  1. I have not paid a lot of close attention to Castle, but I noticed that the C&P mentioned how their running game has fallen off this year. Castle seemed to have a lot of problems moving the ball against MD, with turnovers scoring one and setting up the 2nd touchdowns. They could not do anything in overtime. MD is a pretty solid defensive team. Do they have two D1 kids on their D? I would guess not. Though BS seems to be allowing a fair ammount of points.
  2. He will end up playing somewhere on Saturday afternoons. I know I am repeating myself, but he throws it effortlessly and on target. He is also big enough to shake off HS lineman trying to tackle him.
  3. Everyone up in Indy is in love with Patterson and his stats. He is a big kid and throws a nice ball, but he will need help to get past EC. Gillin also seems to have a lot of fans. (I am not one. He ended my carreer in his last season at Tri West.)
  4. I was really impressed with how well coached Northview seems to be. They mix the pass and run well. They have a lot of flexibility with their players and move them around a lot between WR and RB. They mix the deep pass, short pass and play action pass well. It will be interesting to see how they would match up with another team that has more line size and mixes the run and pass better than Jasper. (Memorial, EC, Roncalli)
  5. I thought they were going to beat Jasper in the rematch. If they are problems with Central, I may have to favor NV in the finals. Central is not a good football team this year. Lost too much to graduation and injuries.
  6. OK, I did put words in your mouth. I am pretty good at that. Reitz does not have a snowballs chance in hell of getting past EC/Mooresville winner if they were to make it that far.
  7. And I do think that NV has a good shot at winning first sectional in school history.
  8. Have seen Reitz play. They don't have a snowball's chance in hell of making it to the state finals. Personally I think they lose by at least 2 scores to NV. (We will see how well this ages)
  9. The Jasper announcers started the game talking about NV being undersized on both lines, but kind of changed their tune to talking about how quick they were and that they really stayed with their blocks.
  10. All solid points. I too have watched Mooresville a couple of times. After watching the first game, I thought Brimmage would have had a bigger year running the ball. This may sound weird, but I think Mooresville last year and this year do not have enough "middles". Their lineman last year were huge and looked like they have OK size this year. Last year, O'Conner and #1 had pretty decent size, but after that the dropped to what seemed like a bunch of guys under 5'10" at the LB positions that seemed pretty light. (~180lbs?). This is where I thought Roncalli really pushed them around. This will be the game I am going to watch. I think EC has equivlient talent at the skilled positions to Mooresville this year after watching them play Roncalli. Their WRs are better than in years past.
  11. #9 helps out their line a lot. Just have to get the way of the D for a little bit and let him make some people miss. QB threw some nice balls (10/14 vs Jasper) and allows them to have a nice run/pass mix.
  12. Their roster on Maxpreps looks like it is accurate, but not many heights and weights. One thing I look at for rosters is numbers 50-79. The OL/DL. Very few seniors listed in the OL/DL numbers. (I only counted 2) Might explain the comments on the Jasper broadcast about NV being undersized. If Foley is 6'5", then they all looked kind of short.
  13. Mooresville D is very suspect. They give up a lot of points. EC made a few uncharacteristic TOs last year. That coupled with COVID restricted kids really cost them the game. Mooresville QB throws a great ball and he has some weapons. EC kind of reminds me of the Decatur Central team that beat Mooresville. Physical and can run the ball. EC seems to have found a good passing game with #1 catching the ball. EC gets some pressure on the QB and wins a close one.
  14. One TO was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Did not really affect the game. Another was on the goal line. Jasper held NV, got the ball in good field position and scored on that short field drive, so that really did not affect them. NV also fumbled on the goal line. So the two TOs in the second half are the ones that mattered. I watched the game on the replay and the TO factor was not as important at the fact that NV just outplayed Jasper. Espcially when they were on offense. Jasper did not tackle well and the NV WRs were running around open all night. "I will say there was a lot of missed holding calls from the refs, but that is still no excuse" When you say that in your post, you are using it as an excuse. Jasper had been giving up big plays to bad teams like VL, Bosse and Harrison all season. NV was very well coached and executed very well. Jasper overlooked them.
  15. I don’t thing BJ is quite at a different level. The GS kid still has not thrown an INT. BJ QB has some WR that make him look good as he is not really an accurate thrower. Can BJ get pressure on QB will be the question.
  16. I thought Jasper actually threw the ball better this year than last. Last year they really struggled, but this year they seemed somewhat capable. 5 turnover make any offense look suspect.
  17. I would also say that I disagree with calling MD and Castle great. Definitely good.
  18. I think Northview was heavily favored last year vs Memorial due to this factor, but lost by a couple scores.
  19. Well, it is probably a safe bet no one saw 5 TO’s in their prediction .
  20. Don’t Sagarin ratings have problems with closed conferences like the SIAC?
  21. The only stat that matters. Can’t win making 5TOs.
  22. Wow. Jasper overlook them?
  23. Leo just went up. Game if the year.
  24. Is the game being streamed?
  25. Memorial is the team in that sectional that could stand up to EC in Regional and Roncalli at Semistate. That is what I thought until I saw the score of the Castle game. I know it was on grass, but 7 points???
