Lol, this team has a long way to go to be mentioned among Snider's elite. The comparisons to the 04' team was really just about a good ground attack, a QB who can run, and a good defense. The mention of Snider's best teams was just conversation only. Does this team have that kind of potential? I don't see why not. But they'd have to run the table the rest of the way to have any chance of entering Top 5, or even Top 10 for that matter.

Actually, the Sagarin is pretty accurate the further into the season we go. Let's just say it's a little sketch after Week 1, but it's certainly worth more than "squat." It starts to make more sense after Weeks 2 & 3. It's too early to jump on the NE8 bandwagon. Right now there are a lot of good teams, but how good only time will tell. It's hard to gauge East Noble after beating a Luers team that's probably in their bottom 10% historically as a program. We'll have a better read on them after tonight's game against Snider. New Haven waxed the worst team in the SAC. Northrop is really bad. And we can't hardly judge Dwenger after playing, arguably, the best team in the state. I know Dwenger is getting a bad rap, but I know this program well enough to understand that you never underestimate them when they are playing within their weight class.

Snider was without their starting QB and it still took Carmel overtime to win that game. I think they could make a case for best of all time along with 92', 97', and 04'.

In April 2022, the IHSAA Executive Committee determined that the eight schools who earned at least one point during the 2021-22 school year to continue playing in a higher classification due to the Tournament Success Factor, would be reevaluated after the 2022-23 school year. Schools who failed to earn a point during the 2021-22 school year while playing in a higher class were returned to the next lower class for the next two years. This was to prevent schools from playing three consecutive years in a higher classification when their tournament results do not merit that placement. Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger’s football team was the only school that did not earn a point in 2022-23 and thus drops from Class 5A to their enrollment class of Class 4A which leaves only three teams in Sectional 12 for the 2023 State Tournament. Bishop Dwenger has been assigned to Sectional 19 which as a result created a domino effect causing Columbia City, Muncie Central, Connersville and Bedford North Lawrence to change sectionals.

Sectional 19 will be a dog fight. East Noble, Leo, New Haven, and Wayne could all be considered a favorite at this point. Dwenger could be right up there. Don't sleep on South Side. Not sure about Angola and Dekalb.

I think it'll take a few weeks for Warren's offensive skill guys to come together. I have Carroll winning the game for that reason. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Warren wins. They have the size and talent. I think most posters are thinking that if Snider beat Warren, then Carroll should to. Maybe Snider's just THAT good and maybe Carroll's not the team to beat in the SAC based off of a couple of years of prosperity. Can't draw too many conclusions from only Week 1. Who knows, if Homestead beats Noblesville, we might be calling the Spartan's the leading contender for the SAC title. Week 2 will tell us more.

I'll take a shot at it. LN by twice Temp's margin over NS. I really thought they had enough depth to beat Northridge last week without their two D1 guys. I was miserably wrong. Lawrence North big.

I still maintain that they were the best team in the state that year through Week 8 and possibly the best Snider team to ever take the field. Again, I don't know if this years teams is quite that level, but even mentioning them in the same sentence as the 2004 team is quite the compliment.

Ditto on seven of your picks and the margins. I've got Noblesville over Homestead by 7. I think they are prototypical for the HCC. I certainly wouldn't describe them as "lesser." The Millers showed progress in Coach Sharpe's third season. I'm betting on more improvement this year. One thing is for sure though, Homestead won't overlook this team like they did the last time they played. I'll take Carroll over Warren Central by 7. The difference in this game will be the level of play in the offensive skill positions. Warren Central will improve from last week, but not enough to slow down Jimmy Sullivan and company for the win. Don't count the Warriors out just yet. They are big and they are athletic. Now it's just a matter of putting it together. Eight more weeks to do that. East Noble over Snider by 7. This game eerily reminds me of 1993 when the Panthers played Homestead for the first time ever. They coasted into that game and wasn't ready for the truck that ran them over. This is their first meeting ever with East Noble. Snider's struggled against good passing teams in past. Upset special of the week.

Reminds me of 2004. Maybe not that good, but potential for sure.

These are the Warren Central starters. The guys on the ISC Sports Network alluded to these guys being heavily recruited, but I couldn't find anything. Nonetheless, massive offensive line for high school. Agree.........Carroll should be at 7. Switch Brownsburg and HSE. Round out the final three with Fishers, Penn, and Carmel. Valpo took an unjustified hit. Those 19 returning starters from last year are still there if I'm not mistaken. Snider, Valpo, and Merrillville are a toss-up.

Somebody from Indy should weigh in on this one. He definitely had some mediocre years at Ben Davis, but you still have to be a pretty good coach to win state twice even with a run on talent. I'm actually more impressed with what he did at Mount Vernon. Warren Central will be fine after a few games in my opinion. If the QB can improve on his short game accuracy and the receivers look the ball all the way in before they run up field, they could be dangerous come playoff time. They have something to build off of with those O and D lines.

Possible, but doubtful. Teams like Brownsburg, Cathedral, Center Grove, and HSE will have something to say about that. When was the last time a team from Indy was head and shoulders above everyone else?

My only source is an interview with Jason Garrett from Wane.com. He thinks his team is in 4A, so if they aren't, that's kind of a problem. Harrell's and Sagarin still show Dwenger as 5A. I've said it before, I'll say it again. To many "viewers" on this forum who don't provide any content. The admin's should make this a pay site with viewership restricted to members only and a minimum of one post per month. One of our regular "viewers" has the answer to this.

Both nursing injuries is all I heard. I'm guessing just a one or two week thing. Hoping they'll be back for Lawrence North, they'll certainly need them if they are going to get the W in this one.

The chances of the 4A champion coming out of south is probably 95% or better, but that doesn't mean that 4A north isn't interesting. There appears to be several good teams who'll fight it out for the right to contend at Lucas Oil. Right now it seems WIDE open. We'll always begin with Northwood, but no one can deny that Northridge looked pretty darn good coming into Fort Wayne and defeating North Side. The Legends were without two D1 commitments, but still, Northridge took them out by two touchdowns. East Noble obliterated Luers in their own back yard, yet still didn't garner one vote in the coaches poll. Columbia City, Hobart, New Prarie, Leo, Wayne, Dwenger, New Haven, Kokomo, & Mississinewa. I think 4A north will be fun to watch this year.
