Due to Illinois changing their Season start date, Gibson Southern will no longer play Rochester week 2 at the United Fidelity Bowl.  Instead, the Titans will play St. Pius X out of Festus Mo.  They were a state finalist in Mo in 2025.

It's gotta be getting close to the annoucment of the new Heritage Hills HC....I may have missed it.  From the word on the street it's the worst kept secret in Southern Indiana LOL.

It pretty much is indeed the worst kept secret.  They tried to keep it on the down low, but that typically doesn't work well round here.  I think it will be "official" next Monday.

Has Mt. Vernon hired a coach yet?

I had no idea coach Fischer stepped down until I saw your post and did a little digging.

Saw this post on Facebook December 17th.

The Head Coaching position at Mount Vernon Posey is currently listed as open on the schools website.
Previous Coach Justin Fischer was 16-14 in 3 seasons with the Wildcats, including 6-4 this past year.
MV is a Class 3A school in the Pocket Athletic Conference Big School Division

Good luck to Brad, glad to have him back in the area.

I wonder what Coach Fischers roll will be, if any, with the program.  I listened to his radio show several times and really grew to like his personality and his ability to shoot straight with the fans and the community.

Word on the street is that Princeton has a HC opening.

Seems to be a tough gig as of late. Tough conference. What else has led to the struggles?

It's just one of those things where football isn't sexy in the building and not sexy even deeper in the community.  They have very nice facilites (very nice weight room) and will be spending 40 million over the next two years on even nicer facilies.  They have the athletes you would expect a school their size to have....everything is there but football is just broken.   Usually, for a turn around, you have to have a large grass roots movement to fix the youth and feeder leages etc.  It's a big hill to climb for a new coach to come in there and single handedly fix the program from top to bottom (if that is even possible).  The entire commuinty has to want it first in my opinion.  I will say they looked much more organized and polished on the field under Coach Archer than they had previously.  They haven't beaten their county rival in 25 years.

Understood. Thanks for the response.

Couldn't tell you Coach. Yes, they hired someone last year.

Nick Beloat was approved to be Princeton’s interim football coach next season at the North Gibson School Corporation board meeting on May 11.

Beloat was on staff as the Tigers’ offensive coordinator during Derek Archer’s lone season as coach in 2025. Princeton finished the season with a 3-7 record, but Beloat contributed to Princeton’s offense, generating more yards and points than they had in a decade.

GS and Reitz had a great practice last night.  That little RB at Retiz is quicker than a knife fight in a phone booth.

He really is, when we played them in sectional last season I'd say he was the fastest kid on the field that night.  As a freshman last season he probably didn't weigh 120 lbs, but that didn't matter, he was hard to catch and very slippery.  If he sticks with it, he could be very interesting when he puts some weight on.
