  1. Clearly meant for this to go to Next Level.
  2. Who are the best teams in the country at this point in the season? Here's what my eyes are telling me: 1. Georgia - no one can dispute this. 2. Michigan - One blemish in arguably the strongest conference in the country. And they were up two touchdowns on the road that game against a team that was ranked #7 at the time. 3. Ohio State - Leading MSU 49-0 at halftime was an eye opener. They lost yesterday in Ann Arbor..........so what. I'm not sure Georgia would have won in Ann Arbor yesterday. 4a Cincinnati - They've looked VERY good at times, but struggled against some really bad teams. If they beat Houston by two scores, I'll be convinced that they are the one of the top four teams in the country. 4b Notre Dame - Quarterback play, offensive line play, and defense is vastly improved since their loss to Cincinnati. The Irish had GT down 45-0 at the half just one week ago. It took Georgia all four quarters to do that against the Yellowjackets. Something to think about. 4c Oklahoma State - Still not completely sold on this team. They had some very close calls against some sub par teams. But they've also had some impressive wins..............or did they? They play in the Big 12. 4d Alabama - I wish Auburn would have just put them out of their misery yesterday. But Alabama found a way to score their only touchdown on a 98 yard drive with 1:45 to play. That luck runs out next week after they lose by multiple scores and the Bulldogs send them packing out of any playoff talk.
  3. Not playing well because they haven't seen a team this good in the tournament yet?
  4. Didn't turn the game on until the second quarter. All I saw was a 38-9 blowout. Scrolling through this thread was more entertaining than the game itself. I can't wait to follow the 5a thread. Maybe I'll turn the game on for background noise.
  5. I shot myself in the foot a little when I suggested 3 times enrollment instead of 2.5 times enrollment. Only four teams have three times the enrollment of New Pal.............Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central, and North Central. In 2018 & 1019, the Dragons wasted Center Grove by a three plus touchdowns. During that time period, the Trojans went 5-7 vs the four largest schools in the state. In 2018, Warren Central beat Center Grove by a wider margin, 12 pts, than anyone not named New Palestine. New Pal beat them 23 pts. In 2019, Warren Central again defeated Center Grove by a larger margin than anyone but New Pal. Warren Central beat them by 7, whereas New Pal beat them by 19. Forget about the seven programs that are 2.5 New Pal's enrollment, it's a no contest during those years. You bring some good stuff to the table Temp, but even you can't debate this one. Case closed. Which just makes Pioneer's case stronger.
  6. Apparently they didn't. But for a few years, it was widely accepted that they were better than programs 3-4 times their enrollment. Six times their enrollment, good catch.
  7. I have no issues with Center Grove being on the list. They're on a pretty good run despite being half the size of the largest school in their class and 700 students shy of eight other schools. How about New Pal and what they've done sitting at 1175? That's right up their with Pioneer in my opinion. One thing the Dragons have done that Pioneer hasn't though, is beat opponents 3-4 times their enrollment.
  8. I'll throw Pioneer out there. Possibly the best program, pound for pound, in the state of Indiana. Only 288 students.
  9. Because it doesn't affect Dwenger as much as it does Snider, Homestead, and Carroll. Dwenger will drop back down to 4a and get their state title.
  10. If they do, then my image of them is blown. I don't think Oklahoma is a Top Ten team.
  11. Not really. I just wanted to give this kid props for what he's done on the field. Don't really want to speculate on the other stuff.
  12. I wouldn't hesitate to take ND over Cincy if they played again. I think they are both very good teams. The six best teams in the country are cut and dry in my opinion. Oklahoma State could change my mind in the coming weeks.
  13. Something tells me it has nothing to do with grades. Not saying your wrong.
  14. No offers that I know of for this young man. What am I missing here? He's big, quick on his feet, and runs over and through defenders. He lacks the break away speed, but he's a powerful runner and seems to break a lot of tackles. If a D1 school doesn't pick him up, Indiana State, St. Francis, or a Marian type program will end up with a gem. https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/tyrese-brown/s1McqaYdEeiAxKkkK9HIDg/videos.htm?videoid=15f8b574-84ea-421c-a1ce-96915fe6891f
  15. It's almost comical how much "The Bear" doesn't like Notre Dame. There was a good point made about ND's strength of schedule compared to other teams in the Top Ten. And The Bear would never dare mention that ND was still trying to find it's identity at the QB position when they played Cincinnati. Things will work itself out over the next couple of weeks. It's going to be fun to watch. I feel like the committee has done a real good job up to this point. I have no complaints with the rankings. Everyone keeps talking about whether or not Alabama makes the playoffs as a two loss team if they play Georgia close. What about Ohio State? What if they lose to Michigan close in a raucous environment at the Big House? I find it interesting that no one is talking about that. I still don't think a two loss team should make the playoffs. Like I said in an earlier thread, if you lose twice in one season, you're not a national champion. I'd rather see a one loss Oklahoma State get a crack at Georgia rather than a two loss Alabama team.
  16. A minor downturn could put them back in 5a. But I agree, they can be as good as they want to be. And kudos to the coaching staff for putting a team like that together. It's just nice to hear some of the Cathedral faithful admit to having some advantages over their public school counterparts. The "were a small school" talk makes me want to vomit.
  17. My stance has changed. I was one of those posters who felt that they should bump up. But I also felt my hometown teams of Bishop Luers and Snider should have bumped up as well. Luers for the same reason as Cathedral and Snider just for the sake rumbling with the big boys like old times. Clearly, there are no AD's or head coaches who are going to volunteer to do this, so why should anyone. Mishawaka did it, but as I said in an earlier post, they more than likely did it to avoid better competition. I'm looking forward to seeing Cathedral play in 6a (making 6a stronger) next year while 5a crowns a new champion. If the Irish don't succeed, then back down they go. The system will take care of it.
  18. I don't think Cathedral should elect to play up. No one else does, so why should they. On the outside looking in, I think it's easy for a fan to make that claim. But when you are a coach or an AD, it's pretty clear that the trend is to just go where the IHSAA puts you. Let's see what they do in 6A the next couple of years. If the competition is too stiff, they'll move back down.
  19. Yeah, but with the metro area that they have to draw from, isn't their football program comparable to a school with a 5000+ enrollment? Great program for sure. Much respect for the Irish, but we have to acknowledge that their resources are more than abundant in terms of the quality of kid that comes to play for their program. It's pretty hard to intelligently compare them to 4a public school.
  20. Lol. Comparing Cathedral to Mishawaka? Both comical and disgraceful.
