  1. Thanks man. We just had, like, 84 drops after that. You rooting for TW?? 😆
  2. It is just eastnorth of Gibson Weastern. But not so far north we wear pink panties. *cough*
  3. FINALLY. Someone gets it. Some hot off the press Titan gear coming your way. /s
  4. We're leaving a strategically organized garrison armed with garden hoses and paintball guns (maroon and gold paint, of course) to shy away any would-be local rivalry hooligans and misfits while we're otherwise off en masse this weekend.
  5. *** But hey, first thing first... get a W and THEN we can complain about LOS scheduling. Nothing is guaranteed for any team making that trip as anything more than a fan until everyone TCOB this Friday/Saturday. My sincerest apologies to the football gods if I've offended them by appearing to presume there IS a next week. If anyone needs me, I'll be self-flagellating with maroon and gold pom-poms barefoot down Coal Mine Road until game day... shaaame... shaaaaame... shaaaaaaaaameeee...
  6. That angle also make for a debatable tip/no-tip, but again with the other two angles considered it really just reinforces (from MY perspective at least) a close, but no cigar play by LB #54. This view does help to show the ball didn't elevate right over his hand like it appears in the booth angle, but when taking the EZ camera perspective (filmed from behind the kicker), it reinforces that the ball travels to the left of his hand/arm (kickers right side). But I'm willing to be convinced otherwise with another angle... I mean, if three doesn't tell us enough, how many will?? LOL ...was Zapruder in attendance and shooting from behind the goal posts on the grassy knoll, by any chance?? 😄
  7. I'll concur with Dumfries on the FG being basically an EP, but it was actually two yards shorter than the typical EP. Yes, the ball was on the hash (left hash, not right) so that does make it a bit different, but the snap was right at the holders facemask, the cleanly caught ball went straight to the block without hitting the turf, the kick does not appear to be touched, and it looks like it would have been good from probably 25 or so, maybe a hair more. No Justin Tucker bomb, but it looked like a good, clean ST play. While either the crow's nest camera view or the EZ view is definitely debatable as to whether LB got a hand on it in flight, when taking the two cameral angles into consideration there does no appear to be a player to get close enough to touch it. One guy looks like he might have gotten to it with his finger tips from the booth view, but the EZ view shows the kick coming off at a different looking angle and does not support the finger tip theory. Either way, closer than any of us wanted it for sure. Now, factor in the STRESS of the kick...? Heck no, this was not basically an EP. A looooooot riding on all those things going right, and they executed very well from snap to hold to kick. Kudos to the GS ST group for the focus on getting it done. And hats off to LB... down 21-7 at the half, GS scores right away starting the third quarter to make it 28-7... but they never hung their heads and rattled off 22 unanswered points. Very impressive group of kids, coaches, and fans. Definitely a game no one deserved to lose, and I think LB can be proud of leaving everything they had out there.
  8. I started tailgating waaaaay too long ago and don't have the facilities to assess your thought. Touch base with me mid-week when all this, uh, soda wears off.
  9. I agree that numbers aren't everything, but they do help to at least begin to quantify some of the anecdotal conversations out there. AND start new arguments! I mean, conversations. Re: MD/Castle, that is an interesting number to consider. While Castle has the extra state title, the numbers would indicate that MD is, more broadly speaking, a significantly better program over the past ~50 years. Oh crap... did I just start a P/P v public row?? lol
  10. Thanks for taking the time to put this together, it is a very interesting quantification of "hard" numbers. Our interpretation of the empirical evidence is what will really be the fun part of this conversation starter. Plus I like spreadsheets and colors. If the numbers support it, how can it not be so? I'm not a SE Indiana guy, so that is an honest question, not being a smart-gluteus maximus (trying to stay PC here!). That question asked, I don't know that fenderbender's intention was to use the rankings as a reflection of the contemporary state of the programs listed (although it can be inferred, see fender bender's points #1 and #3 above), but more or a "here's data from the past 50 years, now talk". (And off we go... 🙂 )
  11. Fun Fact: Rod Smart's XFL nameplate was autocorrected to HE LOVE ME on his first jersey. Prior to warmups in their first game he swapped jerseys with the unwitting running back CHUCKWAGON. The real CHUCKWAGON only suspected something was up midway through the second quarter when he kept getting hit on by the male cheerleaders on the sideline. Ok, maybe none of that is true. And possibly inappropriately stereotyping male cheerleaders.
