  1. Thanks for the response. I'm wondering why the "5A is weak" threads started when Cathedral left 5A. It wasn't weak when they were there? You just acknowledged that 5A was a gift to Cathedral, to which I would agree. But what about the other posters? Why is 5A all of a sudden weak? Westfield and Zionsville bumped up, I get that. Merrillville and Valpo bumped down. Snider and Cathedral will bounce back and forth. It's kind of a wash if you ask me. But no one made that claim when Cathedral was stockpiling their trophy case. One thing is for certain. Valpo earned their title last year. Why did the new 5A merit a 32 team class? That's simple. The largest school sat at 5000, while the smallest sat at 1500. That and the fact that the three largest schools shared almost all of the titles (enter Center Grove). Large enrollment is kind of a big deal when it comes to winning championships. I would agree that the 32 team classes should be 6A and 1A. That would put Snider, Valpo, Merrillville, East Central, Reitz, Roncalli, and New Pal in the same class. The three team sectional was a result of Dwenger getting an exception (something I know nothing about) during a year there's not suppose to be any movement.
  2. It'll never happen. The IHSAA is to bullheaded to accept another idea that isn't their own. They should be ashamed of themselves and embarrassed. No way should Tipp Valley be playing Chatard in the first round. East Noble vs New Haven in round one has turned Sectional 19 into a joke. Then the winner squared off against Leo. This is lunacy.
  3. Elaborate on that if you would.
  4. For the first time, I may have to agree with you on this. I've never seen a coach concede at the 11:00 mark of the 4th quarter only down two scores. That's exactly what he did when he went for it on 4th & 11 at his own 35. Notre Dame will stand by his side, as they should. But he's just a couple more critical errors away from being on the hot seat.
  5. That's valid. It's really hard to say until Crown Point plays someone outside the region. Personally, I think Penn was Valpo's wake up call in Week 1. Maybe the Vikings didn't have the right mindset as the defending state champs with 90% of their starters back. They appear to be playing better now. Crown Point seems to be really consistent this year, that's the mark of a good team, and maybe why they are ranked so high. But I can get on board with the Indy teams jumping up in the poll. They're more battle tested than anyone in the state.
  6. I figured that's where you're going with this, but there's no end to it. Do we rank Snider ahead of Ben Davis since they had a better win over Warren Central? You've been Penn's biggest critic, not sure why you're defending them as I question their rank. I hope I'm wrong as I like to see Penn do well. Indiana football is better when Penn is part of the conversation. They have a good win over Valpo, for sure. But the loss to Cathedral was pretty bad. It makes me wonder if Carroll/Penn 2023 will be a repeat of 2022. Again, nothing against the Kingsmen, just an opinion here. And for the record, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to see Penn beat Carroll this year.
  7. Lol, that's a hard one. I'll pass on that question.
  8. I remember that. Hell of an idea.
  9. It doesn't exist, at all? I'm leaning toward human nature on this one. There are 785 officials (presuming there are 157 game with each game having a crew of 5). I'm just not buying all 785 officials being "unbiased." "I may be wrong, but I doubt it." Charles Barlkley
  10. That could be true and that is a legit observation, but.....................HSE beat Noblesville by three touchdowns where Carroll played the Royals even with the difference being two pick-6's for touchdowns. Snider beat Carroll (very even game to be fair). Snider waxed WC who almost beat Ben Davis and Carmel. Where is the end to this? You just have to go by your gut and what you see on the field when forming an opinion poll. I've always been a fan of Penn doing well for the north, not the mention the respect the Carroll and Snider contingents have for their program. But outside of the Valpo win, some of the other scores make me wonder if they are a Top 15 team. Top 20 for sure.
  11. That was a really bad look for SAC football. Not sure what happened to Homestead a week after almost beating Carmel. I'm not ready to put Noblesville at #10, that would put them right there with two teams that beat them by three touchdowns. I'd rework 13-19 by moving all Indy teams up (painful for me to admit), and slide Penn and Reitz down to 18/19. Maybe knock Valpo down to 25 with the loss of their RB?
  12. Switch 2 & 3. CG seems a little more consistent than BD. Slide Crown Point behind Carroll. The Chargers are king of 6A North (north of Indy) until dethroned. Bump Noblesville and Lawrence North in front of Penn. Would you take the Kingsmen over the Millers in a bet?
  13. Scratching my head as to why this thread was started two weeks ago.
  14. Not sure what happened in the Leo game. I think we are discovering, not that we didn't know this long ago, that every team has a night or two where they are "off." I guess we'll see what happens in the EN/Leo rematch. I just know what I saw when East Noble played Snider. I saw a pretty darn good 4A football team that night. I don't know if this team is Top 5, but I do know that they are Top 10.
  15. No. Not even a little bit. Noblesville 41, Homestead 0 To be fair though, every team is bound to have an "off" night. If indeed that is what happened to Brownsburg.
  16. Maybe East Noble will get some props this week.
  17. East Noble #11? Lol, wake up.
  18. They have their struggles at this level. But you've got to commend them for going out there and participating.
  19. Refs 7, Snider 0. That call was bad x bad.
  20. It was pretty evident that Snider and Carroll had off weeks coming off of their big game. The red flag for Luers is their blowout losses to East Noble and New Haven. Red flag meaning that this isn't one of their state championship caliber years. I have a ton of respect for the Knights, one of the best programs in the state. But this isn't their year to claim SAC supremacy. They'd potentially get mercy ruled by both Snider and Carroll. No matter how you slice it, they aren't the best team in the SAC, not even close. Transitive Property: East Noble 45, Luers 7. Snider 45, East Noble 28.........was 42-14 at one point. No one is saying that Luers didn't earn the SAC title. They did what they had to do and got the job done. But to place them on the same level and Snider and Carroll is utterly absurd.
  21. I'm neither here nor there on the term. But here goes: Snider and Carroll are a lot better than they were two years ago. Bishop Luers not so much. Seeing what transpired in Weeks 1 & 2, I can only imagine how a showdown with Luers vs Snider or Carroll would go. At the end of the day, it's not the Knights fault the new system was made the way it was. Bottom line: If you want to call yourself SAC champs, you better run the table with no "off" weeks.
  22. How do you think Luers would do against Snider and Carroll this year?
  23. They'll get their shot once they are moved up to 2A. Until then, they are a 1A quality program.
  24. Three blowout games, they speak for themselves. Snider/Dwenger will be closer than people think. Snider has the coaching, but the Saints have grit. Dwenger as a program may not be at the top of their game, but playing football just comes naturally to those Catholic kids. Wayne/North could go either way. I'll take the Generals though. Their program just seems to be on better footing at the moment.
  25. What's stupid about giving Adams Central credit for being a very good team this year? You're feelings are hurt because you can't fathom the idea that this AC team could be competitive or even beat the good LCC teams of the past. I'm not going to retract on my opinion that this is an above average state championship caliber 1A program.
