  1. Great news for PAC football and PC!
  2. If I remember correctly he stated that the benefits had become too expensive and the pay was lacking compared to South Spencer. That was a few years ago so I could be misremembering....
  3. Always thought USI could offer a great opportunity for some of the kids who struggle a little more in the classroom, want to continue to play football and couldn't get into UE
  4. Nope, could see both sides. He had success when he had a established program with talent. He lives in Owensboro and has not had the results at SS I’m sure he had expected.
  5. Yeah I believe he still lives in Owensboro, unless its from the Ridge.
  6. You think Hart snubbed Reitz and took the Apollo job? 😀 So that means that at least two PAC teams may need new coaches...
  7. They have a turf field at the school that they practice on and I believe they use it for JV and Freshman games.
  8. Believe he is the Assistant AD with a pretty substantial salary....
  9. Off topic but how many more years does Goebel got in him?
  10. I noticed you left Mt. Vernon and Washington off your schedule but included Princeton?
  11. Reitz is just two years removed from being SIAC champions, I expect them to be in the mix next year with a good hire.
  12. Because Reitzguy said "Need to do what it takes to get Nick Hart away from GS."
  13. I think it would be very easy to make an argument that a more desirable job would be one of the private schools in Evansville or one of the successful area public schools. I'm sure they have at least one that could be deemed qualified, I would suspect that they will look for a big name from outside the current staff first.
  14. Many different ways to look at this.... Historically most everyone would say Reitz is a better job. As they currently sit, many would consider the GS job to be better. From my perspective, the community at GS seems to be more forgiving of any shortcomings that may occur whereas the people on the hill have extremely high expectations with little forgiveness. Reitz job would present the highest ceiling in my opinion but may currently have the lower floor. Can't wait to start hearing rumors on who is applying for this job. With Reitz bowl, facilities, history, huge booster club, rivalries and high expectations Reitz would be my dream job if I was a Head Coach. Obviously not everyone will see it that way
  15. Gibson Southern grad Joey Paridean is now the longest tenured head coach at Evansville public school (North)
  16. I'm sure they will look at coaches/teams that have had successful turnarounds to this point in the new PAC...

  18. Jasper senior point guard Brooke Nottingham scored her 1000 point last night in a win vs Evansville Reitz. Brooke was the 6th Lady Wildcat to accomplish this feat and joined her brother (Tyler "TD: Nottingham) to become the first brother/sister combo to accomplish this feat at Jasper. They are my niece and nephew so I'm a little proud this morning. https://duboiscountyherald.com/b/nottingham-reaches-1000-in-senior-night-win

  19. I was trying to figure out who was the last Central athlete to come to NP.... Castle, Mater Dei, Gibson, Mt Vernon, Day School... all of those I can think of a kid but not Central.
  20. @DaveMosbey Any chance you will do a write up about the OT game last night between HH and NP? I went and watched the Viking wrestlers at Tell City in the PAC duals and sounds like I missed two good games (JV also went into OT.) TIA
  21. I think if you figure in usage you can get closer to quantifying the cost. Using it 20-30 times a year at a cost of say $200k (use this number because that is what we had spent to just grass maintenance over the previous 15 years) every 15 years on sod. Compared to using it hundreds of times a year for $750k every 12 years and supposedly the initial cost is much higher than the re-surface.
  22. I believe Green Bay went to a Hybrid field that is natural grass reinforced with synthetic fibers. Bet that cost $$$
  23. I think the ROI would be influenced by the situation as well, for example, North Posey had a water issue that had completely ruined the track. The whole field had to be destroyed to fix the problem, it was going to cost over $200,000 to have grass put back and $700,000 to have turf. Over the last 15 years we have spent over $200,000 to try to have a decent grass field and that doesn't include watering or mowing expenses. To keep damage down the PE classes didn't use it, the Varsity or JV didn't practice on it, the band was limited with their usage, and when we host relay for life we had to keep people off it. Now everyone gets to use it, the youth league, JR High, and High School teams all practice on it. Track team will use it (especially helpful for runners with fighting shine splints,) the baseball/softball teams will have access to use it during wet practices, the boys and girls soccer teams can have games on it (although so far they don't want too,) we can include the field into our relay for life event, and the PE classes spend more time on it than any sport! No doubt the initial expense is high and we don't know yet what we don't know about its upkeep, but I can tell you it sure looks nice. Many in our community are proud of it, and we are sure using it compared to the old grass field. I think it could become a community builder with our relay for life and some other activities we plan to use it for in the future. What schools are on their 3rd turf field?
  24. The Cowboys should be considered for contraction, the league is watered down with too many teams and the Cowboys consistently under perform. Those players are being put into a situation that is obviously dangerous to their mental and physical health. Plus the league would be better without Jerry...
