Wing T

I’ve always loved watching wing T offenses.   Name some of the best teams in the state who run it.

Mike Johnson was as good as anyone in running it

Johnson is still running it well at Logansport. 

Pioneer is still a well oiled machine with the Wing T 

Lewis Cass is also a school that has seen a lot of success with this offense... Cass County is Wing T country.

Wing-T means a lot of things to a lot of people. Johnson and Clay Mannering definitely keep the Scott Mannering double wing Wing-T alive and well. Many teams are also doing lots of Gun-T or shotgun Wing T (billion ways to skin a cat) or at least mixing lots of Wing-T elements into spread running games. It is a great offense to watch and useful/applicable in many ways to this day.

This right here. So many wing-t concepts fit so nicely with the spread. So many teams running orbit with their dive and power out of shotgun. I see more and more H-backs every year.

I talked to a head coach a couple of years ago about running the wing-t and he basically said he'd never run it, and that it gives his kids no advantage. I tuned in to one of their games this year and I watched them walk up to the line in tight gun, orbit one of the WR, and ran read the other way. Do you think he knows he's running wing-t?

Ron Shaffer does a nice job of running this offense at Rochester.

Center Grove and Lawrence North used to be primarily Wing-T offenses, but they have begun to abandon that. Center Grove still runs elements of it when they want to line up and pound you.
