Purdue has regressed in a major why since making Brohm a top ten paid coach. Are we watching the same Purdue team?
-
Brohm is in over his head I’m afraid (although I’m not mad about it). Looks completely lost on the sidelines, play calling is inept, and defense and special teams are new levels of embarrassment every week. Brohm is going to get at least two more years regardless of what happens because Purdue can ill-afford to buyout his contract that he basically swindled the athletic department with. Very good chance Purdue finishes last place the next two years in the B10.

No basing it off him being the best skill position player on the best team. -

But Mr. Football isn’t, or at least shouldn’t, come down to one game. McCahill’s overall body of work against the likely hardest schedule in the Midwest is better than Steele’s. I’m still on record in saying that Steele wins the award. -

Couple key drops early in the game probably lost him some yardage as well. #13 might have went the distance on a slant route on the opening drive if he catches it and #22 dropped a big pass on 3rd and medium at the end of first quarter that would have been a 20+ yard gain. -

If Cathedral converts the 4th and 1 and wins the game, pretty easy to look past his one pedestrian game. Would possibly be a unanimous pick if Cathedral went 15-0 against that schedule. -

No disrespect to Steele because in the end he’s still my pick to win, but you could make the case that Steele was only the 3rd or 4th best player on his team this year. Watching the CG-Cathedral game live, Austin Booker was the best player on the field that night. Curry, a junior, is ineligible for the award. Jackson didn’t have a great night statistically and made several mistakes, but atoned for it with his epic last minute drive. Even if Steele plays later into games not sure the argument changes much. Obviously more appealing stats but still. -
It is a ridiculous hot take. Center Grove had/has a phenomenal junior and senior class, even for their program standard. Everything and every one in high school football is cyclical and Warren and Ben Davis aren’t spared either. Both teams were extremely young this year but by years end were playing some of the best football in the state, sans Center Grove. I fully expect Center Grove to repeat next year, given the talent they return, but BD and Warren will most certainly close the gap.

Franklin might be the biggest fraud of them all on my opinion. Guy gets out coached in seemingly every big game. Harbaugh by record (excluding this year) hasn’t been terrible, he just can’t beat Ohio State which apparently at Michigan means more than winning a national title. For me Luke Fickell is a no-brainer at either UM or PSU. Not sure Fickell entertains the UM job given his Buckeye alumnus status, but he’s not going to get a bigger than Penn State or Michigan.

Cathedral/CG should be a whale of a game next year as well. Cathedral returns a ton on defense and 4/5 of their offensive line. Replacing McCahill won’t be easy but rumor is their back up (freshman this year) was offered by Ball State as an 8th grader. Cannot confirm and have my doubts but just what I’ve heard from a co-worker whose son played at the same CYO program.

Cathedral “should” have won that game but not quite ready to say Cathedral was the better team. Cathedral played absolutely lights out on defense and their only TD of the game came on a pick 6 to take a 13-10 lead. That being said, CG’s defensive line absolutely dictated that game. Cathedral couldn’t get anything going on offense all night. Fairly confident that if they played 10 times all 10 games are closely contested but not ready to say the outcome is a 50/50 split. What I do know is that both CG and Cathedral are head and shoulders better than anyone else in Indiana.
