  1. It's one thing if Kelly took LSU's offer over his 4 million/yr at Notre Dame. But if he was up there in the 7-9 range, I find this hard to stomach. He had a good chance to get that statue within the next three years. With the recruits he has coming in and Tyler Buchner waiting his turn, I feel that a national title was likely either in '22 or '23. That video pretty much eliminates him as a candidate.
  2. I think Kelly is arguably the best coach in college football. I mean, look what he's done with a bunch of smart kids! I think his biggest enemy is complacency with a contract like this. But I really don't think he'll fall down that road. His desire to be a national champion coach is really high.
  3. If Notre Dame hires Fickell, the residents for Cincinnati will call for a civil war against South Bend. Kelly, Freeman, now Fickell?
  4. Notre Dame was late to that party. Meyer already made up his mind to go to Florida.
  5. It will take Brian Kelly three years to rebuild LSU. He has the talent at Notre Dame to win next year. Maybe we'll hire Urban Meyer and win the championship in Brian Kelly's first year out.
  6. Agree, the '03 team was pretty solid until they hit semi-state. That was a long drive up to Penn for that game to be over after the first quarter. LCJ Martin is the other running back you were thinking of, he was also a sophomore in '03. They graduated the same year and are ranked 3rd and 6th all time rushing. yards. They are the only two RB's to finish their careers with over nine yards per carry. The offensive line was massive. Justin Wynn went on to play at Michigan. I believe they moved him to defensive back when he got there. One lineman went to Ball State. Another was being recruited by Michigan before he got himself into trouble.
  7. Under the leadership of Chris Geesman, Penn's run of five state titles definitely puts them up there with the best programs of all time. I'm sure one or more of those teams could be added to the "best of all time" conversation. The Snider team that you speak of was '04. Snider's D1 running back sitting out with an ankle injury coupled with a couple of uncharacteristic unforced errors aided Warren Central's 12pt win for the state title. Before Lewis's ankle injury, that was probably Sniders best team of all time.
  8. Best coach in the game? That's arguable. He definitely has the best players. Which makes it look like he's the best in the game. They won't beat Georgia, so we won't have to worry about him having a month to prepare. The Big 12's mediocre play has been an epidemic for years. Disclosure: Normally when I have a strong opinion about something and I make it public, it comes back to burn me. That being said, Alabama's chances of beating Georgia just went up to 55%.
  9. Would Baylor and Oklahoma be Top 15 if they were in the SEC or the Big Ten? Again, we're talking about the Big 12 here. Cincinnati is every bit as good as the Big 12's top 3, maybe better.
  10. Took their foot off the gas? Notre Dame made adjustments :). Wonders why Bama took their foot off the gas against Notre Dame in the playoffs but not the rest of their opponents whom they scored more than 31 against. It's the same thing every year with the Big 12. Remember when everyone was raving about Iowa State two years ago? Same thing is happening now with Oklahoma State. You can't deny that Alabama just doesn't look like typical Alabama this year. Hit me up in a private message. I'll take Georgia by 8+. I'm not dismissing Alabama, but the chances of them beating Georgia is about 5% in my opinion.
  11. Agree. Things just really get complicated after Georgia and Michigan...........IF Michigan beats Iowa. Big 12. Not impressed in the slightest.
  12. Notre Dame came closer than Ohio State last year against Alabama. And Notre Dame held Bama to their lowest scoring output of the season. But the Notre Dame bashing continues? If Georgia beats Alabama in OT, the Tide should be out. The committee shouldn't force the Bulldogs into a rematch. Alabama had their shot. Also, Alabama's lucky win against Auburn last night and their close win over Florida should be taken into consideration.
  13. Georgia is in, Alabama is out. Michigan beats Iowa...........in Cincinnati beats Houston............in Notre Dame vs Oklahoma State. That debate will be bigger than Notre Dame/Texas A&M last year. I agree with Temptation. If Oklahoma State beats Baylor while the Irish are "sitting on their ass," then we have one hell of a debate on our hands. Notre Dame's chances sit at 50% right now. One thing we need to consider though.............how good is the Big 12? Everyone was big on Iowa State two years ago until Notre Dame clobbered them in the bowl game. "Much more?" C'mon man.
  14. Crap shoot meaning the overall quality of teams. But I agree and have been preaching it for the last week, two losses and you're out. Ohio State is a good example. I think anyone in their right mind would bet on Ohio State over Oklahoma State if there were money on the line. But I'd rather see Oklahoma State get their shot. The Buckeyes, no matter how good they are, lost twice. They blew their chance to be called national champions. Alabama is next. Then were looking at a playoff minus the Big Three. Pretty awesome if you ask me.
  15. Ben Davis of the 90's. Lawrence Central was pretty good in 2012. Obviously Warren Central in the 2000's. Snider 2004 with a healthy Quale Lewis was pretty solid.
  16. Still not sold on the Big 12. After Georgia, the next seven are a crap shoot. I guess OSU's resume is as good as any for the #4 spot...........but so is Notre Dame's. No one this year did to Georgia Tech what ND did.........not even Georgia.
  17. I'm struggling with this one, someone help me out. I've seen more than a handful of teams that could rumble with, or beat this year's CG team over the years. More specifically, teams of the 90's and 2000's.
  18. Lol, again, no props for the offensive lineman. According to 247, Kiyaunta Goodwin is your Mr. Football. No one has more offers than that kid.
  19. I wouldn't mind seeing him go to Michigan if he passes up Indiana or Purdue. Best wishes to Michigan recruiting until 2029, then I hope they start failing miserably 🙂
  20. My vote goes to Kiyaunta Goodwin, Charlestown. Let's give the award to an offensive lineman for a change. We tend to forget that these big guys open up holes for running backs and allow quarterbacks time throw the ball. Indiana's only 5-star recruit has offers from...............well, everybody. Except Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Stanford.
  21. Just looked up this young man's resume. Offers from Purdue, Indiana, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Four star by 247. Kudos to him and leading his team to the state title. I have no dog in the fight, but I imagine he's as qualified as any for the Mr. Football award.
  22. While we're on the topic of being honest.................six of the last seven have been from the Indy area. Before that it doesn't seem to be out of balance. I'm not disputing your claim, just doing a bit of research here.
  23. Recreated in the other room. Admins please delete.
  24. Who are the best teams in the country at this point in the season? Here's what my eyes are telling me: 1. Georgia - no one can dispute this. 2. Michigan - One blemish in arguably the strongest conference in the country. And they were up two touchdowns on the road that game against a team that was ranked #7 at the time. 3. Ohio State - Leading MSU 49-0 at halftime was an eye opener. They lost yesterday in Ann Arbor..........so what. I'm not sure Georgia would have won in Ann Arbor yesterday. 4a Cincinnati - They've looked VERY good at times, but struggled against some really bad teams. If they beat Houston by two scores, I'll be convinced that they are the one of the top four teams in the country. 4b Notre Dame - Quarterback play, offensive line play, and defense is vastly improved since their loss to Cincinnati. The Irish had GT down 45-0 at the half just one week ago. It took Georgia all four quarters to do that against the Yellowjackets. Something to think about. 4c Oklahoma State - Still not completely sold on this team. They had some very close calls against some sub par teams. But they've also had some impressive wins..............or did they? They play in the Big 12. 4d Alabama - I wish Auburn would have just put them out of their misery yesterday. But Alabama found a way to score their only touchdown on a 98 yard drive with 1:45 to play. That luck runs out next week after they lose by multiple scores and the Bulldogs send them packing out of any playoff talk.
