  1. I would agree with that one. I wouldn't agree with flagging a kid for making a first down gesture. I get it, it's debatable.
  2. Yes, that's probably why they got him. They probably made the correct call within the confines of the rule. I just don't like the rule. Let the kids play and celebrate. The second one could have been for something said rather than something done. Hard to tell from the video.
  3. Fast forward to 1:50:30 & 3:08:30
  4. I witnessed something a bit different in the Snider/North Side game. The panthers learned not to have fun or show any swagger. They received penalties for both and it really slowed their momentum down. Remember officials, football really is supposed to be fun. You're there to do a job, we get that. But don't get overly flag happy. Let kids celebrate. And if a kid makes a first down gesture, who cares as long as they're not jawing at their counterparts.
  5. You could have a good argument there, but it's really hard to say since those conferences, from top to bottom, have the largest enrollment schools.
  6. I think there are some very very good coaches in Indy. Guys like Moore, Gilbert, and Ralph are easily among the states best. I'm just not sure how you can conclude that coaching is better in Central Indiana. If you take away all mega schools and PP's, I think you'll find that there is pretty good balance throughout the entire state.
  7. Lol, "Indy coaching good.?" What makes a coach from Indy better than a coach from a different area. We've already determined that Indy schools have a massive amount of resources. But what makes their coaches better in your opinion?
  8. Coaches must agree. They have the Pirates as the #1 team in 5a. Sounds like they'll coast to Lucas.
  9. Carroll at Luers - The Chargers did well in the off season transfer portal, the Knights did not. That's the difference in this one. Concordia at South Side - I think both programs are trending up, but the difference in this one is the return of Mannigel. North Side at Snider - Another winner in the off season transfer portal, North fights for their lives and keep it close. Northrop at Homestead - Tough first game for a first time head coach. Homestead by multiple scores. Wayne at Dwenger - The Saints put their best foot forward with all of the upset talk, but it's close.
  10. I wanna say the coaches and AD's met and voted on it. It sounds like the SIAC and SAC have much in common. Ever heard someone say "you are who you hang out with?" That's really what it boiled down to I think. If you want to be the best team at the end of the season, it certainly does no harm by seeing some of the best teams during the regular season. It gives you a benchmark as to how good you need to be in the postseason to advance to state.
  11. Dwenger vs Wayne intrigues me. Upset alert.
  12. 2023 can't come soon enough. The first two weeks of the season will be interesting and exciting to say the least :). As far as the 2022 is concerned, I'm looking forward to one SAC team in particular that has potential for a state title run.
  13. Agree. It also gives our teams a false sense of superiority when they play a one win team out of Indy. When you're playing the MIC or HHC, you put your best foot forward or you clean out your lockers. It's really that simple. Mega giants Carmel, Ben Davis, and Warren Central groomed the rest of Indy. Indy groomed the burbs. The SAC groomed Homestead and Carroll. Now playing outside the bubble, Indy teams in particular, will groom the SAC. Great job with outsidethehuddle.net. Some of the best promotion of high school football I've seen. More of us should support our local athletics versus giving our hard earned dollars to billion dollar college programs and overpaid professional athletes and coaches. They seem to understand this in Texas and Ohio. High school football stadiums in Indiana have way too many empty seats. How many times have you heard, "I don't have any kids in high school anymore?" My response: "Oh really, how many do you have playing at Notre Dame and the Colts?"
  14. Temptation and I have had some fun conversations about that 2019 Homestead team. I'm not sure the Spartans got the motivation they needed for Noblesville. Too many people look at wins and losses and not the quality of the competition. I don't think they were too jacked up to travel 2 hours to play a 1-9 football team. The Miller's were under estimated for sure. The following week they outplayed Indy's best team for a half without their best player. In fact, I think a healthy Homestead team was probably Top 5 that year. I have no issues with Noblesville and Avon being pre-season Top 25. But I have a major issue with no Fort Wayne teams in a Top 25 poll. It's never happened in the history of the game, and it won't happen this year either. Happy dickhead?
  15. Overall a good writeup. Stats don't lie. Your only blemish was the comment about no 6A team being competitive in the last decade. Snider was probably a Top 5 team in 2017 and was one mishap from routing the Greyhounds on their way to a semi-state appearance. I also think you have to give Carroll some props last year. They were Top 10 in my opinion. Down only 8 points late in the third quarter against Westfield has to be considered "competitive." And if it wasn't for the injury bug, Homestead was Top 10 in 2019. In terms of wins and losses? Yeah, the article is pretty much spot on. Get better or get used to it.
  16. I'm not sure I've ever seen that either. I'm sure it's happened, I've just never seen it personally. When a D1 program comes calling, you go. Look how many times a kid has been committed to a mid-major, then jumps ship at the last minute when a Power Five program comes calling. Kids always tend to gravitate toward the highest level of play.
  17. And is he talking all sports or just football? I'm looking forward to him chiming in here. I really want to know what his resource was. Cathedral would be at the top of my list as well. I just don't think there is a legitimate stat out there for that information.
  18. That can't be correct, unless he's talking percentage of student body.
  19. I had no idea. If that's correct, then kudos to them. I was really talking about the Region as a whole. If I were a betting man though, I'd venture to guess that Bloomington North and Merrillville don't rank #1 and #2. I have nothing to back up my claim, I'm just speculating. If they are 1 and 2, then I'd like to know who or what your source is.
  20. Regardless of how many offers Merrillville kids are receiving, we all know that the talent pool per capita is the same in the Region as it is in Fort Wayne or Indianapolis. However, as DT suggested, the Region isn't producing the same amount of D1 athletes that the other markets are. Fort Wayne has OPS and Traction AP and both are responsible for producing D1 kids. Are there any such facilities in the Region?
  21. This summer sometime? Not really sure of the details. Dabo Swinney says it best: “My transfer portal is right there in that locker room, because if I’m constantly going out every year and adding guys from the transfer portal, I’m telling all those guys in that locker room that I don’t believe in them, that I don’t think they can play,” Swinney said. “We’re also not doing our job as coaches and recruiters if we’re bringing in a bunch of transfers. We’re not going to build our roster on transfers.”
