  4. It would be interesting to compare other male sports at the schools that are struggling in football to see if they struggle to field full teams in other sports? A couple of thoughts for low numbers. It has been said that many kids are focusing on one sport. Maybe some of the college coaching legends should talk to the single sport athletes and tell them that they would sign a multi-sport athlete before a single sport athlete. Urban Meyer and I believe Nick Saban have both said that they prefer a 2-3 sport athlete than a football only athlete. Another reason for low numbers could be that kids are tired of having losing seasons every year. It would be interesting to see how often there is a coaching change at the schools that are struggling with numbers? The schools that seem to have great numbers every year are schools that have had long-term coaches and/or promote from within.
  5. Glad you are doing the poll in Temp’s absence. Gives us all something to talk about. Just make sure that 24 of the 25 teams in the poll are Indy based… Rest of the state should be playing flag football
  6. Eh, they won’t be saying that about Spartan football, ever. Lots of talent, soft as charmin. Punch em in the mouth, they go down.
  7. What’s Gibson Southern got back this year? I’m trying to figure out who to pick in the HHC thread between them and Floyd Central.
  8. Today
  9. Thanks. Found a good one on their Facebook page.
  10. Wrong New Albany. This New Albany High School in the photo is also called the Bulldogs but they’re located in New Albany, Mississippi. Their colors are maroon and white. The New Albany Bulldogs of Indiana are red and black.

  18. There's some others in the MIC that I could find. Warren, Carmel, and CG. Couldn't find one with the number on CG's helmet on the other side.
  19. Pick-em selections Martinsville @ BNL The Arties are led by one of the better QBs in the Indy metro area in 6'6' jr Chase Davis and he will be throwing a lot to WR Landon Cazee who led the team in receiving yards last season. The Arties by at least three TDs. Columbus East @ Mooresville East will be starting a new QB on the road, who was the JV QB last season, and will be facing a team that had a similar record last season, although the Pioneers played in a much stronger conference being the Mid-State Conference. The Pioneers by two to three scores. 5A #9/#10 Floyd Central @ 3A #2 Gibson Southern There is nothing to go by from a performance standpoint since it is the season opener. This is a very difficult game to predict so I will be going with the home team. Jeffersonville @ Lawrence Central Bloomington South scrimmaged LC this past Friday and South coach Gabe Johnson described the Bears as big, strong, and physical with a lot of team speed. LC has Texas A&M recruit CB Errol Kerns III on defense and he may see some time on offense. This will be a very long, long night for the Red Devils and one could very well name the score. 2A #8 Providence @ New Albany Until the Bulldogs show me otherwise that they are improved, and given their recent football history, I will go with the road team. Seymour @ Greenwood I know absolutely nothing about the prospects this season for either team, so I will go with the home team.
