Chances are, the coaches and players who go 8-1 are probably putting in more time, especially in the off-season, than the team that went 2-7. You normally get out of life what you put into it. I think it's offending to to pair the two best teams on one side and the two worst teams on the other. In my opinion, it's a form of enabling...........no one gets better from that.

IHSAA: Directly from the coaches....................seed the tournament, make the regular season relevant. The team that went 8-1 deserves to play another week more so than the team that went 2-7. The kids might even learn something worthwhile from this lesson. Imagine this................"it's ok honey, D's and F's are just fine. Three are committed to Georgia and Ohio State. Three are committed to Michigan and Notre Dame. I'm not saying an all-star team would beat the IMG, but I'd bet money they would come within 3 touchdowns. Remember when that team from Fort Wayne went down the the IMG 7 on 7 national tournament and won the whole thing? Rumor has it that those boys from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas thought it was funny that a team from Indiana was down there. They learned a humbling lesson. Good point, I can't debate that. I'll let blackandgold weigh in on that one.

Snider and North Side alone have four players with Power Five offers. I'm counting 20 players from Indiana going to Power Five schools according to 24/7.

That makes it even more unsportsmanlike if they threw the ball in the 3rd quarter. I could see on one had that you'd like to give your second stringer an opportunity to throw the ball in the state game, but damn. As a coach, I'm probably setting an example for the second stringer by telling him that were running out the clock. Call some QB runs if you want him to do more than just hand off the ball. It doesn't diminish my view of the great program that Ben Davis has built. But I could see how it might piss off a Penn fan.

The whole state of Indiana? I was thinking an all-star team from just Indy and Fort Wayne could compete with IMG. Fort Wayne has their fair share already committed to Power Five programs. I haven't dug deep on this, I just have a hard time thinking they would lose by 3 touchdowns or more.

Hard to debate any of that. Will IMG be promoting their brand when they come to Indy for the purpose of recruitment? I think we'd be naive to think otherwise. I think word has gotten out that certain areas of Indiana are more than just a basketball state.

By the way, my number in that game is down to 10. Make no mistake, Snider is planning on winning that football game. Ben Davis is being thrown into a no win situation. I think the Giants can chalk it up as a HUGE win if they can stay withing three touchdowns. They can leave with their heads held high if they lose by 63. I would say they could lose by 70 and still be considered contenders for the 6A title. The Warriors will feel like a cupcake game a week later when they play them.

Beating somebody might entail beating Center Grove, not the Dream Team of high school football (an all star team put together with kids from all over). It's not exactly "our community vs yours." This game screams mercy rule in the 3rd quarter. Credit to the Ben Davis coaches and administration for going all in though.

1A: What about Adams Central? They return 17 guys from a team that played Lutheran pretty tough at state last year. 5A: It's hard to ignore Valpo's 19 returning starters, therefore making them the front runner. But Snider and North are both hungry. Three players from those teams have committed to Notre Dame, Purdue, and Air Force. Two others have offers from Iowa and Indiana. Several more being recruited by DII, DIII, and NAIA. Northern 5A will be a battle in my opinion.

I guess you could argue that the team is getting rest and the second stringers are getting valuable reps. Or the first stringers could work on some of their weaker areas when up 3 or 4 touchdowns. There's something to be said for having a healthy team come playoff time versus one that has been beaten up by playing monster programs. I agree that to win the trophy in 6A, you need to see those Indy teams sometime during the regular season. Carroll and Homestead did the right thing. As much as we fans would like to see Snider rumble with the Indy big dogs, I'm not sure it does much for them at the 5A level. Whereas the Snider program felt that Warsaw and East Noble provide them with challenging contests without getting beat up too badly, I'd like to see more of Penn, Lafayette Jeff, Noblesville, Fishers, Westfield, or HSE. I might feel differently if Snider were a staple in 6A, but at most, they look to bounce back and forth every few years. Columbus East reminds me a lot of Snider just based on what I've seen on paper. They've proven they can have a very good program by playing a schedule that is sub par and make it to the state finals. But I think it's a benefit to a team if the team they are playing for the championship isn't necessarily the best team they played all season. In 5A, playing an SAC schedule is no longer an issue for Snider. Chances are, in the SAC's current state of affairs, Valpo, Merrillville, or Whiteland aren't any better than Carroll or North Side. It's when the Panthers jump up the 6A that they'll have issues.............unless Carroll, Homestead, and North Side continue to improve as programs, therefore not feeling like they hit a brick wall when they get to Indy. It's complicated, I can see both sides of the coin. I could go on and on about the teams from Indy that Snider's beaten in the past after playing an SAC only schedule.

You hit the nail on the head............"after a few years." The MIC didn't make the NHC overnight. It was years in the making.

Carroll and Homestead have nothing to lose by taking on the likes of HSE, Warren Central, Carmel, and Noblesville. The SAC elevated Carroll's level of play drastically. Homestead maybe slightly. As 6A programs, Snider can no longer be the bar for where those two teams stand. It's good for them so see 6A Indy caliber football first hand if they want to make noise in the tournament. Personally, I like the idea. But there are others who would argue that Carroll did just fine last year playing only SAC teams, and Snider's been to the big school championship 6 times.

Sherwood Haydock made a state contender out of both Harding and Woodlan. The expectation is that he makes some noise in his respective class. No one is expecting him to win an SAC title.

I think Notre Dame knows that it's just a matter of time before they join a conference. They just want to be the last domino to fall and force a bidding war between the SEC and the Big Ten.

Remember when every Big Ten member was from a state that bordered a Great Lake (except Iowa)? I think for a lot of fans, there is something to be said for "our area vs yours." Fort Wayne vs Indianapolis, Indianapolis vs Cincinnati, East vs West, North vs South, Big Ten vs SEC. What incentive does a fan from Indiana have to root for Oregon (B10) vs Tennessee (SEC)? Will a fan from the Big Ten remain loyal to the Big Ten in rooting for USC over Kentucky? I think when it comes down to it, I'll have a hard time cheering for west coast teams over the bible belt teams. Just one fan's perspective.

Someone knows the answer to this. Unfortunately there are over 10,000 coaches, parents, and fans who use read this forum, but only 1% actually post on here.

Adams Central's only roadblock this year will be Blackhawk Christian. Just kidding. With 17 starters returning, is it safe to say that they are the frontrunner to win state? With that many guys returning, my money might be on the Flying Jets to take out Indy Lutheran.

So Sectional 12 is down to three teams? Or did they bump someone from 4a up?

Not sure wane.com is a valid source for anything to be honest. Why is the IHSAA making an exception for just one team? What does that do to sectional assignments?

The 5A north is in pretty good shape with Valpo, Snider, and Merrillville. It's a shame North Side missed 4A by eight students. North Side would give 4A North a pulse. With a bit of luck, Dwenger will be back to being Dwenger by the time they bump back down to 4A.
