Believe they pulled in a few transfers as well who have D1 offers. Unless their new coach is in completely over his head, they'll be a tough out for anybody. Easy now. Elkins has a Michigan offer. In all seriousness though, Warren will be fine on that side of the ball particularly. I maintain they would have been better off in many instances last fall, just punting before 4th down anytime they got behind the sticks. Their offense was the worst I’d ever seen for a 10 win team. (I recommend this for Iowa football annually also.) Edited July 9, 2025 by temptation Quote

They had enough talent to overcome their shortcomings. That's really what it came down to. And the 15 pts they scored against Snider was the second highest output for any team on Snider's schedule. Lot's of talent on that team. Edited July 9, 2025 by 23andCounting Quote
Rodney Posted July 9, 2025 Posted July 9, 2025 nobody wants to admit that there wasn't a team in Indiana keeping ec out of the endzone in 2023 feelsbad but its ok! the fort wayne guys would argue that snider could make a game vs Notre Dame as well any given year (before someone starts, no i think BD would have handily beat them, but ec was absolutely going to score some points) 1 Quote

Otherwise, respected his wish to include all MIC and HCC programs and the others he mentioned. Ben Davis 6. Crown Point 7. Hamilton Southeastern 8. Cathedral 9. Fishers 10. New Pal 11. Carmel 12. Pike 13. Lawrence Central 14. Snider 15. Carroll 16. Avon 17, Noblesville 18. Franklin Central 19. Chatard 20. Warren Central 21. Zionsville 22. Merrillville 23. Roncalli 24. East Central 25. North Central Ben Davis at #5 feels too high. Glad to be wrong. I just know the Giants and the staff have a lot of work to do. Tough sledding for the other three teams in the Sectional with Brownsburg, too. Quote

For the record, I think Ben Davis was the best team in the state of Indiana in 2023. I think Brownsburg and Center Grove were right there if memory serves me correctly. I've pretty much kept my opinion regarding Snider vs EC on the downlow knowing that it would hurt a lot of feelings. People were saying the same thing about New Pal back in 2015 before they found themselves on the short end of a blowout down 42-14 half way through the second quarter. Look, you can't ignore Snider outscoring Warren Central, Decatur Central, and Merrillville by a combined 103-26. They gave up two offensive touchdowns, one special teams touchdown, and two field goals in those three contests. Saying that Snider could or would have beaten East Central is far from being unrealistic. It's actually responsible. Flattered by the Notre Dame comparison though. 1 Quote

Ben Davis 2023 was one of the best state championship teams ever to come out of BD. Offensively, they were just behind the 1991 and 2017 teams. Defensively, they weren't the juggernaut that some of the Dullaghan teams were, but they were certainly solid. That team excelled with senior leadership. Kevin Vanderbush listed those student leaders as some of the best he'd had in his tenure at BD. All that said, BD still barely made it to state with last-second stunners against Brownsburg, Cathedral and Center Grove. They were all sensational that year. 1 Quote

I was surprised each week when I looked at the WC stats to see how much fewer yardage Garnett, the transfer kid from Westfield, was getting. The kid had over 1,300 rushing and receiving yards the prior year against that tough schedule that Westfield plays. He practically brought them back from the dead in that Semi State at Crown Point. Last year at WC, less than 800 total yards. Maybe he was injured? Poor offensive line play, poor coaching? Quote
