  1. As I said in an earlier post. Ten teams could make the claim.
  2. Hopefully Notre Dame get's their chance in Round 1. Those kids look pretty fired up at the prospect of playing for Freeman. I'm sure their respect for Rees went up a notch as well. That being said, I won't bet against Georgia this year.
  3. Alabama was the only SEC program to qualify as Notre Dame's whipping boy. Kelly played Georgia twice and both games went right down to the wire. Kelly had a recent win against LSU in a bowl game. That's just going off the top of my head. I don't have time to put in the research right now. I'm not sure Georgia has done anything more than Notre Dame since Kelly has been head coach. Make a case for the Bulldogs being "living proof."
  4. I understand full well how good of a coach Brian Kelly is. He will get his championship at LSU. But the chance of Notre Dame getting one first in the next three years is higher than LSU. BK is a good coach. However, people have been pointing at his character flaws for 12 years now. I turned a blind eye to them as he continued to put winning football teams on the field. I'm now seeing those flaws myself. A guy like Brian Kelly leaving Notre Dame doesn't prove that Notre Dame isn't one of the Top 5 jobs in the country. Try another factor, like recruiting restrictions. Count Penn State out until they hire a new head coach.
  5. How is Alabama not on this list? Notre Dame's facilities rival any program. Notre Dame's history/tradition exceeds anyone's. Notre Dame's recruiting base spans 50 states. And..............it's Notre Dame. Top 5 program if you ask me............I'm not afraid of being a homer. One could argue that Notre Dames limitations on recruiting bumps them out of the Top 5, I don't deny that. You've gotten the best of me on the last few. I'll win this one. Keep the receipt 🙂
  6. Hit me up with a personal message. I'll take the over and give you 5:1 odds.
  7. Over. He'll do well. The better question is whether or not he gets a national title. I say yes. I just don't know if it's going to be 3, 5, or 7 years. Make no mistake, this man can coach football. He's good at hiring the right people to work within his system.
  8. Lol, I have little faith in that. From what I understand, Michigan has a higher academic standard than most. Not in the same category as Notre Dame, Stanford, and Northwestern. But definitely in the next tier.
  9. I don't think Brian Kelly alone determines whether Notre Dame or LSU is the better job. Right now in Kelly's life, he determined that it's the better job for him. Earlier today on ESPN, Stephen Austin was debating why he thought LSU is a better job than Notre Dame "by a mile." He wasn't talking about why it was a better job for Brian Kelly. He was just flat out calling LSU the better job. I think the best job means something different to different people. There are probably ten programs that could make the claim.
  10. Stephen A. Smith went on a rant today about why LSU is a better job than Notre Dame. He kept citing the ability to recruit kids in SEC country. He must not be keeping up on current events, because Notre Dame recruits all over the country. What I found comical is that not once did he mention the limitations Notre Dame has when it comes to recruiting because of their academic standard. Now I ask this question. What makes a program a good coaching job? 1. Ability to win a national championship? Advantage LSU. No restrictions on recruiting. Can't read or write? No problem. 2. A school that can pay you the most money? Advantage LSU? Or is Notre Dame just unwilling to pay that kind of money. I have a hard time believing the money isn't there. 3. Ability to coach kids who actually want to get a degree? Advantage Notre Dame. 4. Ability to be showcased every week from California to New York and everywhere between? Advantage Notre Dame. I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks.
  11. I like the hire. A risk? Absolutely. Ryan Day seems to be doing just fine. Notre Dame has good football team. It sounds like they'll work hard for him............same can be said for the existing staff surrounding him. The recruits, at a level ND hasn't seen in a long time, will keep their commitments. All that being said, ND is poised to continue their success for at least a couple more years. This is better than Freeman going to LSU, recruits decommitting, and players entering the transfer portal. Not to mention a f--- y-- to LSU and Brian Kelly. You don't get Freeman, he's staying. Now all Freeman has to do is get his first championship before Kelly does. And you better believe everyone still on board will do everything to make that happen.
  12. Is that a serious question?
  13. Sources are saying Marcus Freeman will be the next head coach. Tommy Rees is deciding between ND and LSU.
  14. They both want to be the head coach of Notre Dame, otherwise they would already be gone.
  15. I couldn't have said that better myself. Freeman is the key to keeping everything ND built in order. Is it a risk hiring Freeman with no head coaching experience? Sure, but Ryan Day is proof that sometimes the reward is worth that risk. Tommy Reese is 29 years old, I can't see hiring him. Although Freeman is only 35, he has 6 years experience over Tommy Reese. His defense is probably better than Tommy's offense. And it's well known that his recruiting is up there with the best in the country. In my opinion, it's Freeman, Fickell or bust.
  16. Peter King said it best. "Any right thinking person would shrug their shoulders at something like this. It's just plain wrong. Full stop." One university shouldn't be allowed to make an offer to a coach who is in the middle or end of a season. It's morally gross. But they do it because the NCAA allows it, and money is more important than morals. Notre Dame did it to Cincinnati twelve years ago and they may even do it again this year. It needs to come to a head. A player can't transfer and play at another school during the middle of the season, so why should the head coach. It's a head scratcher. After all these players at Notre Dame have gone through with their head coach........recruitment, development, games, life, ect., they shouldn't have to find out on social media that their head coach jumped ship one week before the announcement of the playoffs. Brian Kelly has character flaws, plain and simple.
  17. Beat another Big 12 cupcake is what Oklahoma State did. You're not stupid Temp..............Notre Dame passes the eye test and you know it.
  18. Georgia beats Alabama Houston beats Cincinnati Notre Dame hires Luke Fickell Notre Dame beats Georgia Michigan beats Oklahoma State Notre Dame beats Michigan Does Fickell get a statue?
  19. Forgot about that one! But honestly, I don't think anyone from Cincy cared. They probably thought it was pretty cool that one of their high school coaches moved on to the level of Notre Dame. Also of note. None of the other coaches left Notre Dame for another program. Another reason Kelly won't be revered as the others have.
  20. Some fans, including yourself may never forget him for that. Other fans will forget all about him after Fickell or Freeman get that championship that they haven't had in 34 years. If I may, let's edit your statement just a little. "He will take his place just underneath Rockne, Leahy, Parseghian, and Holtz."
  21. Agree with this post with the exception of "He will take his place alongside Rockne, Leahy, Parseghian, and Holtz." No national championship, no statue. If another coach comes in and wins with all this talent that Kelly left here, then Kelly will long be forgotten as the new coach's statue is put in place. Lets be honest here, with what Notre Dame has and the recruits coming in, the Irish have a VERY strong chance of becoming national champs either next year or the after..........as long as they don't get hit hard with decommits and transfers. Kelly knows he had a better chance of winning a title with ND over the next three years than he does with LSU. He just couldn't turn down the money they threw at him.
  22. Does that tell us that they have their sights on Fickell?
