As to the Mighty Panthers, you have to think this needs to be the year they finally get something done in November. Sectional 24 got a little easier and the Regional will look much different without East Central.

Considering how good they could potentially be again, they have a winnable path to Semi-State (assuming they can beat Jasper in the sectional and maybe Martinsville? in the regional). But they definitely need to figure out how to win the big game when it matters! Less penalties and turnovers would be a big help for them.

Any team that no longer has Memorial in their playoff path shows up at church Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning to give thanks. (extended eye roll)

Castle should be seeing some new WR faces this year as Antonio Harris graduated and Will Coleman is not playing due to D1 baseball scholarship.  Would expect Wells (Sr), Salpietra (Sr) and Pritchard (So) getting some serious reps  Expect to see a solid run game as McCool has only gotten stronger and faster.  Staying healthy is key for him.  The TE position should be led by Aigner (Sr) with Hurt (Jr) seeing some playing time.  OL graduated a few starters, but returns a solid group being led by Adamson (Sr).  QB is a battle between Lene (Sr) and Morgan (Jr).  Morgan started the last few games at the end of the season last year so you would think he has a leg up.   On the defensive side the team has to expect a solid year as almost every single starter from last year is returning.  DL should be solid with Patterson (Sr) and Herrman (Jr) leading the way.  LB position is one of strength with Leach (Sr) and Ward (Sr) leading the way.   The secondary should also be strong with Belwood (Sr) leading at Safety and Farmer (So) coming in.  An early exit in the postseason and/or not competing for the SIAC would probably be a disappointment.

C&P will be posting their previews starting next week. My Stats excel sheet is about ready to go for the season with new stats being included. I will also do opponent stats again for this upcoming postseason like I did last year.

New stats being added:

Offensive Yards per Play

Opponent Yards per Play

I did think of doing total offense seconds per play, but we will see on that one

The website has an archives tab, but I think you have to be a subscriber.

Oh wow, Wing T is one of my favorite formations, will it be the primary offense or switching between different formations?

I missed all but the last segment, so I really can't say. In talking to Coach Hurley, Dan Egierski referred to comments made by Luke Ellspermann, so Luke was evidently the player interviewed before I tuned in. What I heard was mainly Coach discussing offense personnel and depth.

Looks like the offense is switching over to a Wing T formation according to Oldtime

A recap from the article, Sutton is hoping to see some improvement for Harrison, since the offense returns 7 starters and hopes to get a couple more wins. This is also his first year with a 5th/6th grade football team. Looks like Knapp is replacing Brown as QB this season, however, Sutton mentioned they are facing challenges. It appears that their 6’8 TE did something to his knee before the start of summer practices and is likely out for the season. But Sutton does like his senior class and the receiving corps.

Losing Thomas (TE) is a huge blow from a talent and experience standpoint. He was a big weapon, although IMO waaay under-utilized the last two years. He should have touched the ball at least 15 times a game.

Very under-utilized, should have had more opportunities getting the ball with his 6’8 Height. Pretty sure Harrison mainly used him as a blocker in the later half of the season.

C&P Castle Preview ($$):

Recap from the article, talks about Leach/Patterson being D1 recruits and how the area is getting more exposure for players. Castle wants to avoid the season sweep against North from last year, so they are pumped for Week 1 against North. The team will be senior heavy, with the majority of the starters being seniors. Looks like there is still an ongoing QB battle between their Junior and Sophomore QBs.