  12. Maybe SR can rent it out Saturday afternoon for a pre-game party bus tour of the south Gibson county (empty) cornfields, and then a post-game bar crawl? Just a thought. May want to stock some extra buckets in the back though... I don't know if that rig has enough johns on it for that kind of event... 😁
  13. Pro Tip: Opponents should wear GS apparel before, during, and after the GS home games to deter profiling. Plus I hear it encourages the visiting team when they see mom and dad beaming down at them in Maroon, Gold, and White all game.
  14. What's to hide? "Tailgating" up front. Tailgating elsewhere. Allegedly. With six packs of uh... sodas... and candy bars... Never you mind the air quotes and underlining. Honestly I'm alllmost as excited to see if we can hook up with STC to get some post-game fish bowls, win, lose, or draw. 😃
  15. I think Memorial would have been very glad to see who would come out on top in the win column over past decade vs GS, particularly versus this GS squad. Maybe especially so. Since 2012 the series is tied 3-3. Three of those six were Sectional Finals. Two were decided by nine points, one by six, and one by three (in OT). The other two games they split a healthy beat down on each other. I'm sure EM would have been champing at the bit to get to GS in sectionals... which the ping-pong gods would have deemed first round worthy, I'm sure.
  16. Only when my stepmom brings home the half empties from the strip club. The afternoon B-team gets all the perks.
  17. Illinois transplant here. Three words: Red Solo Cup. I'll say it right to your face. AND fill your cup with some ice code PBR straight from the keg while I'm doing it. 😉 https://www.enjoyillinois.com/illinois-200/illinois-inventions/
  18. I just hope we're just on the good side of the dub, but I'll take a 18-point (or 28-point) margin if we can get it. It looks like GS will have their hands full with the LB running game. They do a lot of moving around pre-snap and if they can get the linebackers off their keys it looks like they can really gouge a defense and keep the chains moving. Their Q looks like he can spin it too, so just loading the box up probably isn't the solution. But I'll leave that to the experts out on Coal Mine Road though. Eager to see how this one plays out Saturday. Until then, maybe a double dose of the anti-anxiety pills for me as the week progresses. 😶
  19. Lol, well I listened to some of the Salem broadcast of the GS game also and I can say, at least in this case, they leaned generously toward the "homer" broadcast category as far as my taste goes. But hey, before this year GS had a pretty homer broadcast as well. I do like the current GS crew's perspective on the games, and I'm not trying to knock the old broadcast crew either... it's just a personal preference. Either way, it is great to be able to have any guys/gals up there taking the time out of their schedule to do that job. I'm sure many teams out there would kill to get any kind of exposure, so I've always been appreciative of the folks doing it for GS, even if it wasn't my cup-o-tea. And to be fair to Salem's guys, it did sound like they had some old coaching/personal history with those boys growing up (as perhaps many of the local broadcaster folks do), so I can get their personal over-slant on the game, particularly when things were going a bit sideways for them early. Heck, I know a guy that did the GS lower level write ups that could be a pretty capital-H Homer as well... just sayin. 😅
  20. I have not tuned in to a live broadcast with Cole/Kyler (been in attendance to all of them), but listening to the recaps at the start of the NH show has left me impressed with the new crew. Much improved quality, IMO, and I hope they stick around. I also listened to a bit of the Salem replay, and I feel like they did a good job there. You know who their home team is, but it isn't a complete homer-job that is unseated in reality. I want a crew that gets excited for the team they're broadcasting for (naturally), but gives a fair account of what is happening on the field, even if it isn't always completely flattering for the home team. I'm listening to the broadcast to know what is going on because I can't be there, not for a complete fabrication of events. I have Audible for my story telling time.
  21. Try Carriage Inn one block north... the ice cold fish bowls won't treat you wrong. Plus the breaded tenderloin sandwich is as big as your head. Or half a GS fan's head.
