Don’t think anyone from Cathedral is going to blame this on the lights when it happened at their venue of all places. One team showed up to play Saturday morning while the other team was still in bed. I’ll let you guess which team won.

Not real fixated on rankings. Losing to Chatard doesn’t bother me so much as the way they lost. Chatard is a rivalry game and more than a formidable opponent but they out-played and out-coached Cathedral for the final 36 minutes and that can’t happen.

It didn’t. Cathedral and staff thought the game was over after the 1st quarter while Chatard played the entire game.

Pretty admirable effort by BD tonight, especially falling down 21-0 in a hurry, got this one completely wrong. Game was a lot closer than the final score indicated.

Wouldn't the IHSAA have jurisdiction and final say on the kids eligibility? Even if Indian Creek doesn't sign off?

They smoked Dwenger week 2 but yes 1-3 against IN competition before you play an OH opponent really puts them behind the 8ball.

That's what I keep coming back too. There has to be something that the IHSAA and/or Indian Creek can't publicly comment on or Doyel is intentionally omitting from his piece. This story is on the verge of national news (I saw where Yahoo had re-published Doyel's article), just can't fathom that Indian Creek or the IHSAA would die on this hill and allow for all this public scrutiny if they didn't have a leg to stand on.

Feel like there’s an event between 3 and 4 that would likely make #5 make sense, or at least I would hope there is for the sake of the IHSAA, that isn’t conveyed in Doyle’s article.

Do you think it’s partially due to the fact the Indy Star has a columnist reporting the story and not somebody there to actually report all the facts? Do you really think Doyel cares what Indian Creek has to say? Was it really going to change his mind?

But to the point, that's exactly WHAT Doyel does. The story he has written will lead the reader to believe there is absolutely no other side to the story and anyone who isn't on board is an idiot. I've read the article, if what Doyel is saying is 100% true, I would agree, this a terrible look for the IHSAA and Indian Creek. I don't know anything other than what Doyel has written and it would be unfair for me to judge otherwise. However, I've been around long enough to know that something this emotionally charged has two sides for Indian Creek and the IHSAA to come to the decision they did. And I'm not so sure Doyel is sharing it. And why would he?

I know the difference between a columnist and news writer. Most columnists, well the good ones at least, will write opinionated pieces that have been researched to a degree to which an educated opinion can be formed. Not saying this isn't true for this particular piece, but Doyel is notorious for writing hit pieces and making over-sensationalized comments for the simple sake of gaslighting and virtue-signaling, despite not knowing what the hell he's talking about.

There's still a code of ethics in Journalism that need to be followed (or at least there used to be and now a reason why print media sucks) and I'm not so sure that's a concern of Doyel or Gannett (perhaps why they're tanking). There's a a lot of dumb people out there who believe everything they read (I've been guilty a time or two especially in my younger years) and guys like Doyel have made a great living off these types of people.

Arlington was a high school up until a few years ago. Would hardly call Cathedral a "larger school" they just happen to play in the largest class. Seating has never been an issue (parking though on the other hand) for any game I've ever attended there. Stadium is adequate but there could be better concession arrangements. Surface is natural and not an issue...unless it rans for 72 straight hours prior to a game? Edit: see this has already been explained.

Don't think he's a "bad" coach either. But I think he's going to go from a perennial 11-12 win coach to an 8-9 win coach real quick. That was Tommy Bowden...and he got fired.

You disagree on Dabo? Dabo surrounded himself with the brightest minds in football and with the best talent. He put himself in an impossible position to fail. He no longer has either of those luxuries. Look at Saban and Urban when they went to the NFL and actually had to coach and didn't enjoy the rags to riches luxury of talent they enjoyed over the rest of their competition while in college? They failed miserably.

I'd say for guys who are merely used car salesmen like Dabo who don't really know what they're doing that is the case. Dabo is a figurehead.

I have no clue what their NIL collectives look like but they'll continue to get guys so long as the dough is there and/or they stop putting guys in the league. I think the latter in this case is much more prevalent. As Temp said, this is where losing Elliott and Venables is monumental. Those two were the backbone of the program.

We'll see how long Walters sticks with Harrell. This is his 3rd OC gig in as many years and can tell you SC and WVU fans weren't sad to see him go. If Purdue's inability to get off the field Saturday was any indication of how the rest of this season is going to play out, Harrell better be sustaining drives and putting up the points. Always though Walters would have preferred a more ground and pound offense given the type of defense he likes to run.

Maybe. They're still getting guys though, they don't have the staff to develop them.

Just goes to show you how high the bar has been raised and how hard it is to consistently win in college football. I wasn't impressed with Clemson at all last year and while I don't really follow ACC football, never would have guessed they won that many games until you said it. I do think this is the begging of the end for Dabo and Clemson. Still good enough to win 8-9 games a year but I doubt they really challenge for a national title in the coming years.

@BobrefDid you happen to catch the Clemson/Duke game? If so was the targeting call applied correctly? Clemson had 4th and medium, QB scrambled and went into his slide before the first down marker essentially ruling him down and play over but was simultaneously contacted by the Duke player in the head and neck area. Duke player was ejected and assessed 15 yards but as a dead ball foul after change of possession rather than an automatic first down for Clemson effectively ending the game. Seems like a terrible misapplication of the rule even if applied correctly.
