I would add that he did pretty well at Harrison but to your point it was year three before they won a sectional. Is Reitz closer to competing than Harrison was when he took over? Does Reitz have the athletes that he was able to get out at Harrison?

Completely agree, they will have the athletes to compete at a very high level in the SIAC. Coach Brunson will put those athletes in position to make plays but can Big Dad get his O-line to become a staple of success again for the Panthers. I will be shocked if Reitz isn't top 3 or 4 by seasons end.

Predicting back to back losing seasons for the Panthers? Wouldn't be shocked if Vincennes finishes closer to the middle of the pack, I know little about their team but I know they have a lot of community pride! Now I know you can't really go off scores, especially from the previous season but just for fun... They beat Bosse by three scores last year, Bosse played Memorial, Reitz, North closer and beat Harrison. Vincennes plays Memorial, Reitz, North and Harrison all at home this year. Coach Salters has never coached in the SIAC but he has won 8 or more games in all of his first three seasons.

No Football in Marion County til October.

Sad day in Marion County, absolutely hate this for these kids. I worry too many of these kids could struggle with depression issues over this decision. -
I think we missed this one... Boonville https://www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2020/07/18/boonville-football-start-new-qb-first-time-4-years/5428156002/

Thanks I missed that, fits what they have coming back and as a former O-lineman I'm sure he (coach Webb) likes a little ground and pound!

You may be correct but I watched most of Gavins mid season highlights and saw him under center once. Almost entirely 4 wide shotgun sets and his mid season stats were 1000+ yds passing and 131 yds rushing. Tell City QB last year in 10 games threw for 475 yds. When I saw Tell City play they used a full back pretty often. I was told that one of the concerns with going outside of the program was having to change what they started having success with last year. Meaning the option attack they used, it was my understanding that Coach Webb was expected to have a different offense.

Have to think this is a good hire for TC football, wonder if he will employ more of a spread attack like he had as OC at SS and as they run at Owensboro? TC returns A LOT of players and have an opportunity to have a very good year, felt Coach Clements had them going in a good direction. Expect coach Webb to continue that and TC to compete for the small school conference title.

I think the question is what qualifies a program as “elite?” To me Memorial has been elite the last 4 years but not anyone else around SW Indiana..

What does Mater Dei have coming back? I was thinking the would have a new QB and both the RBs graduated? Not that it makes much difference they always have good kids waiting to play.

Center Grove DL Curry Offered by Bama
Cappy replied to a topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
I would say Sheldon Day has been more of an outlier the last 7 - 10 years. With players like Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy both being drafted high in 2010 and both being over 6'4" the trend has long been going towards length. Recently Notre Dame had DT that were drafted that exceded 6'6" (Jarron Jones, Jerry Tillery.) The NFL average is 6'3" for a DT and around 310, so the bulk is still there, BTW Sheldon Day only weighs 285lbs. -

Sheldon Day -
According to the link above they return most of the offense... "Returning players accounted for 72% of the Tigers touchdown production (rushing and receiving, 68 TDs), 97% of their rushing yards, 63% of their receptions and 56% of their receiving yards in 2019"

I would imagine he would be a real good old fashioned TE! I believe JJ Watt started out as a TE in college. -

Do you think Curry plays DT or DE at the next level, Rivals list him as a SDE and 247 list him as a DT. Is he a DT in a four front and DE in a three front? Is he going to end up north of 300#'s? Is he 6'5" or closer to 6'3" -

Looks like Jaylon started #9 on 247, not sure on rivals but I'm confident it was pretty high. Johnson being a flop has little to do with how highly regarded he was as a recruit Fisher is nearly a 5 star now on rivals, he was in the top 30 I believe in his initial ranking. All of them had offers from Alabama -

Jaylon Smith was #2 nationally on 247 and #3 on Rivals, Caden is currently #134 on 247 and outside of the initial top 100 on Rivals. More recently Hunter Johnson was #53 on 247 and #18 on Rivals, 2020 has Blake Fisher who is nearing 5 star on Rivals at #22 and is #84 on 247 Caden is obviously very highly regarded but to become the "Indiana's all time most highly regarded high school football recruit" he has a long way to go and will only have one summer (because of Covid-19) to go to camps to increase his rankings.
