Heard the Jays had a scrimmage tonight. How did they look? Anyone standout? Looks like their numbers are between 25-30.

Will this be the last year for Jays in 2a for the foreseeable future???

Seems like numbers across the board in all the classes are down again, been the trend for 5 or 6 years now.

Rensselaer is not close to 3A. A few years ago, yes. Now, no. Rensselaer is losing kids in their corporation too.

Yea we not even close to the line 2 years ago and we haven't had any sudden influx of families either.

Is enrollment down at the HS that much or are the boys not interested in football at NJSP anymore?  I remember in the 80s we rolled up on teams 50 deep and now they are half that?  If so I hope they drop to1A.  I know they are close to the line.  When is the next count?

This Year:  Spring will be realignment, there are 3 counts a year know from DOE that schools have to turn in I believe.  I know there is one in September, that used to be the one IHSAA would always use, not sure if that is the case right now.   Could be.

This Spring will all also be the 2nd round of tradition factor.

They actually are between 35 and 37 players at this time. It was a split squad scrimmage very up tempo lots of reps.

I guess that would be 36 then. HAHA  Went by practice one day and there is not 36 players out there. 30 would be a closer number.  Coach White will get the numbers up, he needs time to get to the younger students and he is already doing this with his youth camp.  Heard great things about his camp.  Keep up the good work Coach White and good luck!

Hard to tell when you drive by there are players on the field in the weight room so its hard to get a good count driving by that number was from Coach White.

I know the Bombers will continue to have room for the Jays even with the 11 member Hoosier:  If we get to 12, I don't think that would affect it either.

Things looked good during the scrimmage with the new rules its hard to get a real good feel but we are big and the guys that are running the ball run hard linebackers looked great on the defensive side of the ball Wheeler came out in a hurry up offense and we where playing are base D overall I think it was a great step in the right direction. We are taking it one game at a time never get to high never get to low.

also its hard to judge our run defense against wheeler. they very rarely run the ball. i know john glenn will be run heavy, knox will be run heavy.

Scrimmages are just that:  A time to work on stuff.  Get kids on film for evaluation purposes, help build depth.  Live tackling situations is good too, as we don't do much live tackling.   Hope all got out healthy!!!  Always my #1 priority for our scrimmage

True but when they did run we shut them down.

Between Schultz Leszek and Pitts they had close to 250 tackles between the three last year.
