Maybe not exactly murderer’s row, but neither was Ben Davis’s sectional with 3 of the worst teams in 6A. You play who’s in front of you. Carmel has had the same easy run all the way to the state finals for years.

The 1A/2A schools most likely never have this issue as they could have 20 kids hurt and still be able to dress them on State Finals day. You recommend adding a 7th class to give more opportunities for rings, yet have no sympathy that a kid who rightfully busted his tail to get there in 6A may have to watch the game from the stands.

You may not get a chance the following year. It’s not always that simple. Don’t get me wrong, 75 is better than 53 as in the pros, or the 70 in the Big Ten (except bowl games), but there are still a number of positions where only one backup is in that role, and putting an injured player into the active roster could POTENTIALLY (obviously the odds are in the favor this wouldn’t happen) be an issue. If CG had the luck of the Colts receiving corps this year, that could really be a massive issue.

They used to play Roncalli and the contract was canceled as Roncalli picked up Southport. In my opinion, this would be a one-sided affair and I have no doubt that Roncalli, by having their own stadium, would want in on the gate. Chatard would be a solid opponent and most years, would compete very well in the 6A tournament. They too, though, would want a home game. You could bring in Ohio programs or some of the better Illinois or Ohio programs, but you can only get so many of them and many are already well set into their contracts.

I am going to have to respectfully disagree. The MIC was mainly formed because of class basketball. There were many more independent programs prior to class bb and because of the introduction of class basketball, many of the conferences were shuffled around and reorganized to better suit teams you’d be seeing in the tournament vs geographical location. It just so happens that the MIC became a football conference thanks to the success of Ben Davis, then the basketball programs caught up thanks to BD on the girls side and LN on the boys side. I would also have to respectfully disagree on CG getting up to 7 home games annually. Budgets are determined a number of years in advance by most booster organizations. Any school that would sign a contract (except for Cathedral) is going to expect a home and home series, which means if you have 7 home games in 2020 for example, most likely in 2021 you’re going to be on the road for 6 at minimum (more than likely 7.) In the current structure, CG can make on average $120,000 on a 4-game schedule and $150,000 on a 5-game schedule. If you cut that in half on an every other year basis, it would actually hurt the program. Yes, you could pull money from the previous years gate, but annual operating budgets don’t work that way in the eyes of the boosters. Just my thoughts...

Yet the LN GBB team was in the State Finals last year, the LC BBB team was in the regional last year (defeating Warren and LN in the process), and both LN and LC are on this years short list of state contenders. Mallory has turned LN into a team that’s ready to breakthrough. Just 2 years ago they beat both Noblesville and Brownsburg, both from the HCC by a combined 76-29. 💤💤💤 Earlier Carmel and CG should leave and go to the HCC because they’re better off. Now LC and LN? They sure won’t bring the crowd to games! Carmel and CG aren’t going anywhere and I can tell you now that the chances of LN and LC going anywhere are even less. The only other suitable athletic option for either would be CI and that’s NOT happening.

This won’t matter though since the HCC is taking over as the best conference. Should be much more competitive this year...

Absolutely not. At some point you have to draw the line. If Indy has their own tournament, then when the region starts to dominate, they’d need their own tournament. Then Ft Wayne. No. That would open up a major can of worms. 6 classes is too much in football as it is, why over saturate the tournament to even more classes?

I can show you a picture of a basketball game Vs Fishers last year at Carmel where the Carmel student section totaled 50 at most. You’re absolutely right, football or basketball, it’s widespread.

This comment shows just how much of a forum troll you are... Earlier in the year you posted a thread about “Where’s the talent?” Included in that thread was Center Grove. Now you’re saying the torch has been passed and that CG and Carmel are the cream of the crop in terms of talent. Are we forgetting that BOTH BD and WC are coming off history making teams? They’re both one of the greatest teams of all-time, and they’re certainly 1-2 of the 2010’s decade. 6A titles currently: WC 2, BD 2, CG 1, Carmel 1. Both BD and WC will be a force next year. CG will continue to win their sectional because it’s the CG invitational. Carmel next year will be challenged with some key losses. I hope we continue to roll but I’d be surprised to see them win the sectional next year. Funny how one year can pass a torch. Earlier in the year the MIC was in its demise, now the torch is being passed. These two also played in the title game in 08 if you don’t remember? I’d say BD and WC turned out just fine. There are so many athletes walking those hallways daily and with their resources, they’re not going anywhere any time soon.

HCC attendance wasn’t very good in the tournament either. Westfield surely wasn’t full in the sectionals.

Again, get over yourself. I wasn’t at the game. I didn’t watch the game. I was told by a CG official (not a referee, an administrator) that they weren’t going to be selling anymore tickets. Yes, that’s hearsay but it’s from someone who makes a lot more than you’ll ever make. Not everyone can be perfect like you.

It’s not outlandish when you were told by a CG official that they wouldn’t be selling more tickets because they were sold out. Obviously that person made a mistake. Get over yourself...

Game is a sellout, I’d say it’s got plenty of interest. A jump to the HCC would sure make CG the big dog on the block though since the rest of the conference sure couldn’t do squat in the tournament.

Zionsville is the town right next to Carmel. More and more families have moved to the burbs, ZVille is one of the nicest places to live in America. They have plenty of space to grow, so there ya have it!

If New Pal wins this year which I believe they will, that’s 4 points. They still have to win a regional in 2020 and with the turnover on the team it will certainly be hard to get past their sectional and certainly their regional. I’d say most of the time that the top class is always the best, but I think Luers and Chatard have had teams in the past that could’ve won the 6A title. New Pal, Valpo, Cathedral and Chatard all could have won the 6A title this year. New Pal is probably best in state this year, though next year they’ll certainly see a drop off. It’s extremely hard to reload at the smaller schools, eventually you rebuild whereas the mega schools almost always reload.

That's really an extremely weak argument... Yes, Perry Meridian had a weak offense. Southport, not awful, but not great. Zionsville, however, averaged 25.0/game (26.6/game before the BD game) and were limited to 7 points. They wouldn't have scored at all if BD would have kept the starters in the game. If you want to go even further, since week 5, BD defense is giving up 13.25/game which includes 24 to WC though technically 10 (2 TD were because of turnovers), 14 to Carmel, 7 to North Central and of course 7 to the lone remaining HCC team, Zionsville. This isn't week 4 BD, just as it isn't week 4 CG. These two teams are extremely different at this point. This one should be quite the showdown. I'll be watching the webcast while at the Carmel game.
