  1. Any discussion of the best programs in Southern Indiana has to include Memorial. What Coach Hurley has accomplished in his tenure is unbelievable, esp when you take into account the Tiger's success regardless of playing 2A, 3A, or 4A. Truly impressive. Starting with the Rupp teams in 2008/09 to Lindauer/Combs teams of recent years, the Tigers have arguably been on one of the best runs of any high school team from the Evansville area.. EVER. No mythical unicorns in the Tiger pedigree, just hardware.
  2. Or even "Matt-Ter Day" - Yeah, you would think the announcers would at least know how to pronounce the names of the schools involved.....sheesh. Not too much to ask. Maybe @DonnieBaker can send them a sound bite so they get it right this week. He would set them straight, no doubt.. I swear to God, he would. 😎
  3. We are driving up on Friday. If you will be in Indy for any of the games, let us know!
  4. Way to keep it classy with your very first post. SMH If you want to flame other posters on the GID, have at it, but leave the players out of it. They deserve far better than to be used for some immature chat board posting. mi dos centavos
  5. After a 7 year hiatus, the Wildcats are back at LOS looking for a 2nd State Championship. This will be the third weekend in a row for the Wildcats & their fans to make the long drive to the Indy area for a football game. So far, Mater Dei has shown no ill-effects from the nearly 4 hour bus rides and the 'Cats are playing their best football of the season. Do they have enough left in the tank for one more trip?
  6. Congrats to the Tigers & their fans for another tremendous season. It ended 1 game too soon but nothing to hang your head about. Possibly the best 4-5 year period of high school football the Evansville area has ever seen by 1 team. 💪
  7. Mater Dei's DEFENSE controlled the LOS the entire game. Scecina did not get a 1st down until their 2nd drive of the 2nd half that would eventually lead to their lone TD. They would only get 3 more 1st downs the rest of the game. Scecina D was stout as well but with offense sputtering, the Scecina defense was on the field too much. The Wildcats & their fans get a 3rd straight week of Nap Town Turn-arounds...LOS here we come!
  8. Mater Dei gets a date in Indy next week! Woohoo Way to Go 'Cats! 23 - 7. DOMINANT DEFENSE ALL NIGHT LONG!
  9. MD 23 - 7 over Scecina start of 4th qtr
  10. Evv Memorial & Mt Vernon tied at 21 w/ 6 mins left in 1st half. Each team has scored on their first 3 possessions
  11. Mater Dei leads Scecina at the half 23 - 0. 😁
  12. Yes, real football gene-yusses, these 2. NOT ; - \ And the the one guy keeps call us May-ter Dei. Sheeesh, at least know the NAMEs of the teams/schools. C'mon. Anyhow. GREAT 1st half by the Wildcats! Very happy to have a nice cushion. Stennis can change a game in a hurry. Fingers crossed!
  13. Sorry, no local radio for the MD game that I am aware of...
  14. Best of Luck to TIGERS for a Semi-State victory tonight! You'll are wearing out the path to LOS!
  15. Best of luck to the Titans for a Semi-Stave victory and your first trip tp Lucas Oil...hopefully the Wildcats & Tigers can you join you!
  16. This is where we all need to be reminded that "considering" does not, in practice or reality, mean actually making such a decision...it is the IHSAA, after all.
  17. I reached out to Massey a week ago to let them know but nothing has changed. Guess everyone is busy. The real question could be that if Memorial wins state, will "Reitz" try to claim yet another mythical title? 🦄
  18. Here are Massey's picks too. I would bet the farm, back up the truck, & go all in on Mt Vernon NOT defeating "Reitz" tomorrow! 😜
  19. from the Evansville Courier & Press: https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2021/11/18/indiana-high-school-football-playoffs-mater-dei-vs-scecina/8643313002/
  20. For Mater Dei to win, they will need to defend the LOS and keep Stennis(?) from getting out in space. Stennis is hard to bring down once he gets into secondary and he can outrun any DB. From the games I have watched, teams that have forced Scecina into 3rd & long/passing situations have fared much better. Scecina is capable of passing the ball but not their strong suit. MD may be a bit more balanced on Offense in that they have been able to win games using either option running (TC) or passing (LS). This could be the key for the Wildcats. It will be difficult for Scecina to shut down both run & pass (IMO), which gives MD an slight edge, again, just my opinion. Both teams have strong Defenses and have allowed few points in the post-season so far. This is where the game will be decided, IMO. Whichever D can disrupt the other’s offense enough to get a couple of stops and/or TOs, likely wins. I will pick MD 24 – 21 but only because I am an unabashed homer… Best of luck to both teams for a well-played game and safe travels to all fans, esp. the MD faithful who will be on the road again for another 7-8 hour Nap Town Turn-around.
  21. I do not recall seeing this rule before but may have possibly just overlooked it. Is it new this year or added recently? I was really excited about MD hosting SS at Bowl. Seems like something added to appease Indy schools, IMHO
  22. Appreciate the banter, certainly no offense intended. 😎 I have been impressed by Scecina in the videos I have watched. I do not follow them during the season so no way to gauge how well they have played the last few wks vs regular season. I know they avenged a close, early season loss to HC in the sectionals by 3 TDs, so something went their way in that 2nd game. They are very fast & certainly capable of defeating MD. However, I think MD is also firing on all cylinders at this point which should make this a very good game! One thing area where Scecina has looked vulnerable on tape is passing defense. They have a strong pass rush but when QBs have had time, they have been successful against Scecina D. MD has a pretty good passing game, better than recent teams Scecina has defeated, IMO. So that is where I am hanging my hopes for a Wildcat victory this Friday. I would feel better if Scecina had the 4 hr bus ride but MD has been there, done that 2X already in the playoffs! Best of luck to both teams.
  23. Chalk it up to the whole "blind squirrel/nut" theory...
  24. Good news for fans from both school who will not be able to attend the game. IHSAAtv.org will carry the game. Here are payment options for those interested.
