The Hoosier is too big geographically.  BC, LCC, Twin Lakes, and WL would be wise to parter up with Rensselaer to form a new league

This actually makes a lot of sense.  Honestly you could make a good case for prying Frankfort away from the MAC, add Delphi and you've got a decent 7 team league.

It’s basically the old Hoosier (circa late 80s early 90s) except without Harrison & McCutcheon.  Frankfort and possibly Tipton would be decent additions.

In the MWL, besides when they played each other, would TL and WL have more competition in this league than the current HC?

In the MWS, competition wise, this is no bueno for CC, right?   And CC is Central Catholic, not Clinton Central?

What did the folks in White County do to you to deserve that kind of name calling for the Cavaliers, and Frontier doesn’t even make the list for the conference.

I know that is just a typo but it gave me a good chuckle when I read it.  I like that it provides further justification for the edit feature to be enabled for more than a measly three minutes.

I know!  Using an iPhone is no help and all apologies to Frontier!

Lebanon to the HHC is a real head scratcher.  I’ll stick to my usual approach of how the travel, especially on a weeknight, will affect the student-athletes not playing football.  And who can get excited about a Lebanon-Pendleton Heights matchup, etc.?

They have played week 1 for the last 4 years.

Lebanon has played PH annually since 2022.

Lebanon was in a league with two Lafayette schools (45-minute drives) and two Terre Haute schools (90-100-minute drives), so the travel won't be much different in the HHC. Yorktown is a 1:15 drive, everyone else is 50-60 minutes. They were on an island with no place to go - the Monon conference basically exists because the Sagamore's smaller schools wanted to boot Lebanon, Danville and Tri-West, but couldn't do so per the conference bylaws, so they just left and formed their own league.

Lebanon is in a weird position - there aren't many big 4A/small 5A public schools in the Indy area anymore, and the ones that are (Plainfield, Mooresville) are already in conferences. But those big 4A/small 5A schools that do exist are east of Indy, which has grown, but not at the explosive levels of Brownsburg/Avon/Fishers/Center Grove/Carmel. And, much like in a Sagamore situation, a gulf in school size and perceived competitiveness was beginning to widen between the suburban HHC schools and the ones that weren't seeing as much (or any) growth, so the smaller schools were leaving the league. It's a marriage of convenience, but you had a five-team HHC that needed a new member (and for them, Lebanon effectively replaces New Castle and Delta, which was a comparable drive) and Lebanon that needed a conference, and all six schools share a similar school profile and population and competitive level.

It's a good fit. They'd likely be driving an hour to find volleyball and soccer matches anyway. The one sport that will really feel it is baseball, where the HHC plays a double-round robin (teams play a home-and-home Tuesday and Wednesday of each week, meaning Lebanon is making six long drives in six consecutive weeks), but the conference could revisit the way it once did baseball, which was to play its conference games as doubleheaders on Friday nights.

And in individual sports like swimming, wrestling, cross country, golf and track, there is one conference meet, so that affects one night per sport a year, and Lebanon would likely be traveling to Terre Haute or Lafayette for those, so it's not a huge change to drive to Mt. Vernon for track, Pendleton Heights for wrestling, Yorktown for golf, or New Pal for swimming (especially since all of those except track are on Saturdays).

I like 6 team conferences and I don’t think Lebanon is a bad fit for the HHC.  The combination I think would have made more sense is to have Lebanon and Danville join the larger schools of the new Hoosier Legends Conference.  Bring in Martinsville, who is quickly being outgrown by the Mid-State, to get to 6.  Then the smaller members of the Hoosier Legends go with a 6 team league which includes Cascade.  Frankfort goes to the reduced Hoosier and the Monon Conference goes on with 6.

Indiana Legends

Martinsville 1281

Greenwood 1223

Shelbyville 1068

Lebanon 1067

Beech Grove 914

Danville 848

Hoosier Legends

Indian Creek 652

Tri-West 610

Speedway 600

Cascade 537

Monrovia 489

Triton Central 471

Monon

Crawfordsville 680

North Montgomery 547

Western Boone 519

Greencastle 497

Southmont 476

North Putnam 397

Hoosier

Frankfort 922

West Lafayette 752

Twin Lakes 620

Benton Central 516

Delphi 397

Lafayette Central Catholic 300

The Hoosier Heritage Conference could then pull the two smallest remaining members of the Mid-State and send Yorktown north.  The Mid-State brings in Bloomington South to join Bloomington North as a conference of 6.

Hoosier Heritage

Franklin Community 1531

Pendleton Heights 1502

Mt Vernon (Fortville) 1470

Greenfield-Central 1413

Mooresville 1372

New Palestine 1246

Mid-State

Perry Meridian 2447

Whiteland 2135

Decatur Central 1967

Plainfield 1836

Bloomington South 1676

Bloomington North 1517

Crimson Ace is correct: Lebanon is in a very tough spot, much like the Hautians.  I don’t always look at things on the bright side, which is I usually am negative.  Sometimes, travel is needed…

I would support this.  Then the Hot Dogs can join the Hoosier Heartland where they belong.

I've been lobbying hard for Sheridan to leave the Hoosier Heartland.  This move would be enough for me to demand it.

Why is that Mr. Bragg?  The Blackhawks don't like easy wins?  And why are you currently lobbying? Not enough competition in the HHC?

Sheridan football hasn't been the same since they left the Hoosier.  Sure, they don't walk over EVERYONE in the conference, but almost every year, we know that the only really competitive games are going to be against Carroll and Eastern, the last two games of the season.  In my opinion, the conference does a terrible job of preparing the Hawks for the postseason, because they spend the majority of the season boosting their egos by beating bad teams.  I'd much rather Tipton join the HHC than Frankfort.  Or heck, the Hawks moving back to the Hooser, albeit some of those bus rides were downright stupid.
