Knox @ Jimtown - Conference teams meeting in rd. 1. Knox won 56-13 just 3 weeks ago. Hard to argue the score will be any different this week. Jimtown did have a nice win against Lakeland to close out the season, so can they carry that momentum to make a competitive game?

Tippecanoe Valley @ Angola - Angola is better than their record shows and it’s a 1 hr 45 minute bus ride for TV. It could be a possible upset in the making.

Bremen @ Whiting - Bremen also has a 1 hr 45 minute bus ride to the NW corner of the state. But Whiting shouldn’t pose a threat and Bremen should take this one fairly easily.

LaVille @ Culver - LaVille has been putting up points and is going to make some noise in Sectional 41. If they get past a struggling Culver, it should setup a 2nd rd matchup with North Judson.

Glenn @ Calumet - Calumet is 5-4, but hasn’t played the schedule Glenn has and they’ve lost their last 3 games. Give me Glenn to win.

I like Valley to win the sectional. Has been a long time since the Vikings have won a sectional title. I think they are able to get it done this year. Not sure they can make it much further than that. As a Rochester guy, I'm hoping they do make it pretty far. Makes the Zebras one loss look really good. Really wish the Zebras wouldn't have had a few key guys out in that game, but it was a great game for the Zebras to learn from. Good luck to the Vikings and the rest of the INSC this Friday.

Warsaw had the bye so I made the trip to go watch this game. I’d heard Angola had a beautiful football facility and took this opportunity to go see it and it is indeed a beautiful football setup.

Yikes. The Vikings were completely out coached in this one. The offensive operation was a train wreck with getting play calls in on time, to mass confusion on subs, to trying the same thing over and over when it was obvious Angola was dead set on taking away that inside running game. Angola is extremely well coached and the competitive schedule in the competitive conference has them ready for playoff football.

Valley plays hard in one football game all year, the bell game. After that their season is a joke. Just my personal opinion. Might be a little bit bias.

By far the biggest game this week and maybe biggest in all the North:

Griffith @ Knox

Can Myles break the career rushing record this week. He is right around 300 yds from it. I see a shootout and whichever team can get a turnover and get that extra possession as the team that wins it.

Probably just talking to myself here, but 2nd round games for the rest of conference are:

LaVille @ North Judson:

I could see LaVille giving Judson problems in this one. They only lost in week 2 against them by 7 points. NJ has played a 1A heavy schedule since then while LaVille has tested themselves against the bigger INSC schools. Will it pay off?

Rensselaer Central @ Bremen:

RC has an 8-2 record with some really nice wins against LCC, Kankakee Valley, and Logansport. Tough game for the Lions.

I think he breaks it this week. The only concern for this game is how Knox's defense fairs against Griffith's offense. I think they get the job done but could be a high scoring affair!

The biggest surprise of the week could be Knox losing and Myles falling 10-20 yards short of the record. I don’t see it happening though. He’ll get the ball 40 times and break out a few very long runs. This season it seems you cannot stop him for an entire game.

Curious what the GID thinks of the North Judson loss to LaVille?

I read a lot of projections with the Blue Jays winning the sectional.

McLaughlin continues to impress.

Can the Redskins make a deep run?

Look forward to your responses

As always, the game is better

I'm not shocked by the LaVille win over NJ.  I think the Lancers should win the sectional on Friday.  But I don't give them much of a chance with Pioneer.

I watched some of the Knox game on Friday night and McLaughlin's body is taking a beating!  He's obviously in GREAT shape, but how long can a guy handle that kind of physical stress on his body? But I do think he can take Knox to the finals.

Looks like LaVille throws it quite a bit. That could be a matchup problem for anyone they face going forward in the North as most teams do not see offenses like that in their regular season play.

I’ve seen LaVille twice this year. They definitely can throw it. But they’d much rather just get the ball to #4 any way they can. As he goes, so go the Lancers.

Regional championship week:

INSC still has two teams in it. Any surprises in your opinion? And let me know who ya got in the regional round?

Angola (7 - 5) at Knox (12 - 0)

LaVille (8 - 4) at Pioneer (11 - 1)

I think both knox and Pioneer win by a few scores.

Hey INSC!

There is certainly a threat for Knox to win the regional and take their talent to the next level!

McLaughlin is fun to watch. Had a couple of chances to see him play in person ... the line blocks well and if given a hole or lane, he's into the secondary quickly and even more.

I'm curious on why Pioneer should win by a few scores?

I haven't seen Pioneer play in a couple of years.

What gives the Panthers that much more of an edge that indicates this game will not be close?

Superior offense? Defense?

Dominating Line?

Does anyone give LaVille a chance in this one?

Appreciate your feedback.

What does LaVille need to do to have a chance agiainst Pioneer?

Superior offense. They've been my 1A North pick since week 2 when they gave Knox their toughest game of the year. (ok...maybe one of the toughest)

LaVille is battle tested and one of the hottest 1A teams but Pioneer is a well oiled machine. I didn't realize it was at LaVille so that'll make it closer but I still expect Pioneer to win this game.

Pioneer has weapons……FAST weapons, but they’re going to have a difficult time if their main weapon Rans cannot contribute.  He’s clearly dealing with an injury. He could barely move last Friday but they didn’t need him to.

My son plays for LaVille so while I am admittedly biased, I have watched a lot of LaVille football.  This game will hinge on turnovers.  Sometimes LaVille tries to get "cute" with play calling and there have been times some players have tried some in game heroics.  More times than not, it has led to turnovers.  So, if LaVille can play smart and win the turnover battle, I believe they have a very good shot in this game.  Looking at the schedule, Pioneer has done better against common foes, but LaVille has had a more challenging overall schedule and are battle tested.  I think it's gonna be closer than what most are expecting.

Pioneer's SOS only 8 spots worse than LaVille's per Harrell site.

They each have played Knox, Judson, and Triton so I would image that keeps their SoS somewhat close. Looking at their 6 non-common Regular Season opponents, each team’s Top 3 Sagarin Rated opponents are:

Pioneer - North Miami (114), Lewis Cass (141), and Caston (215)

LaVille - Tippy Valley (80), Bremen (164), and Jimtown (172)

Looks like LaVille has played bigger more physical teams than Pioneer. That certainly doesn’t mean that if Pioneer had the same schedule they would not have done as well or even better, but LaVille has been more battle tested to date I think.

Should be an interesting one….. I’m looking forward to watching it!
