The FWC spread is going to be a problem for Penn. Wouldn't be surprised to see Hurley on the defensive side of the ball again for some snaps like he was against Elkhart. I also see Penn's run game as a problem for FWC.  I expect a high scoring game.

I am not sure what happened with Elkhart. A lot of preseason hype with the D1 Transfers but sure didn't show in the record.

Defense was suspect all year and O-line struggled a lot.

This game intrigues me just as last week's Crown Point/Penn tilt did.  The team with prestige and history trying to prove its in the process of revitalizing itself versus the up and comer that has tasted success and wants to get back to downtown Indy for another shot at it.

I have come around on the steps Penn has taken. I have dogged Penn hard for their decision making in the last few seasons. Lack of faith in the administration to put a staff together that actually wants to win a state title. I think Penn has a long way to go, but I am much more encouraged by the way these players are performing under this staff than teams did in the past.

We all know that Penn would have folded after that first play, against CP and the first quarter vs Mishawaka, in years past. This team has been punched hard in the mouth and rebounded quickly.

I will still try to remain as fair as possible when it comes to expectations, but I believe that Penn has firmly taken a step in the right direction this year. Even if Carroll comes out and wins this game soundly. Penn is back on the right path.

Go Kingsmen!

I am rolling with Penn on this one. They miss a PAT only to have special teams redeem themselves later and win by 2.

The missed PAT will solely be on the snap or the hold. I don't remember the last time this kicker missed a PAT.

But, I love the way you think...Redemption tour continues.

Hopefully they spent a lot of time long snapping in practice this week . I have never witnessed that debacle in 40 + years of watching Penn Football.

The worst Special teams game I had seen up to that game was the BD 2017 state title game. Just bonehead errors on KOR, I am sure we surrendered a return and fumbled a punt and KOR. But last week was bad.

I don't think they were that good last year either , even with 2 D1 Defensive lineman . They barely escaped a bad Penn team 7-3 . Penn lost to CP by 35 and Mishawaka by 20 .

Do young people even know about this forum? I know Carroll is kind of a Johnny come lately, but you'd think with their fan base there would be at least one follower on this board. If this was my site I would be at a different game each week with flyers promoting it. Could be something bigger. Good to see a nice following from Penn on here.

Yes that 2017 game was bad too and really set the tone for the shellacking that occurred . But to have a mishap 4 consecutive times and one of them gave CP the ball at the 11 yard line .

Game Day, always special when we play a team from Fort Wayne ,Go Penn .

Gonna be a good one. I'd be at the Brass Elk beforehand if I didn't have other plans.

Congrats to Carroll. Penn had their chances and didn’t cash in . Huge momentum swing in the 4th when Penn failed to score from Carroll’s 4 yard line. Could have went up 37-21.

A tough one to lose; even a field goal there might have been enough for Penn to hold on. Credit to both teams for their play, and congrats to Carroll.

Missed bits and pieces of the second half last night. Didn't realize Penn was 4 yards away from a 16 point lead.

I was deflated after the 3rd and 10 80 yard td from Carroll.

I wish Carroll the best, I am tired of watching Penn get beat on their home field. But, that was a heck of a game. We just fell short in a wild back and forth game.

Penn had an excellent season and I really think they are close to being a year in year out force in 6A. Let’s see how it plays out

If they can keep Hall and Hurley for their senior years...Penn should be able to reload on O. The D is graduating some big parts of the D.

It was the conversion on 3rd and long (12 yards to go, maybe?) on the next Carroll possession for me. Not a dagger, but a critical would that started to make it all feel inevitable.

The missed field goal was a facepalm, plus Carroll gained 16 yards on the miss. In that situation we have been struggling the last two games with the snap and hold situation I feel we should have gone for it.

The O just couldn't stay on the field.

Yeah, right back to where they were at the beginning of the season with the long snapping operation. That’s a problem that wouldn’t be able to fly under radar against a full season of actual competition.

I can see why they kicked since they’d been clean except for the first PAT, but I would not have hated if they lined up to go for it there either.

More importantly, I would have liked to see the offense incorporate a little of that old fashioned Penn screen game at times to help Hall out.

Carroll’s ability to go under center and lean on a defense really rounds out their attack, and their qb’s ability to handle pressure and escape from the grasp of defenders was the difference, for me, in this one.

Gee, it would be nice to see a team like Carroll in more than just the last game of the season ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I 100% agree. I would love to see Penn get under center and run some old school trap plays.
