  1. Edit: Answered my own question. Brutal sectional that will be.
  2. This is absurd. I will not speak for Coach Wes but I know that the Greensburg staff has the upmost respect for east central and their coaching staff. Happy for them and their coaches as they are likely headed to another state championship.
  3. My Picks - Jerry Brewer, Bud Wright, Bob Gaddis, Dick Dullaghan
  4. Being a newcomer to this conference, this has to be one of the most hilarious conference threads every week. Well done everyone.
  5. As would I, however, I would say in my entire career (HS/College) I played on 1 properly maintained grass field. I had 3 injuries directly related to field conditions on grass and never had an issue on turf. In the instance of the NFL with the resources to properly maintain a grass playing surface they should do so, but don't think that's scalable for high schools.
  6. Here you go @Muda69 A study completed in 2011 found that there is no scientific evidence to support concern that the turf is harboring the bacteria that causes MRSA. Serensits TJ, McNitt AS, Peterunak DM. Human health issues on synthetic turf in the USA. J Sports Eng. & Tech. 2011;225(Part P). DOI:10.1177/1754337111398407. Furthermore, a study completed in 2004 found that while turf burn may open up the skin for infection, the bacteria was actually being transmitted in the locker room. Begier et al. 2004. A High-Morbidity Outbreak of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus among Players on a College Football Team, Facilitated by Cosmetic Body Shaving and Turf Burns. Clin Inf Dis. 2004;39:1446-53. If you need more studies which reinforce the above here is some light reading for you: Serensits, T J, et al. “Human Health Issues on Synthetic Turf in the USA.” Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part P: Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology, vol. 225, no. 3, 13 June 2011, pp. 139–146, plantscience.psu.edu/research/centers/ssrc/documents/human-health-issues-on-synthetic-turf-in-the-usa.pdf, 10.1177/1754337111398407. 8. The irony of this statement given your profile picture is amusing.

  11. First time in a while 5a will have no success factor teams. New Pal will move down to 4a and Cathedral up to 6a. Cathedral moving up means Harrison will be the first team in 5a and Greenfield will bump down to 4a.
  12. Pretty cool to have two first timers in the championship. Go Raiders 😏
  13. New Pal going PPV https://newpalestineathletics.com/2021/08/13/nphs-athletics-partners-with-ihsaatv/
  14. Big welcome to Coach Glesing at Shelbyville and congratulations on the promotion to Coach Lidy! https://shelbycountypost.com/sports/552804 http://www.greenfieldreporter.com/2021/01/25/mt-vernon-hires-lidy-as-new-head-football-coach/
  15. New Pal - (Marvin) Shepler Field at (Robert) Kelso Stadium. Kelso being a former princpal and Shepler being the HOF coach that coached from 68-01.
  16. Merrillville is dripping to 5a with 32 schools because they have the 36th highest enrollment.
  17. Well aware. I never said either team would go to the North semi-state this classification, rather that in 2017-2018, New Pal did go North. My point being that New Pal has historically gone to the more northern sectional while Cathedral has gone south.
  18. I don't think Cathedral will go North. I base that off the 2017-2018 classification when Cathedral went South and New Pal even went to the north semistate. Cathedral has been in Decatur Central's sectional for the last 4 years and I don't see the ISHAA changing all that.
  19. This season was tough, for a variety of reasons, but it was certainly tough. The overall cathartic moment we had coming from behind to beat Franklin first round of sectional play is something I will never forget. We were down 27-3 late in the 3rd and found a way to win. It wasn't the best win this program has ever had nor will it be the one everyone ever talks about, but seeing our seniors literally cry tears of joy/relief at the end of that game is most certainly the highlight of this season for me.
  20. My best guess for 5a. 9: Merrillville, Munster, Hammond Morton, Hammond Central 10: Michigan City, LaPorte, South Bend Adams, Valparaiso 11: Huntington North, Goshen, Concord, Mishawaka 12: FW Northrop, FW North Side, FW Bishop Dwenger, FW Snider 13: New Palestine, Kokomo, McCutcheon, Anderson 14: Whiteland, Decatur Central, Indpls. Cathedral, Plainfield 15: Bloomington South, Bloomington North, Columbus East, Franklin 16: New Albany, Floyd Central, Castle, Seymour
  21. Don't know how to record the broadcast into an MP4, but here are some screen grabs. Happens around the 1:00:17 mark of the broadcast.
