BLACKGOLD2007 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 So, there has been a bunch of chat about Elkhart this season. A couple of Transfers in from Mishawaka, a new coaching staff who is trying to change the culture at the school. As of right now they are meeting those expectations. A close week 1 loss to the 5A #1 team (in some polls) Concord. Then going on to beat the teams in front of them have set up the NIC title match vs a Penn team who in all reality is propped up with a down schedule. A bad loss to Mishawaka in week 2 and a messy win vs Valpo in Week 1 has just been diminished by CP who thrashed Valpo 41-7 on Friday night. Right now, based on the Concord ranking, the Penn game will be their second best game of the season. After weeks of settling in, I think it is fair to say this will be their first true test. Does Elkhart take the next step in their program evolution and overcome their newly minted rival in Penn, or does the status quo remain in tact in the NIC? This game is at Penn, I anticipate that Penn's Offense will struggle some, because they are beat up at the RB position our pass game is inconsistent and our QB run game fell off the face of the Earth after week 1. I think our D is starting to settle in, but will give up a big play here and there. I expect Penn to win 28-14. Quote
Crusty Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 As a Mishawaka fan I don't say this often........GO PENN!! 1 Quote

Your right. this will be a great test for both teams and hopefully turn out to be a good competitive game. Not buying in to the eklhart hype just yet… penn and their defense has changed a lot since that valpo win… Most of Penn’s struggles are really coming from penalties and inexperience. From what I hear that’s also true for Elkhart? I also have to believe Penn has been playing it safe with their QB the last few weeks. in the long run they have their sights set on staying healthy for sectionals. When you can win by 40 (throwing the ball maybe 4 times) there is no reason to run your QB all over the field and blow up a season. Looking forward to a good game! Quote
temptation Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Winner moves into Temp’s top 20. 1 Quote
BTF Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 I think it's fantastic that Mishawaka might be better than they were last year in spite of two of their best players jumping ship. They'd have a blue ring this year had they stayed. The grass isn't always greener elsewhere. I'm still not sold on Elkhart. I'll take Penn in this one. Top 25 Temp. I'm not sold on the body of work of either team to anoint them Top 20. Much respect for Penn, I always like to see them play well. Quote

I just hope it is true. I expect Penn is going to struggle with CP's size and speed. But, maybe it will be a shootout like last year. 21 hours ago, temptation said: Winner moves into Temp’s top 20. Penn's defense has changed a lot since Valpo ??? They got roasted by Mishawaka and they haven't played anyone since . Penn's only chance at a championship this season would be a conference championship . They will not make it out of their Sectional . That being said , I would expect the Elkhart game to be somewhat close with Elkhart winning by 7-10 . Quote

Roasted?if I’m remembering correctly Mishawaka didn’t score the whole second half except throwing an extra TD on the board the final minute or two of the game? im just saying they aren’t allowing teams to score every drive (and easily) like the Valpo game Quote

What do you think would happen if Penn Played ANY top 10 6A team . Quote

Years ago that would have been true but now I have a Son and Daughter in Law who both teach and coach at Penn High so my respect level for Penn High is at an all time high. That said I sure had fun with some good natured ribbing after this years game. 1 Quote
Komets2727 Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 I got Penn winning something like 24-21 Quote
Rocket Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Definitely not sold on Elkhart, I think Penn takes care of business and wins by 14+ Quote

I can see not wanting to get Watson hurt , but you have to let the fastest guy on the field run . 1 Quote
