Hey there! I'm Andrew Marcum, and I've been crunching numbers as a high school football statistician in Ohio for over 15 years. Recently, my go-to stat software was discontinued, leaving me without a reliable solution to record stats. I tried all the options available, and none of them met my expectations. So, what did I do? I got to work, talked to other statisticians, and built my own solution.

We used iTouchdown last year. Served it’s purpose as we were left scrambling with Digital Scout shutting down last minute, but looking for something different this year. 
When will it be released? Ap/subscription cost?

not that I am trying to hurt this new stat software, may even possibly use it in the future, but I have moved to turbostats.com for my stats software, it only works on Windows Products, so No Apple. but It is definitely robust in what it is capable of.

 

I appreciate this post cause I will be keeping an eye on this product for the future.

I agree, TurboStats has a good set of features. But as you said, with it not being available on iOS or Android, there's a gap to be filled there.

When I was looking for new software last year, TurboStats was one that I looked into. But I couldn't do it for a few reasons: (1) It was way too expensive for my coach to agree to. My product comes in about 1/4 the cost of their cheapest package. And (2) Maybe even more importantly, with the size of schools my team plays (and their facilities), I cannot guarantee having press box space at every away game. So if I'm stuck doing stats from the bleachers - exposed to the weather - a laptop option is not quite as appealing (or even feasible) as one that's available on phone and tablet, but contains most the same features.

Some use TurboStats and love it, and that's great. But for those like me, it's just not one I could consider.

i do agree with you on the pricepoint of TurboStats, the initial startup can be quite a knock in the teeth. Mine came with a surface pro, which is like a tablet, as the Keyboard can unattach from it. So running stats from the sideline is still possible.  

As I said, I will be on the lookout for this new product, as it will work on any tablet our team has for its disposal.

I've been a journalist for 15 years. Prior to that I'd volunteer to keep stats with the big book. I enjoy it in a sick kind of way -- football, baseball and basketball. I also do some PHP and HTML scripting. 

I can't believe Scout and the predecessors dropped the ball on this. With all their development power, they got very greedy and forgot to just make systems which work well. 

I've thought of a similar venture. I only suggest that you get a system that works as well as paper and pencil, then you offer premium packages for detailed reports and live analysis.

Thank you. My first several years I used pencil and paper with Tucker Grid Stat. Eventually I got smart and recreated it in Excel. Haha! After DigitalScout discontinued, I knew I had to make something 'cuz nothing else was any good. Still working on some defects, but shooting for a late July date. I'll keep everyone posted!

The app is live. It's designed to be a mobile, but there is actually a web-based site to at least set up games. Not sure if you can keep stats through the site, or whether it is exclusively on mobile.

I'm going to try and use it while doing PxP for Sheridan.  The app isn't perfect, but I think it will work nicely.

Anyone using this? We tried week 1 and the entire app and website crashed. Went back to the old stat app since. This app has potential and want to go back to trying it, but looking for some verification the bugs are worked out before giving it another shot.
