use somehow.

Whats your logic?  Im firm at 2.0   It sends a signal not only to Indiana, but to the country that we are serious about maintaining competitive balance.

My logic is that 1.5 is too weak, and 2.0 is too strong. Let's meet in the middle at 1.75. I don't see Dwenger playing at the 6a level. Would it make 6a North more interesting? Absolutely. Will Dwenger ever be crowned as state champions? I'm 95% certain the answer is "no."  Snider hasn't won the big class in almost three decades. If the Panthers can't beat schools three times their enrollment, then neither can the Saints. Those two programs have been on equal footing for years with a slight edge going to Snider.

If I were a dictator..................and I sincerely wish I was; I would throw out the idea of a multiplier even though I've been an advocate of it for years. My position has changed since I have no desire to see New Palestine win 4a every single year............unless we continue using the point system for the publics.

Realignment every four years instead of two using the current point system x 2.

Using Sagarin, I would place the the top sixteen programs during that four year period into 6a.

Divide the remaining five classes according to enrollments and points.

If we are being honest with ourselves, the 6a class is an even bigger problem than the dominance of the p/p's. Cut it in half............from 32 to 16..............problem solved.

I'm not sure why what we are currently using doesn't work. If a team is successful and earns enough points they "bump up".

It doesn't make sense because talented classes typically run in two year cycles. The 19' & 20' teams do well, then the program has a downturn in talent. The less talented kids move up a class. Actually, it makes no sense at all. Reclassify every four years in my opinion.

Look at Sagarin ratings in the conferences as a basis for comparison, although that won’t help with the “pound for pound issue,” and Sagarin is of limited value as far as the SAC’s “closed” schedule is concerned. Perhaps it’s a question without a clear cut answer.

Sagarin had three teams from the SAC in the top ten last week after the conference got it's first taste of outside competition. This week didn't do them any favors though........especially the Warsaw game.

What would you suggest? Only conference champs are allowed to be considered when looking at total strength of the league? Not sure it would be possible. 5 possible titles for regionals is just how it's sliced..to say the sac is declining is a bit of a knee jerk reaction... Play in the class your assigned and advance is all you can do. I am wondering besides the 2 we all know about who else would be top 5 conference and why?

We could also debate that the SAC is best pound for pound. But for now we'll take #3 overall. Southend is off base and you are right, it was probably just a knee jerk reaction from last night. I think we all know that the SAC is a stronger conference with Homestead and Carroll. Both those programs are at their peak as a result of amping up their competition.

They had to attempt passes to keep them honest..run game looked good although all facets of the game must be solid for 6a ball..HHS exposed some weaknesses as good teams will do that to ya..kudos to the seniors who played their hearts out..sparty losing their rb may hurt later on..they reminded me of a school that got moved south this year..color scheme n all..

They didn't need the pass game last night to beat Homestead. To be fair, Homestead is the better team. But for Snider to have a chance, they should have been running 9 of 10 plays. Had they done that against Carroll last year, they would have won by two touchdowns. Pass plays are drive killers for this particular Snider team.

Moving forward. I like Homestead against Warsaw..........probably by a couple of touchdowns. Homestead has a much better defense than Carroll and an offense that is just as good.

Please. I can debate anything. 😄😂

Sounds like Carroll got a heavy dose of “Bart Ball.” A lot of teams have had a tough time with that over the years. The guy can coach.

I won't question that. He did exactly what he had to to stay in the game. The defense forced a couple of turnovers and that was all she wrote.

  9. The SAC is the third best conference in the state. There is no debating that.

Carroll just ran into a team that they didn't match up well with. Everything about Warsaw screamed upset. And after watching the game, I'm not so sure it was even an upset. They did exactly what they had to do to pull it off. Run the ball, eat clock, and force a turnover. Last nights game doesn't mean that the SAC is down and that Warsaw would beat every team in the SAC. It just means they drew the team they had to draw to advance.

There will be more state championships for the SAC in the near future. Snider has a good shot by going down to 5a with an upturn in talent. Dwenger will always be in the hunt no matter what anyone says. I wouldn't even count Luers out this year, though next year might be a bit better for them. Concordia is solid and keep an eye out on Wayne in 4a.

Well that was same result tonight. Secondary never seemed to have their heads/eyes up, heads down reacting, not being proactive. Snider did play better, a bit. Brown ran good, Haupert needs to work on his passing, many overthrows and bad decisions into 2x/3x coverage. Also 2 bad swing passes to flat that are borderline lateral. The second one that he did had bad call by ref IMO, looked to be a turnover. Onto 2021 I guess.

Snider could be the favorite in the SAC next year. Haupert will be a better passer. He's already a good runner. They will run over teams if they want to. But they have to want that.

Hats off to Warsaw. I really never paid much attention to them in past, they are up and coming program, Bart made a difference for sure, he is a Hall of Fame coach to be in IN HS football in my mind. I will for sure watch game at Homestead next week. Initial thoughts in Sparty D is way better so Warsaw may not be able to score like they did tonight. I do like the Tiger D and O set, so I thinking game will be a close one.

Homesteads defense is MUCH better than Carroll's. I don't think Warsaw matches up well with the Spartans. Homestead is just a well rounded team.

I'm curious in what type of D Snider plays in secondary?? They never seem to have their eyes on the QB, heads are down looking at the receiver, not watching the ball & QB. Just wondering, because they really look bad back there.

They've been coached like that for years. The idea is that if you are looking at the quarterback, the receiver can gain a step or two. Separation. Touchdown.

Snider gets off to 10-0 lead vs Homestead. They need to continue to heavy rush/blitz Homestead QB, like they did on first possession. Homestead just scored, Snider's secondary can't do this without D line pressure up front. Homestead QB will pick them alive if Snider rushes only 3 or 4.

Snider can win if they keep it on the ground. Messing around with the pass is killing drives.
