  1. Lol, agree with Hammond Morton. I could make a case for Penn though.
  2. An unsuccessful program thumps their chest after pounding an opponent with less resources than they do chanting "we're the best!"
  3. Here's the way I look at it. Cathedral isn't going to have their "best year ever" every year and Penn isn't going to be "down" every year. I could be wrong. Maybe the new trend is that Cathedral is one of the best two teams in the state and that Penn will be lousy every year. I doubt that though.
  4. There were a few blown calls that affected the outcome. Although I was rooting for the Bengals, they were given a 7 point gift when the ref didn't see the facemask that launched the Rams DB to the ground.
  5. Thanks. You would be correct then. Chances are they didn't play each other.
  6. Congrats to Jessie Bates. Although he was on the losing side, he delivered a performance of a champion.
  7. I thought they both graduated in 2015. I believe Snider was 5a in 2013 and 2014, which is why they didn't play one another.
  8. You just assumed that if 25% are white, then 75% are black. In terms of numbers, your mistake was colossal. You pretty much discredited how 17% of NFL football players want to be identified.
  9. I think Deion has an agenda at Jackson State. They seem to be a good fit for some reason. The man's ego is pretty off the charts......in a likable kind of way. Imagine what it would do for his ego if he turned Jackson State into a Top 10 program? Is his financial situation in order enough for him to turn 5m down from Florida State to continue at Jackson State for half a million? We all know money is pretty important to the man. I guess we'll see what happens. It's hard to discount Leonard's accomplishments at Wisconsin. The million dollar question becomes whether or not that success translates to success at the head coaching position. We see a lot of well paid coordinators take on a head coaching position and fail miserably. If I was a coordinator, I would want to be a guy like Dick Lebeua. I'm well paid and my head coach doesn't challenge me because I'm so good at what I do. And less stress. Same with Derek Mason. If I'm making 1.1 million as a coordinator, I'm probably leaving well enough alone. I like Alex Grinch. Unless he's in some kind of a comfort zone, I think he'll be leading a big time program sooner than later.
  10. Good point about Whittingham. I think I said in a previous post that 20 coaches could do with Saban's talent as he does. Whittingham certainly is on the list. His teams ranked in the Top 25 in five of the last eight seasons despite not having at Top 25 recruiting class........at least I don't think they do, I'd have to research it. How would he do in Ryan Day's position with OSU's talent? Scary thought actually. Hell, this guy could be Top 5. David Shaw? Maybe Top 30. I'm sure I could come up with 25 other coaches that I'd rather lead my program. Actually, if you take character into account, I could probably only come up with 10 or 15. He hasn't done enough in recent seasons to qualify as a Top 20 coach in my opinion.
  11. I absolutely agree. How would Harbaugh or Kelly do if they had the amount of 5-star guys that Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and even Georgia have? I do like the Top 10 though, but that order could be juggled around given all coaches are on a level playing field.
  12. Claiming that he's not a good coach is just being controversial for the sake of controversy. No intelligent person would really think that.
  13. I've always had a ton of respect for Michigan and their value of the student athlete. Wherever Harbaugh ranks, it's pretty comical that that someone can claim that he's not one of the ten best college coaches in America.
  14. Good Lord. As Temp would say, "lots to unpack here." People do reserve the right to equal opportunity, that's what the Rooney Rule is for. But owners reserve the right to hire who they think gives their team the best opportunity to win games. You're living the seventies and watching too much ABC, NBC, CBS, & CNN. NFL owners care more about wins than they do hiring someone who looks like them. Last I checked, toting a football and catching a pass doesn't qualify you as a head coaching position. Stop citing percentages as a reason to hire someone based on their skin color. Comparing the NHL is a poor example. Black people, by and large, could care less about hockey. With regard to football, 70% of high school football players are white compared to 20% black. At the college level, 37% are white compared to 50% black. Let's not pretend that being a player at the NFL level somehow qualifies you to be a head coach. Mike Leach and Lou Holtz are good case in points. If you add all three levels together, the number of white people engaged in the sport is much larger than that of black people. Blackball Colin Kaepernick? That was well deserved. He hates America, so why should an American organization pay him millions of dollars to throw a football. This guy sat and pouted on the bench when the anthem was playing because he was upset that he wasn't starting that game. When asked about, he came up with this story about how he sat for injustice in America. What was he going to say?......."I pouted like a baby because I lost the starting position.?" He cried like a baby and somehow earned himself the poster boy of injustice in America. Sick.
  15. I will say this about the Boilers. And I don't hate on Purdue one iota, I respect them as a great university that represents Western Indiana. But their fans are a bitter bunch. It's that inferiority complex. No championships in basketball compared to IU's five, and nothing in football compared to ND's eleven. That pretty much sums it up. Notre Dame got waxed. So were basing this poll on one game? Since when do we do that?
  16. Lincoln Riley and Jim Harbaugh ahead of Brian Kelly? I like Harbaugh, but let's be serious here. Anyone seen what Kelly did with a bunch of smart kids lately? I know Kelly has some character flaws, but c'mon. Lincoln Riley ahead of Kelly? Who is this comedian?
  17. People of color and black are two different things. In the United States, people of color include African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Pacific Islander Americans, multiracial Americans, and some Latino Americans, though members of these communities may prefer to view themselves through their cultural identities rather than color-related terminology. I maintain, 58% black.
  18. A copy and paste from last July. Michigan came in at #12, but 2021 changes the score a little. Probably enough to make them a Top 10 program. Points given for qualification of College Football Playoff and where teams stood in the final AP Poll. Any surprises or head scratchers? I was surprised Michigan came in at #12.............two Top 10 finishes in the last 5 years. 1. Clemson 125 2. Alabama 113 3. Ohio State 100 4. Oklahoma 94 5. Georgia 68 6. Notre Dame 55 7. Penn State 47 8. Washington 43 9. LSU 42 Wisconsin 42 Next up: Florida, Michigan & Auburn Best of the rest: Texas A&M Consideration: Oregon & Baylor
  19. Not sure I'd label Concordia as downtrodden since they recently won a state championship and almost beat one of Indy's best in 2020. Wayne has been up and down for four decades. Look for them to uptrend with Haydock at the helm. North Side wasted Snider in 2020.........Snider wasted Concordia.........Concordia almost beat Chatard. In other words, downtrodden really isn't the word for North Side either. The Legends (almost said Redskins) are up and down like a yoyo, but most years are good enough to give the big dogs all they can handle. Anyway, good debate on this topic between you and HHF. Both bring good points to the table.
  20. It's a shame IU didn't make a push for Jessie Bates. He took the only Power Five offer given to him and ended up at Wake Forest. Now he is ranked as the 5th best defensive back in the NFL and playing for a Super Bowl ring. . I'm with DT on this one. More focus on the State of Indiana.
  21. Don't get me started on US 30. It's bad enough that Fort Wayne is the largest city in America without an urban expressway system. INDOT for whatever reason places no priority on an interstate between Columbus, Fort Wayne and Chicago. That's a head scratcher that I'll never be able to figure out. The state of Indiana has a goal to increase population in Northeast Indiana, so what the hell are they waiting for? Fort Wayne is the fastest growing metro in the great lake region without any help from INDOT. Imagine if INDOT jumped on board.
  22. Not sure how there can be a better barometer for success than that.
