Carroll 2024 On the road vs Dwenger, Homestead, North Side, and Center Grove............that's not very forgiving. At least they get to host Snider and Hamilton Southeastern.

I think the biggest thing they have in common is their support for multi-sport athletes................year round training.

Not even years down the road in my opinion. The SAC is on solid ground, those teams are going nowhere. Penn is the biggest winner in this scenario.

I still like DT's proposal: A northern super conference. Penn, Snider, Homestead, Carroll, Merrillville, Valpo, Dwenger, & Crown Point. Two non-conference games.....probably rest games since that schedule would be brutal. Side note: The SAC's a pretty solid conference as it stands with the move to two divisions, so the above scenario is a pipe dream.

Doesn't qualify, but worth noting: Russ Isaacs won football in 1992 as one of the smaller schools in the largest division and had the highest winning percentage among all active coaches during his reign. His wrestling teams went 84-6-1 over and 8 year period. Those are some pretty sick numbers.

I could see the reasoning (not that I agree) if you're a 5a school, but certainly not 6a. All 5a & 6a high caliber programs should want to play Center Grove.

Unfamiliar with the MAC. I just looked them up. Looks like a bunch of small schools to me.

Good point, I did open the door to the outside of Toledo. I'm not sure what what Toledo has to offer other than being a big market in a state where the overall quality of football probably exceeds Indiana. Back in 2012 Toledo Whitmer beat the Jaylon Smith state champion Luers team 20-3. Snider only beat Luers 10-7 that same year before representing the north in 5a when it was still the biggest division. Columbus Harley wasted the Knights 40-7 that same year also. When little Coldwater came into Fort Wayne about a decade ago, they beat Elmhurst with just as much ease as the SAC's bigger schools did. I just think the bar is a little higher when you cross the border. Something tells me that Toledo is on the same level as the SAC or higher, without even doing the research. Hockey is big in Fort Wayne and Toledo, it's not uncommon to draw 8000 fans at either venue. It's vicious and the fans travel well. I think that could carry over to the high school football level.

Fort Wayne vs Toledo Downtowns are separated by an hour and a half. The Komets vs Walleye is vicious and the fans travel well. Fort Wayne and Toledo need to schedule some football games. I like that the SAC has dug into the Indy market as Week 1 this fall looks to be very entertaining. Week 2 in my opinion should be all about Toledo. Indy has regular hookups with Cincinnati and Louisville, Fort Wayne needs to do the same with Toledo. Furthermore, Luers needs to hook up with Coldwater, OH. Coldwater's impression of Fort Wayne can't be that good after obliterating Elmhurst by halftime several years back. Although the Miners prospects vs the team from Akron doesn't look to promising, it did inspire me to create this post.

Or not. Some coaches will shy away from Center Grove because they don't believe there is much benefit from losing by 3+ touchdowns. I personally don't believe in that. Every program should know what the benchmark is, otherwise, how will you attain it?

I remember when Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern were there. That's good, the south side of Indy needs representation.

Wondering what puts Dwenger and Snider over Universities of Homestead and Carroll ? It appears that they may be giving credits for championships going back decades. A more accurate measurement would be what has transpired in the last ten years.

Lol, that's for damn sure. Freeman just needs to convince Buchner that he'll be more than just a backup quarterback. They could bring him in the game several times for different situations. The guy is dangerous with his legs. Degree from Notre Dame. Undoubtedly the starting QB next season. But there is a risk element with Buchner for the Alabama's of the world who thinks he could be their savior. His biggest issue is that he's injury prone. He can also be erratic with his passing game. But there's a world of potential with the right guidance. Again, it's a sick game of business. I'll take the high school game over college and pro any day.

It's a tough business. Winning is the name of the game, especially when you're paid millions to do so. I don't think any coach really want's to say, "hey guys, thanks for your commitment to the program and all the hard work you've put in, but we're bringing in someone from the outside to help improve our team." But they do it anyway to put wins on the board. I mean, you can't hardly blame them.............unless you place a higher value on integrity than you do salary. Dabo Swinney gets it. Good luck to Buchner, he deserves to play somewhere.

Which is one of the reasons I advocated for the SAC to schedule non conference opponents. Snider vs Warren Central will bring a MUCH bigger gate than Snider vs South Side. Fans get bored mercy ruling same opponents year in and year out. Looking at Penn's schedule, I'd agree with your assessment of the attendance. Mishawaka will garner some interest, but the other three home games might as well be watched on the internet, or tune into the Big Ten's Friday night game (which is a total punch in the gut to high school football). Carroll (Fort Wayne): They host Warren Central, Bishop Dwenger, Homestead, Wayne, and North Side. Now that's a home schedule if I ever saw one.

Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Hartman will have three games to warmup and finetune the offense. If this was a Week 1 game in South Bend, I'm probably taking Ohio State. Week 4 makes a difference. I'm picking the Irish in this one.

Hartman didn't come here from Wake Forest to sit on the bench. The coaching staff knows that. I agree that there never was any kind of a battle. I do hope Buchner sticks around. He should get his chance next year.

Not sure how Buchner can win the quarterback battle after his team lost 24-0. Sure the offensive line blocking was better for the Gold team giving Hartman more time to throw, but damn. This battle is over.

Penn's record over five years is 32-22 since wasting Carmel in 2017. Time for a change? What has this average level of play done to attendance? Do the Kingsmen still pack the house?
