  1. Past hour
  2. I hope all is well with you. I still pop in….plus I’m generally in daily contact with some pretty active old-timers on here.
  3. I'll be at Evansville's second best HS stadium, the Reitz Bowl, to watch the 81st Catholic battle between Reitz Memorial vs. Mater Dei. The Cats lead the all-time series 44-34-2, but the Tigers are seeking their 11th straight W in the series. While its a great rivalry, it just isn't the same without Coach Goebel between the numbers and hashes most of the night.
  4. This has been explained 1000 times. I’m seeing some annual pot stirring by CJ in this post. It had to do with an agreement reached by the Archdiocese schools, Brebeuf, Guerin and, originally, Cathedral. It wasn’t about Catholic v Non-Catholic enrollment- it had everything to do with how athletes in CYO schools could be contacted and how they could not. Coaches could talk to CYO teams as a whole in favor of coming to their school but no recruiting individually by coaches…no phone calls, etc. Archdiocese schools were limited to their feeder schools but the non-Arccdiocese had no limitation EXCEPTING there was to be no direct INDIVIDUAL contact. Coach L back in the day couldn’t even individually promote Chatard football or talk in any way about it to kids on the Spring day they signed up for classes at Chatard. I know it because I witnessed it on the day of sign-up. All these schools had agreed to it until Cathedral reneged. Roncalli responded as they did because of it. As much as I am not so “down” with the Royals rename I totally respected Roncalli’s decision back then….still do.
  5. Mike Pence is whatever "mother" tells him to be.
  6. Second week of conference games. St. Joe (3-0) @ Marian (1-2) Holy War '26 SB Washington (0-3) @ Penn (3-0) Elkhart (2-1) @ SB Riley (1-2) New Prairie (0-3) @ SB Adams (2-1)
  7. I agree with this thinking. I hate the "Vegas would favor this 9-3 SEC team H2H vs an 11-1 or 12-0 other conference team" arguments. There should be some recognition for actually winning games and not hypothetical ones on paper.
  8. Westfield at Noblesville tonight, keeping an eye on Avon at Brownsburg also. Can't wait for the September 25 game to come along
  9. Mike Pence said he was an "Evangelical Catholic" you know. Just sayin' Could this be the prelude to the new Spanish Inquisition?
  10. Today
  11. I think accepting non-Catholics was part of the "New Evangelization" call made by Pope Ben in 2012, especially if the young men have football skills.
  12. I began at Cathedral in 1957 and there were about 10%, or so, non Catholics enrolled at that time. IMO, it's a good thing for both Catholics and non Catholics, as I learned as much about other faith lives as they learned about mine. It's just a shame that some hold having non Catholics against Cathedral. I'm sure glad that Cathedral maintains the tradition of inclusion, both racially and religiously.
  13. Catching wind of a couple injuries at NM. If true.. OOOF
  14. Hamilton Heights at Tipton- It’s Pork Festival weekend in Tipton, get your pork chop on a stick at the game! I don’t have a dog anymore so I can’t leave my traditional gift in Tipton County, so I’ll just have to spit out my truck window when I’m over on County Line Road. Sheridan/Clinton Central Kokomo at Jeffersonville-HH head coach was at Kokomo last year, he had turned things around at Kokomo. Any other game in my multiple pick em’s
  15. I'm be at Bishop Chatard for the neighborhood matchup with Cathedral. It should be a good one. It's a real shame that BC will be missing Danny Adams. It was fun to watch him, in a morbid sort of way. I always enjoy seeing the good ones perform.
  16. I don't see a Tri-Eastern Conference thread, so I'll post these here. How do they look. Any differences with what the teams are wearing in 2026? Your input is greatly appreciated!
  17. Crawford County @ South Decatur Mitchell @ Eastern Greene Perry Central @ Paoli West Washington @ Springs Valley Brownstown @ Salem Corydon @ Scottsburg North Harrison @ Charlestown Silver Creek @ Madison
  18. I'll be following Heritage Hills at Southridge, North Posey at Tell City (battle of PAC Small Division unbeatens), and Gibson Southern at Henderson County (Ky.).
  19. I don't see the link yet on IHSAATV.ORG, but that is where it will be..
  20. I like to think it's a blended version of a power poll combined with accomplishments. I try to think if the season ended today and we were deciding on seeding, how would I rate the teams. Kind of like the BCS model that combined many factors. Example: North would probably beat Tell City and Forest Park, but I'd rather see these undefeated teams in a playoff than a two-loss North team.
  21. I expect it will be a circus, TC will have a huge crowd. Should make for a great atmosphere
  22. Granted it was summer 11v11 scrimmages but I watched NP scrimmage BNL and North. (On film, didn’t get to attend) I think NP vs Castle would be a good game. Not here to say you’re wrong (and we will never know) but I’d expect a very competitive game.
  23. The North Daviess Jr high team played at Edgewood last night. Good guys won 20-6 on the red turf.
  24. 1. Brownsburg 2. Westfield 3. Warren Central 4. Center Grove 5. Carmel 6. Avon 7. LN 8. Carroll 9. Ben Davis 10. Cathedral 11. Chatard 12. Penn 13. Dwenger 14. Crown Point 15. East Central 16. New Pal 17. Bloomington South 18. Roncalli 19. Zionsville 20. FC 21. HSE 22. Merrillville 23. East Noble 24. DC 25. Evansville Memorial
