  1. I didn't watch last night. What was the reasoning for Ohio State over Georgia and Michigan? Two high caliber wins over Notre Dame and Penn State?

Agree 100%. First off, by playing for a game tying field goal, you're leaving time on the clock for Penn State to drive down the field and take the lead.........which we all knew would happen. And if it did go to overtime, good luck and God bless playing in Happy Valley. The three run plays had me shaking my head.
  3. I was watching Notre Dame/Pitt with my father and remember turning to him and asking why the starters were still playing with the game well in hand. Low and behold, Mitchell Evans goes down with a torn ACL. Thoughts on this? They finally did bring in another quarterback, but left most the other starters in. Wanted to give the new QB reps with the first string? Are reps not good enough with the second string? I'm not trying to tear Freeman down, I like the guy. I just don't understand why they were pouring it on with the starters already up 40 points. I've always believed that you rest your starters as soon as you can and give the backups much needed reps.
  4. Was that covid year (2020) when they waxed Snider by 30? Otherwise you have to go back to 2013 or 2011. Those were North's three victories over Snider going back to the early 90's. Snider's punished this program since the retirement of Dale Doerffler.
  5. Likewise.............back at ya.
  6. Until these teams start playing each other, there's no way to come up with an accurate rating. We can all think that Brownsburg, Center Grove, and Ben Davis are the best three teams in the state. But good luck after that, lol. I'll give you my Top 25 after Thanksgiving weekend. Keep the receipt, I'll probably forget.
  7. Warren also almost beat Ben Davis. Snider also lost to Homestead. C'mon Temp. Carroll lost convincingly to Warsaw. Would the Tigers beat HSE? We could do this all day. Trying to figure out who sits where between 12-25 is a lost cause at the moment.
  8. No thanks. After the top 12 or 13 it's a crapshoot. I don't have time to decipher that.
  9. Must have been disguised as something else tonight, didn't see any posing as refs.
  10. Warren Central still ranks somewhere around that 15 mark, which makes them a pretty good team. Carroll sits around that 10 mark. After that, the SAC is pretty far down this year. The loss against Homestead is a dark spot on their resume.
  11. Upon further review: 1. Snider 2. Bloomington South 3. Valpo 4. Merrillville Last four out: 5. Decatur Central 6. Harrison 7. Bloomington North 8. Mishawaka
  12. Sagarin is a good guide, but I don't think it would be hard to form an intelligent committee. I think anyone with half a brain would at least look at the Sagarin Ratings. It doesn't have to be the final factor though. I'm just saying that if I were on the committee, no offense to Bloomington South, they wouldn't be #1. Without digging too deep, I'm thinking it's probably Snider or Valpo.
  13. Bloomington South falls to 3 or 4 based on strength of schedule.
  14. Are you still coaching at Merrillville? If not, how do you handle a situation when you're up 50 points at halftime? Do you put your second stringers in to work on depth and the next year? Or do you go for 100?
  15. I think East Central, Chatard, and a few other teams have a shot at that 5 or 6 spot. We'll know more as the weeks go by. I think 3 & 4 is a little aggressive.
  16. Hard to debate your Top Four. I think Fishers is up there in the Top 6, but I'll defer to the Indy guys.
  17. Five hours shy of October 31st, this thread deserves a bump.
  18. Agree, it's hard to trust the Coaches Poll and the AP. No offense to the coaches, but I can't imagine they have much of a grip on who a legitimate Top 10 should be and in what order. Some may have a grasp on it, but many probably don't care and are more concerned with game filming for the next week. The AP Poll has come a long way over the years, especially recently. It used to go solely off of record. More and more it seems that they are incorporating strength of schedule as a part of their decision process. If I'm on a committee, I'm probably using Sagarin to help me as a guide for the southern part of the state. So I'd be more than happy to defer to someone on the committee who is from that area. I could see breaking the state down into eight sectors and having a rep from each of those areas.
  19. I could see using Sagarin as a guide, but not the be all end all. I'm sure the IHSAA could form a committee with a group of volunteers who'd be more than happy to determine seeds. I think solely using the Sagarin will encourage some coaches, not all, to run up scores when they shouldn't.
  20. There was more to it than that. I want to say Mishawaka force a punt and a turnover on Snider's first two possessions. Once the offense got it together, the Cavemen would have had a better shot at stopping a freight train. Defensive adjustments were obviously a factor as well. The whole game can be seen on youtube.
  21. Throw the topic at hand out the window. The IHSAA will never abolish the sectional trophy, and I don't blame them. It was a good thought though.
  22. Dwenger's issues are a bit more complicated than running out of running backs. Kokomo already beat Leo earlier this season, so I can't imagine the Lions overlooking any of the forementioned teams.
  23. If Snider brings their A game.
  24. This is North Side's Super Bowl every season. I expect this to be closer than what some are saying. The chances of North winning are less than 5%, but they'll fight like hell. Snider can't sleep on this one.
