Roncalli's "demise" and I say demise lightly, has nothing to do with the SF. The SF was implemented in 2014. They were 0fer in sectionals from 06-14 and it had nothing to do with the SF, because it doesn't exist. Since the SF was implemented, they've won a sectional every time they've been in 4A and have a state title. Not sure what Roncalli being good from 2002-2005 has to do with the SF nowadays? -

How have they not? If there was no SF, Cathedral remains 4A this entire time (and in same sectional as Roncalli) as the same with New Pal and nobody knows who Roncalli is. Roncalli has avoided the two best 4A schools by enrollment (Cathedral/New Pal) for the last few years because.......the Success Factor. -

Roncalli didn't make it out of sectionals from 2006 to 2014, the first year the SF was implemented go figure. It's because Cathedral ended their season all but one year. Cathedral hasn't played in 4A since the SF's inception. Roncalli's made it out of sectional every year they've been in 4A post-SF. The only years they didn't make it out of sectionals since SF implementation is when they were once again paired with Cathedral in a 5A sectional. -

No it didn't lol. If anything, the SF helped Roncalli because it moved Cathedral (basically permanently) from its 4A sectional and class enrollement. Roncalli's season was ended by Cathedral in 6 of the 7 years prior to the SF. -

Huh? Explicitly; "The SF mitigated Roncalli's hegemony". Explain? -

On top of restricting eligibility which is stated rather clearly in their rule book. -

And more importantly 11. Transfer and Initial Promotion Eligibility (Rule 19). You have: a. Not transferred from your prior school to your current school for Primarily Athletic Reasons, or, b. Enrolled at your current school for the first time as a 9th grader, or, c. Transferred from your prior school to your current school: And at the same time you and your parents made a bona fide move to a New District or Territory, or, Because you became a ward of the court, or, Because you became an orphan, or, Because your prior school closed, or, And your prior school was not a member of the local state athletic association or was not accredited by the local state accrediting agency, or, Because of a school board mandate for redistricting which involved your prior school, or, Because you enrolled or attended, in error, a wrong school, or, And you transferred from a correctional school to your current school, or, Because you are emancipated and you have now moved to a New District or Territory, or, And you did not participate in a contest for another school or for a club team during the preceding 365 days, or, And your prior school was not a member of the local state athletic association and you have moved back to reside with the same parent or guardian, or, And the transfer is either to or from a Boarding School, or, And you are a qualified Foreign Exchange Student under an approved CSIET program for one year, or, And at the same time your parent or guardian just took a licensed or certified position at your current school, My point is well taken. Mr. Spegal didn't move his family 10 miles down the road to compete in a rival school district. He moved his family more than an hour away in a completely different city. -

But that has nothing to do with the SF, which is what you said initially. Certainly not restricting transfers stemming from parents moving into different school districts, especially in a different area code. -

But what does that have to do with SF impacting Roncalli? Their reign of dominance surely didn't end because they were getting bumped up year after year. Wrong P/P. -

Ya what? Has Roncalli actually ever played up a class? Edit* Should have looked myself. Yes they have, lost to Cathedral twice in 5A sectionals. Go figure, a 4A school by enrollment. If anything, the SF has helped Roncalli as they've managed to avoid Cathedral in sectionals (with the above exception) since the SF inception. If anything, the SF has helped Roncalli. -

Same level? Cathedral was some bad play-calling inside the 5 yard line away from taking a two score lead into the 4th quarter. Game got out of hand quickly but I don't think there was much talent disparity between the two, if any at all. Cathedral dictated that game for nearly 3 quarters and couldn't finish a drive before the wheels came off. -
2009 I believe. Shakir Bell and Co. Doubt either of those schools were nationally ranked as they both had multiple losses. Cathedral beat both Carmel and Warren to open the season that year and was flirting with a national ranking with their lone loss to St. X until they got their doors beaten off against Reitz.

There’s a certain school on the East Side of Indianapolis licking their chops hoping New Pal makes it out of sectionals.... -
Yes and no. The SEC has really taken off these last 10-15 years and that automatically raised Kentucky's profile, which has seen dividends in recruiting. Kentucky also benefits from playing in the SEC East and that has really tremendously as there are years where they avoid Bama, LSU, Auburn completely. Tennessee and Florida have had some down years these last 4-5 seasons and Kentucky has been able to capitalize although both Tennessee and Florida appear to be on their way "back" with a couple solid coaching hires. Indiana also has been hurt (at least in terms of W-L record) as they play in the dominant of the two Big Ten divisions. Simply put, if IU plays a Big Ten West schedule and UK plays an SEC West schedule the last 4-5 years, I think records are reversed.

Line may be better this year, but if Purdue doesn't establish a running game early and often teams are gonna sit in a zone and/or blitz the hell out of whoever is playing QB which is another unknown for the Boilers. As electric as Rondale is, Pudue's lost more games than he's won whenever he's been in the lineup.
